Levonelle MAP

Hi all!
On the 21st I had a condom failure (slid up to the end and was very nearly off, he felt stuff outside of the condom) I took the levonelle MAP approx 13 hours after. Here's the bit I'm worried/excited about, the day we had sex was my most fertile day of the month Shock and I know this because I track to the day with an app.

I've heard lots of stories about people falling pregnant with MAP especially at their most fertile day so just wondered if anyone has any stories about this and knows what I should be looking out for (symptoms, bleeding etc) Also when I should first POAS. I have a whole bag of internet cheapies. Wink

(This was the 21st sex, 22nd MAP, and it's now the 27th so 6days since sex)

Thanks in advance!!

As a general rule the map is ineffective if you have already ovulated. Therefore if you think you ovulated that day chances are it was too late. ( but you sound like you would like it to be a happy accident?!)

Some people get implantation bleeding, some don't. A lot of the "symptoms" are similar to symptoms period is going to arrive.

I would wait til next Fri or Saturday to test and use first morning pee.

I got my positive last weekend at 12 days after ovulation and have been more tired but that's it really. No spotting but I had with my first child.

Good luck!

Hi Emma,
Thanks for your response!
That's what I thought regarding how it works but it seems like no official websites actually understand the pill! I also find it strange that pharmacys and GP's (presumably) dont tell you this.

For me it would be a lovely suprise, I've worked with children for years and although I'm only 19 I know I am ready (as you can be) for motherhood. However my partner, although he wouldn't leave me, has made it clear he doesn't feel ready and is too young (21) so I guess time will tell.

Congratulations on your BFPFlowers
12dpo is quite average I believe?

Because of my work I'm always tired so a hard one to judge! I've been needing a wee loads the last couple of days but pretty sure that's just in my head.

Thanks for your help!

As a Pharmacist I was taught that levonelle is also meant to make it more difficult for implantation to occur but reading more recent information this doesn't seem to occur all the time. I think the window for failure is very small as an egg only lives about 12-24 hours so I'd think it is only from if you ovulated 12-24 hours before you have sex until you get the map which is supposed to be as early as possible after the event so really only a 1-2 day window and only if you happen to ovulate at exactly that time!

Thank you! Yes I think that's an average enough time for bfp, same as with my son.

physicskate · 28/04/2017 06:53

Two things. Apps are not always accurate if you don't use opks and or temping to track ov. And also there is only about a 20% chance of pregnancy even when everything is timed perfectly etc...

Add map into the picture, and the chances may well me lower... so it kinda sounds like you're getting your hopes up.

Poppydwight · 28/04/2017 17:18

I understand the chances are slim but my post was written due to the ambling of stories I've read whereby somebody was ovulating, took MAP, and fell pregnant

Update: now 8dpo and vomited today.. with no explanation whatsoever? V confused as too early for MS right?

OP posts:
Emma2803 · 30/04/2017 20:05

Yes it would be too early for morning sickness I think. Though I never had any sickness when I was pregnant with my son so maybe I'm not really not affected by hormones in that way (says she who is 5 weeks pregnant and hoping to avoid it this time again too!!!)

Poppydwight · 30/04/2017 20:22

Well I hope you do avoid it! I'm still trying to work out why I was sick.. nothing online so really strange. Probably completely unrelated!

Are you hoping you are pregnant? I only ask because you track your fertility and have lots of ic hpt and you used the word excited, those sound like the actions of someone ttc, but then advise you took the map and that you bf doesnt want children yet. Im not judging you, you sound very clued up and i know lots of 19year olds that are great parents, i would just be concerned that you are young and are with someone who has made it clear they arent ready.
I suppose all you can do now is wait, it is possible to get a bfp on a hpt at 12dpo (sometimes sooner) but you may want to wait to see if your af is late first. If you arent pregnant you may want to consider other bc options other than or as well as condoms for the time being to avoid any accidenta ( i really dont mean to sound like a nagging old cow) but ttc is definately something you both need to be on the same page about. Good luck op and i hope the situation works out how you would like it to.

I took the MAP the day after sex but was very excited when I stayed pregnant. Head and heart are sometimes in conflict, that's OK Smile

Poppydwight · 01/05/2017 20:54

Thank you for your lovely messages really nice and reassuring to see support! I agree with head/heart. My partner has been very clear in saying as much as he doesn't feel ready.. if it was accidental he would support me and the child and I do believe that. I

(as silly as some may think) I believe a lot in fate, and things happening for a reason. I think this will be a case of time will tell.

Personally, I work in a nursery and have done for years, I nanny a lot out of work hours and would be delighted to have a child but I understand some things are worth waiting for and if that means having my partner as their father then so be it.

In this case however, having got a bfn on a sensitive, supposedly early result hpt this morning (5 days before expected af) I am assuming that the MAP has worked.
Regarding bc options I have tried a few, had an awful awful experience with implant that nearly destroyed said relationship a couple of years ago.

Congrats on your bfp how many weeks are you? Wish you all the happiness Flowers

Hi all. Opinions please! I took an internet cheapie test this morning that gave a bfn. Felt "off" in ways I cant describe so decided to take a different brand of test in the afternoon.

This was the result, the 'line' faded in 2 1/2 hours. I personally think it's a bfn but would love opinions

Thanks

@Poppydwight
Hiya
What time frame
Did the second line come up ? It looks grey so could be an e vap line which do fade away as time goes on. Take a clear blue digital and FRER to be sure xx

fluffykitties · 04/05/2017 15:31

@Poppydwight
Also wanted to say the lines look very close together not seen any that close before so very possible e vap line xx

Poppydwight · 04/05/2017 15:49

The line appeared around 2-3 minutes after use. It was, however, a bfn as AF literally just came and that must been why I felt "off" all though I never feel anything when AF is coming. That's that answered then! MAP did indeed work.

I've honestly had some
Of the worst bleeds from taking MAP ! It can force them on and it's nasty and also make you feel quite unwell xxxx
