Thinking about giving it a go before doing IVF.

How many times did you try it before becoming pg?

Or is it a waste of time and money?

I'm very intertested to read that you say the drugs are cumulative.
I was told that they didn't stay in your system and they definitely wouldn't have that effect.

Mind you....I was also told that about clomid and fell pg with my DS the month after I had finished it....so I guess you never know!

I've just had one cycle of IUI...next one next month.

another success with iui here, with ds1, pg first go but miscarried, then pg 2nd go resulting in ds1

ds2 worked on 3rd go,

dh also has just below average sperm count, and on ds2 it was at its lowest than previous attempts when i conceived..

good luck in your quest ttc

Hi Coggy. I was definitely told this by my consultant! There's so much contradictory information around...

I suppose the other thing is that as treatment progresses you try more and more things to improve your chances. Even more healthy eating, no alcohol etc. I did acupuncture. I also discovered that I'd had a lingering, practically symptomless urinary tract infection, which I got treated for a few days before my final successful IUI. I don't whether it made any difference at all but my instinct is that conception isn't going to happen if you're run down and/or have got an infection in your body?

Good luck with your next IUI...

Hi LA - thanks, I would be interested to read what the stats are. Good for you, discovering a sneaky way of getting that sort of info! I've seen stuff about the accumulative effect of IUI cycles too (I saw a graph today illustrating this on a general fertility info site). Thing is, with the clinic we are with currently, just 2 cycles will cost approximately the same as one cycle of IVF which has nearly a 50% success rate......

Coggy, good luck next month!

Bubbly, thanks for that

Can anyone please suggest a good clinic for IUI in Hampshire?

I would recommend IUI as less invasive. I have just had my 4th go and it's been successful (so far) I did a test on Saturday and its positive! Myself and my partner had had 3 goes and had spent a fortune so we decided we would go in and speak to the fertility clinic about going for ivf but he advised us to try IUI with some medication before we go down the ivf route as it was much more expensive and invasive and also the success rate for IUI keeps increasing until your 6th go where it plattos out. So my advice would be IUI as its a bit more 'natural'.

Good luck to you all Smile
