Hi,

This is all very new to me so would like to make some TTC buddies :)

Let me tell you a little about myself:
Been with my SO for 2 years now and we're getting married in 31 days! I'm 26 (nearly 27) and my hubby2b is 35. We bought a house last year and feel like now is a good time to start a family!

This is my first cycle and I'm really excited but trying not to get my hopes up as seen that it's harder than it looks.

Any advice would be appreciated :) xxx

@McTufty eeek that's a positive. I'm sure. How exciting. Get on hubby now xx

FairyAnn · 18/06/2017 19:52

Adriana I always test the first wee of the morning. I'm currently testing every day as a baseline

McTufty · 18/06/2017 19:56

mummyg
Deed done, with some fertilecheck fertility gel! Not what we fancied doing in 28 degree heat, but needs must Smile xx

MummyGofboys · 18/06/2017 20:00

Haha good for you my lovely. Fingers crossed xxx

FrowningFlamingo · 18/06/2017 20:25

Haha good luck McTufty!
We started again today now AF has finished. Most likely far too early but we are going for the every other day approach as I've not long had my implant out so don't want to rely on cycle length and I'm too lazy to do OPKs. Send some baby dust this way please!

MissyEm · 18/06/2017 21:53

Good luck Mctufty and Frowning Flamingo!!

McTufty · 18/06/2017 22:00

Thanks missyem!

frowningflamingo

That's the best way apparently as ovulation can be unpredictable and this way there will be little swimmers waiting whenever you ovulate! Baby dust has been duly sent your way Smile

I am cramping like a bitch now so it may well be I'm not actually ovulating but having a secondary lh surge before AF which I have heard can happen sometimes. That's ok if so! Means my cycle is coming back and I can chart. However I would like to know as I am finding this totally mind boggling!

Firework83 · 18/06/2017 22:06

Hi... I was hoping I could join? A bit scared ha. I'm new and still working out all the acronyms! It's hard as I don't want to discuss this with my friends because it's private but I don't want my OH (other half?!) to feel pressure either. I'm TTC for the first time this month. I ovulated on Thursday so made the most of that day! Now today I've been too and from the loo non stop (although I have drank a lot of water in this heat) and have an awful headache which I can't shift. I'm thinking my mind is tricking me but how early can you pick up symptoms? I'm in that situation where I'm trying to tell myself I'll be ok if it hasn't worked first time but also hoping I won't have problems concieving as I'm 34.

AdrianaWeatherwax · 18/06/2017 22:10

That's a super dark line McTufty! Have fun Wink.

Best way Flamingo, good luck and have fun ;-)

Finally got a peak OPK and it was a good clear line, huzzah!

Welcome firework! You guys are all so on it with ovulation sticks etc!

I on the other hand, totally forgot about anything this weekend and have had a verrrry boozy one with friends bbqs etc, now feeling a bit guilty just in case! Did you guys stop the booze etc before knowing?!

My boobs are sore as hell, but may be because the ol' AF is due in 9 days! Who knows!

FrowningFlamingo · 18/06/2017 23:06

Welcome firework :) don't worry about the terminology, it becomes pretty obvious quickly!
Thanks for the baby dust McTufty and have fun too adriana! Grin
Fefi I have found people take very different approaches with the alcohol. Personally I've cut down but not stopped (nursing one wine instead of having three!). Also had a booxy BBQ at the weekend but still had AF so didn't worry then really. I bought cheapy tests from amazon so if I have a big event I test that morning to make sure it's still ok. DH has cut down too as he read it is bad for sperm! This is the approach my obstetrician friend took so I'm comfortable with it but I think it's a fairly personal thing!

Mrstobe90 · 18/06/2017 23:23

Welcome firework! Personally I got symptoms the week after ovulation. My boobs just erupted out of my chest lmao

Good luck Mctufty and flamingo! Happy humping! Wink

Fefi I went to a 5 day music festival the week before I got my BFP and had a few drinks everyday but didn't over do it just in case. Apparently it's perfectly fine to drink before you get a positive as at that point, it's still so early that the baby hasn't properly implanted yet so anything you eat or drink won't go to it yet.

Welcome Firework! xposted with you last night Smile

Fefifoefum · 19/06/2017 08:49

Good to hear! I literally never drink, so this is very unusual, but sunshine and sausages does that to me! And there was pimms, andddd gin!
But neither me or the husband drink most if the time so fingers crossed!

MummyGofboys · 19/06/2017 08:57

@Fefifoefum I had two big glasses of wine the night before I found out I was pregnant. I wouldn't worry too much. This morning all Iv managed so far is to nibble at a trek bar 😷😷 nausea is getting worse xx

Mrstobe90 · 19/06/2017 09:33

mummyG poor you!! Hope you feel better! Thankfully my nausea has been very minimal. Really hope it doesn't get worse lol

Damn it's annoying when you write a message and lose it!

Welcome @firework, I am 34 this summer. I believe that we are absolutely in a good position to conceive, 34 is ripe and certainly not an age to worry about.

I could not help myself and told my DH I was quite upset that he isn't around of all the weeks. I feel sooooooo guilty as his hours are crazy, not just late night but all day and through the night. However I am one happy lady as he took time out before work for me this morning - bring on the baby dust. It's going to sunshine all week Grin

@MummyG have you tried ginger in some form to help the nausea?

Firework83 · 19/06/2017 13:56

Thanks @Mrstobe90 I will keep an eye out in a few days for symptoms. Feel ok today so who knows. Being at work at keeping distracted helps.

@MissyEm the reassurance is helpful thanks haha. My Mum had the menopause at 38 so I need to get cracking just in case!

Welcome @AdrianaWeatherwax - both newbies!

@Fefifoefum I feel like I have to be good... in a way I did it to check i was actually ovulating at all and I think if I started trying it on with my OH as much as suggested he'll know why and then feel the pressure to keeping it targeted haha.

Thank you @FrowningFlamingo ... yes getting there. All I knew up until this weekend was OMG and FML haha.

MissyEm · 19/06/2017 22:18

@firework83, fingers crossed for you that you get you BFP soon !

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 06:27

@Firework is that you in the two week wait window? So hard not to symptom spot. I'll be trying to ignore my body as much as possible Confused.

Booksandstuff · 20/06/2017 09:42

Hello! Please can I join? Like Firework I am new and don't really have a handle on the acronyms just yet!

I'm 30 and have been TTC for 8 months now. AF just arrived today (argh), but it's all over the shop every month as I have quite varied cycle lengths. Anyway, looking forward to following this thread and getting some good advice along the way!

McTufty · 20/06/2017 09:56

Welcome booksandstuff! Sorry to hear AF is here. If you have irregular cycles, what do you do to track ovulation? I'm just getting used to it and am on my first few days using a BBT thermometer!

I think I ovulated this morning - LH surge Sunday and Monday morning went down by Monday afternoon, and I had some weird sharp twinging near my left ovary this morning. Only lasted a minute or so and no idea what ovulation pain feels like so who knows whether that was it!

Anyway we will see if I get a temperature rise tomorrow!

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 10:16

Welcome booksandstuff, I'm an 8-monther too. Empathising.

Great news McTufty! Certainly sounds like it! My temp didn't spike as much as expected which is a tad concerning.

AdrianaWeatherwax · 20/06/2017 10:18

What does it all mean arrgh not obsessing

First time TTC
McTufty · 20/06/2017 11:14

I'm no expert - I read some people are 'slow risers' whose temperature rises more slowly after ovulation and this is normal?

Otherwise no spike can be associated with low progesterone - worth asking doc about? Easily fixed if this is the case so could be worth looking into.

Disclaimer: I don't know how to read charts very well
