Pain after HSG xray

I went for an HSG xray on wednesday to check my tubes for any damage/blockages following my ectopic in january. I expected some level of discomfort and pain but not quite what I experienced. Even though I took 2 nurofen an hour before, it was agony as the doctor pushed the dye through my tubes, like sharp stabbing pain on either side and then eventually period pain type cramps which I'd expected. I felt fine afterwards and then about 6hrs later felt pretty hideous with the pain again which didn't improve with 2 nurofen and paracetamol. I still have pain now, although today it is a bit better. Has anyone experienced this? Is it just inflammation?

Pink
I had exactly the same. felt a little out of sorts for a few days - I'm like that afer a smear too. I think its cos the cerix gets slightly dilates as well as the fluid being passed throuh your system. Keep on with the nurofem as this will redce the cramping which causes the majority of the pain. x

Thanks FC2007 - nurofen didn't even touch the pain yesterday even with paracetamol. Finally found the co-codamol 30/500 they gave me after my ectopic and aaah the bliss but ouch to the zinging headaches it gave me. Normally ok with smears - thank gawd!!

just looked back at my appalling one fingered typing!! . I should have added that the scarring in the tube which had the ectopic will be more tender anyway and this will be more painful. I hope DP is taking good care of you. xx
