Help - Is it worth it a week before period?

Brief background...
TTC after a blighted ovum several years ago (now is the right time - married, good jobs etc).

Having never tried for a baby, i feel a bit overwhelmed, and so have downloaded FLO the app.

It is a week (9 days) before my period and it is saying... LOW CHANCE OF GETTING PREGNANT

I don't mean to sound ridiculous, but how so?
And is it worth still "trying" during this time? Xx

I don't think apps are v good at predicting fertility unless you use them as a way of storing other data e.g. Cervical mucus, cervical position, ovulation test, basal body temperature.

All of the above can help predict when ovulation might occur. As sperm can live for up to 5 days you are most fertile in the preceding 5 days before ovulation, day of ovulation and day after. Egg lives for 24 hours with decreasing chance of conception after first 12 hours.

So there's a pretty small window each month. Average is to ovulate 12-14 days before your period is due/12-14 days after last period. So if your period is due in 9 days it's pretty unlikely you are ovulating therefore won't get pregnant. But clearly that can't be confirmed unless you are doing the above measures...

I conceived both of my dds after only dtd 5 days before af was due. .
Dh worked away so could only have been then!
One was a week late and the other a few days late.
All other dc days early.

Normal 28 day cycle but must have ovulated late both times.
