What do you do after you have done the deed?!

So weird question but what do you do after you have done the deed? I keep reading to have legs in the air for 30 minutes after but it's causing a few problems...1) I feel ridiculous 2) it's just not that flattering and 3) I just don't have the time haha! I feel like if I assume this positions after each time it's sort of taking the romance out of things?! Am i harming my chances by not doing it?

The other thing is I always need the loo, but I feel like I a loosing little swimmers! (Sorry tmi!) But if I don't go after I always end up with a bad uti. I am already quite prone to them?!

What does everyone else do? Am I losing our chances by not hanging off the bed and going for a wee?! 😂

I usually just go to the loo as I get cystitis if I don't Blush although would be interested to hear if the legs in the air approach has helped anyone!

elQuintoConyo · 04/06/2017 15:32

We cuddled then I went for a wee. Spooned until sleep.

I think 'legs in the air' is a myth.

maybefallingapart · 04/06/2017 15:32

I've never sat with my legs in the air and have 5 of the little blighters!!

MissBax · 04/06/2017 15:32

Youll probably get a lot of responses from people saying you don't need to do that, but as someone who ttc for 3 years, it was when I started putting legs in the air that we then conceived.
I also get utis though, could you pop in a tampon and go for a wee? There is the risk that it'll absorb all the semen though!

IndianaMoleWoman · 04/06/2017 15:34

Pillow under bum, legs in the air and a browse of mumsnet worked twice for us!

BeyondHope · 04/06/2017 15:51

I've never put legs in the air and am currently on my 6th pregnancy. (Several miscarriages along the way) Don't worry about going to the toilet after. All the good swimmers will be right up where they need to be not long after sex. All the other stuff that comes out is just the semen and poor sperm. I've always gone straight for a wee after.

fanfrickintastic · 04/06/2017 15:52

Went to the loo, wiped up and then went on a car journey. BFP 2 weeks later.

Mustang27 · 04/06/2017 15:54

Yeah uti's suck, go for a pee then cuddle. I'm not sure legs in the air does anything except make you feel silly.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/06/2017 16:15

Legs in the air is a myth and makes no difference at all.

Enough sperms will get to the cervix from where they won't escape so you can use the toilet as well without such fear.

mowglik · 04/06/2017 19:26

We ttc for 8 months, legs in air, 20 min wait for toilet etc and then the 9th month went straight for a wee and a shower and that was the month

Imo I think staying relaxed after dtd is more important than legs in air

But a glass of wine to wash it past the tonsils always helps WinkGrin

Having TTC for six years naturally I have tried all the tricks in the book. I know exactly when I did conceive in March this year, on Mothers Day morning (this makes me smile so much) and it was literally deed done, lay there, got up and got on with my day. I believe medically they know the way to swim so it's more in your mind doing these things but keep trying, it clearly happens when you least expect it! I was 12 weeks on Saturday Grinxx

joannegrady90 · 05/06/2017 09:08

I tried to fall pregnant for 2 years, legs in the air did the trick!

As for afterwards now I go clean myself up, please don't say people just fall asleep in the mess and stickiness 😨

kel1234 · 05/06/2017 09:14

I've never done that at all.
I go to the bathroom and clean myself up. Then we have a cuddle.
(Makes me laugh how on telly people seem to do it then just lay there cuddled up).

PrincessPlod · 05/06/2017 09:27

Sticking my legs in the air has worked 4 times for me I didn't do it for 30 mins max 15 mins.

Oysterbabe · 05/06/2017 10:31

Usually just lie there and cuddle for half an hour or so then go to the loo. I never bothered with the legs in the air stuff and conceived pretty quickly both times.

WithCheesePlease · 05/06/2017 10:43

Apparently it's a complete myth, but I'd still do anything to increase my chances!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 05/06/2017 12:40

I lie on my back with my legs in the air and make dh give me a little shake... but just because I think it's funny. Doubt it makes any difference!

Mrsjones17 · 05/06/2017 13:54

Hahahah @lorelaivictoriagilmore I can't imaging my DH face if I asked him to give me a little shake!!! I'm sacking off legs into the air it just makes me feel stupid and causing more stress which I'm sure I'd the real reason it's not happening!

Over 3 years TTC. Tried every trick in the book. Classic ...the month I got pregnant, was the month that we decided to take a break from trying.
I know the day that I conceived as we only did it once that week and as it was my birthday I remember very clearly that we dtd in the morning and I jumped straight in the shower afterwards as we were going out shopping. The one month I didn't do legs in the air or pillow under bum or track my cycle! I think being stress-free was the key!
