Ebf and ttc

Dc2 is ebf and has about 8-10 feeds a day, and a couple of times through the night too. He is just 10 weeks now so it's a little early but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make ttc easier e.g. are there any supplements that can help fertility return while breastfeeding.

At the moment we're not using any contraception but I think falling pregnant while ebf especially in the early days is highly unlikely?

Any tips or advice appreciated!

Yes I'd say it's unlikely if you're feeding that much, unless your periods have returned. Night feeding in particular is known to suppress ovulation.

TBH there isn't much you can do to encourage fertility other than reducing breastfeeding or even giving up in some cases. My periods didn't return until I had stopped feeding completely. That doesn't happen to everyone, but it was definitely the case for me.

Forgot to say- I didn't use contraception either after ds1. I only got pregnant again after I finished feeding and periods returned (although conceived first cycle so the gap between ds1 and ds2 is still only 17 months).

Gah! I had a feeling there wasn't much you could do when you are breastfeeding.

Gutted as I don't want to stop or combi-feed (it was so hard establishing bf in the first place), but I don't want to wait much longer to try to conceive again either as dc2 was ivf and we may have to go down that route again.

May have to re-evaluate bf at 6 months, thanks chatty!
