Morning,

Apologies its a bit early to discuss EWCM...basically i have had the last 3 days of flashing smileys on my CB OPK, had some CM yesterday (The slippery type Hmm ) I have read i need the static smiley face to pin point the ultimate surge but when is that likely to be? We didnt DTD last night but i'm thinking there is still time...also i am on CD 20 now Confused

A flashing smiley would indicate you are in your fertile week therefore a high chance of conceiving but like you said, a static smiley face indicates your big surge and that you will ovulate within 12-36hrs. Some people get EWCM in the lead up to ovulation. Sounds like you should get going with BDing 😄

I tend to get 5days of flashing before my static smiley face

Thanks @Mummy I am already on CD21 so feel like its getting late in my cycle. I don't actually know how long my cycles are these days as this is my first cycle since a MMC in early Feb!

Better get down to business to cover all bases haha x

I would definitely dtd asap. Sperm can stay alive for a good few days in good EWCM.

I swapped from one of those electronic OPK to cheap disposable ones where you read directly off the stick, and find them much better. (they're on ebay) You can get a bit too 'obedient' with the electronic one, I found, it all seems so official with them, iyswim.

Also, with the cheap ones, I found myself testing about four times a day over a couple of days, and caught my surge that way much better. Some women (like me) have a short LF surge and if you're only checking once a day for example, you could easily miss it.

The EWCM is a really good predictor that ovulation is coming. So I'd say, try not to get too obsessed with the OPK, though it can be useful, and watch your body. The temperature rise is meant to be v reliable too though I don't bother with it. And if you can, dtd as much as you can once the ewcm shows up.

I used CB OPK and cheap OPK to cover the day

I've just got the dual clear blue ovulation and stared taking it today for the first time it was just a plain round circle ( my fertile week starts 6th according to Ovia) but I tracking my ewcm aswell at the min I just feel wet all the time ( sorry tmi) xx

I bought a Clearblue dual hormone OPK a few months ago.

I'd say just aim to have sex at least every other day during your fertile week (if you know roughly when that is) rather than be ruled by the OPKs

The CB seem better (but way more expensive) are they are less ambiguous than the cheaper OPKs

I'd also echo what others have said re reading the subtle signs that your body gives you.

I've used CB OPK since January and no BFP so not going to spend any mire money on them!
Just no point as I know when my fertile window is so we just have to keep trying.
