TTC and feeling hopeless

Feeling completely defeated Sad
Me and my partner have been TTC for 8 months now with no results, I have a daughter from a previous relationship and it's starting to get me down. I have had checks done at the docs who have told me my hormone levels are how they should be, I'm ovulating just fine and even checked for pcos and diabetes to see if they could be a factor but all came back clear. How long has it taken you ladies to conceive, I feel like I might never have any more bundles of joy and with my daughter always asking for a little brother or sister I'm feeling at a loss

I have been there. It took me 5 years and I thought it would never happen. I do have particularly bad PCO. I needed ivf in the end but my pregnancy went smoothly. It's only natural to feel hopeless and defeated. We are conditioned as teenagers that you almost only have to look at a man to get pregnant and it feels such a let down that our bodies won't behave as they should! It often can take up to a year even with no issues. Yes it's wonderful you already have one child but once you set your heart on another it's hard to ignore that feeling. Wishing you lots of luck.

18 months now trying for our first. nothing wrong with us!

beyond frustrated and sad.

It took roughly a year here with no known problems (was in the middle of initial tests when we conceived!). I know it doesn't feel like it but eight months is hardly any time at all.. Try and keep positive! Smile

How old are you OP?

Mum21ttc · 05/05/2017 15:54

Thanks ladies and good luck to you londonjam, it's so frustrating especially when you have a late af and keep wondering. I'm 25 and when we all want it so much I find it so difficult to be patient :(

It took me 2.5 years to get pregnant ...I know that's probably not what you want to hear!! But I did get there in the end.
Most docs won't do tests until you've been TTC for at least 12 months, so I think it's a great thing that you've had some checks done and that it's all come back clear.
If you don't already, make sure that you track on a fertility app, use opks, take pre-conception vitamins, eat healthy and dtd a lot! Good luck x

Took us a while, we even went for tests. Everything came back fine, although the swimmers mobility could be better - according to the doctor.

2 months later I was pregnant. It can happen whenever. I suggest you both talk about taking a break from "trying" and start again after a months break. By a break - I don't mean no sex or using contraception. Have plenty of sex without contraception, but don't check or plan anything baby-related during that month. Take the pressure off and start again. It sometimes helps.
