Hello everybody. First time posting. New to Mumsnet! Smile DH and I have been ttc for 9 months with no joy Sad I am 30 and DH is 26. I am overweight at 14st and 5"6. DH and I are both smokers (I know we need to stop). Could this be why it's not happening? Or am I just being impatient? Otherwise fit and healthy. Just bought opk and thermometer to start tracking. Any advice would ne great!

I was told that being overweight is only really a significant problem if the excess weight is impacting on your hormonal balance and therefore whether you are ovulating regularly etc (I'm happy to be corrected.) Always a good idea to lose the weight before getting pregnant though for general health reasons (I'm regretting not losing more before getting pregnant last month to be honest) and of course to stop the smoking for the same reason as can effect egg quality.

Great you're going to be OPK-ing etc as you will get a much clearer idea of when you are ovulating and when your fertile days each month are happening.

Good luck :)
