I had a missed miscarriage in Dec and am now TTC again. I have jjust been taking a pronatal multivitamin and some evening primrose oil which seems to be making me feel a lot better.

Hi, I didnt take an supplements as such but I did feel very ill and run down after my mc. I decided to do the Carol Vorderman plan for a month. I didnt do it exclusively, I would say 90% of the time and it did make me feel physically a lot better.

I started taking the Wellwoman multi vitamins which have the necessary folic acid for TTC and evening primrose etc.. I also take a fish oil supplement from Boots because I don't eat fish.

Ialso went on holiday which did me the world of good after the mc and finishing my dissertation.

I followed the advice here
www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/nutrition.htm plus took a liquid multi vit / iron supplement for a while as i was a bit anaemic on advice of gp. Think it was called floradix. Then i moved on to a pronatal one for folic acid etc as was ttc again by then.

cityangel · 14/03/2007 14:17

I'm not sure about m/c specific but I take the following:

Vitamins
Sanatogen Pro-Natal
Mum Omega 3
Evening Primrose Oil
Flaxseed Oil
B6
Co-enyme Q10
Folic acid
Floradix - iron

herbal stuff
Agnus Castus
L'Arginine
Paba
Royal Jelly
Propolis
Pycgenol

Some only in the first part of my cycle.

CityAngel

I think some of those may overlap...I know pronatal supps have folic acid in (plenty) and you are taking more on top. Can this do more harm than good? I may be talking rubbish but might be worth looking into xx

Hi there, have been advised to take elevit (not sure if available there and also to take folic acid at least 6mths, in our case have been told to wait this long before trying again to allow myself to recover.

PinkElephant · 15/03/2007 12:39

Am going eu naturelle this time around. I'm taking folic acid only. I'm worried incase I induced my own ectopic with the bag of goodies I was taking ie pregnacare, omega 3 & 6 up to ovulation, drinking grapefruit juice etc. I know it sounds bonkers but never want to go throught that again!! Now don't quote me as I may be back on all of these if it takes us another 7months to get PG!!

PinkElephant · 15/03/2007 12:40

Yes please be careful Cityangel....

Twiga · 15/03/2007 12:58

I carried on taking pregnacare as although we didn't go back to seriously ttc for a couple of months after knew we would try again quite quick. Advice seems to be to try and take something along these lines for a month or so before ttc, during and up to first 12 weeks, in terms of building up folic acid supply etc. Not sure I would have thought to take anything if hadn't been already IYSWIM. Eat a reasonable diet anyway so didn't see the need for anything in addition to the pregnacare.

To be honest I'm not convinced that taking a pile of diff supplements is any guarentee of preventing future mc. Eating well and exercise prob the best thing in terms of feeling well. Very sad/hard thing to go through and I know myself if I could have guarentees I'd do whatever it took to not go through it a second time. Hope it's not too long before you're seeing a BFP.

cedar12 · 15/03/2007 13:22

I am just taking pregnacare and evening primrose. I am sur if you take to much you will just end doubling up on some stuff.

cityangel · 15/03/2007 14:00

Thanks for your advice I will go online and re-check the guidelines.

EdieMcredie · 16/03/2007 08:26

Best to be sure!

seaside72 · 16/03/2007 09:12

cityangel - I thnk that folic acid is fine to take higher dose as I believe that the body just processes what is needed and then you expel the rest.

Not sure about the rest
