"The shot contraception"

Hi net mums,

Wondered if you have any advice on "the shot contraceptive" I had my first injection in the bum cheek a month ago and I've heard it either stops periods completely or you'll get irregular blood spotting..
I've been quite heavy on a period for nearly 2 weeks now and yesterday i had quite a large blood clot come out.. (Sorry tmi)

I gave birth 3 months ago.. I don't know if the large blood clot could be anything to do with that!?

Anybody had experience of this?

I had this done years ago but after 6 months I stopped having it done as it didn't agree with me.
From what I remember, my period stopped completely as soon as I'd had it done x
