Hi all,

Have been ttc to conceive nearly a year and a half. With serious effort from about September, GP advised me that if not pregnant in 6 months (due to our age) to see her for advice. Finally plucked up the courage (should read finally convinced DH to come with me) and have booked appointment today. Any advice ? What should I be asking ? What can I expect

Wish me luck !

At my appointment with GP (after 2.5 years of ttc) I was given blood test forms to have my progesterone and thyroid checked. We were also asked lots of questions i.e. how often we have sex, do we have any kids from previous relationships etc .....this was to see if we met the criteria to be referred to a fertility clinic. My dh was referred separately so that he could have sperm tested.

Weirdly, I ended up getting pregnant before having the tests and before our appointment with the fertility clinic. Funny how these things happen. The one month that it wasn't on my mind and only dtd once in my fertile window. I then sadly MC at 12 weeks, so my GP has just arranged for us to have these appointments again.

Due to your age and trying for over a year, I imagine you'll be offered blood tests and a referral to fertility clinic. If you aren't then you need to push. I was fobbed off the first time I ever went to GP about my fertility and now I know that sometimes you need to push for tests to be done. Don't be afraid to say that you want some help and answers. x

Thanks Forever and I'm sorry about your MC, appointment was really good. Hubby came with me and she linen him up for some tests alongside my bloods and referred us to a specialist. Need to wait 10 days til I can have bloods done. You never know it might happen naturally I just don't want to waste time if there is an underlying issue - good luck on your journey x
