Getting Ready For Baby Challenge - Thread 7

We are a bunch of ladies who are either

• humping (TTC)
• by humping yet (waiting to TTC)
• humped (BFP)

And everything in between!

We've had 8 BFPs since January (and counting!) and we love a bit of lucky lube and a squinter on 9DPO - come and join the madness!

I feel really bad, we went t TGI and i had to have a steak but i couldn't bring myself to say well done, so i had medium 🤔 hope Keith's gonna be okay!

Well just cleaned and tidied half the house, what a glam Friday night! Will do the other half in the morning before the midwife gets here! Night all x

Ahh buzz I had a dream I ate a rare burger! It was sooo good!

Been playing on John Lewis online just now choosing all the baby bits! Shame it's too soon to buy them! I hope DH lets me pick all the stuff (I already know what buggy and car seat I want!).

Slightly panicking that before December we need to

• gut and redo the bathroom completely (third set of builders have just quoted then said they aren't available anymore!)
• replaster and redecorate DD's room
• finish decorating living room (skirting boards, paint it) and get bespoke cupboards fitted , bookshelves etc
• get new door frames and doors for the living room and bathroom
• new wardrobe (fitted) for our bedroom
• declutter the house much more DH I'm looking at you
• buy a new car...

We don't have much space for a baby! I'm thinking maybe a Moses basket rather than buying a big standalone crib/cot. There is literally nowhere to put it! And nowhere to change baby either, bathroom too small for a changing station. Hmm..

Oh my goodness Wiggley, that is madly exciting!! So happy for you. So what's the plan? Starting next month? Are you going to go mad with OPKs or pretend to go all casual You and para can be cycle buddies.

Oh grumpy totally hear you with the to do list. We've got a room for the baby but it's currently full of DH's stuff. I've told him he's got until summer to sort it :) I'm desperate to start organising already. Also waiting for utility room to be finished so can get a tumble dryer.. oh and then going to turn one end of dining room into a snug and put a sofa in there. Hope midwife meeting goes well! The babygros are so beautiful.

otters how are the flashing CB faces? Holding out for a static for you today. Honestly test at midday rather than first thing (or both) x

grumpy I have started an Amazon baby list! So much stuff to add! And so much to do! Deffo want a tumble dryer jupiter got loads to clear out and redecorate before November!

Why is it that it's impossible to wake up for work during the week and the one day we have nothing planned apart from a major lie in I'm WIDE awake at 6:45!! 🙄

grumpy my SIL does changes literally wherever. Mainly on the living room floor! Don't worry about a dedicated space. And a Moses basket would be perfect!

I'm the same buzz, second nighttime wee at 5:30 and awake ever since urgh..

Well I'm on day 3 now of positive OPKs. So I have no clue when or if I'm ovulating, when to stop DTD and what to call 1DPO. DTD ED for the last 6 days running out of steam a bit Have you got your static yet otters?

From the blood tests I run at work, pregnancy is one of the biggest causes of iron deficient anaemia and definitely not unusual. Any excuse for a steak eh!

Totally hear you on the never ending to do list Grumpy, we put off all the house stuff last year cos it was all about the wedding! It's a dilemma cos i want to do loads but i know we also need to save cos my income will drop to about a quarter of what it is now😭

A snug sounds lovely jupiter & from what i hear, a tumble dryer is essential.... especially the time of year it's going to be!

Urgh, i was up at 2.30am for a wee and awake for ages... trying to drag myself up for work... definitely scheduling in a nap late afternoon, we're going round friends for dinner and i need to stay awake!

We currently have a housemate/lodger living in what will be baby's room... I guess we gained a few months rent! The flat is generally a giant tip and hoarding ground. Neither me or dh are tidy people. I had such a long to do list, but felt too crap when I was pregnant and too miserable since. Really, really need to do some things before I get pregnant again.

Sorry for all the early wake ups. I've slept so badly this last week, but think I actually got s full night last night and feel a lot more stable. Really hope it lasts more than a few hours.

That's a whole lot of humping jb! Can you give yourselves the day off then carry on EOD for another week or so? Just to give yourself the best chance to catch that egg!

I'm doing an exercise class this morning, then having a very lazy weekend! I might watch Finding Dory as I haven't seen it yet.

JB that’s excellent DTD-ing. Always quite impressed by the ED-ers. I’d guess you might ovulate today? If you’ve been surging over the last three days surely it must be today or tomorrow. I’d count tomorrow as 1DPO. Fingers crossed for you this month!

Oh Hb I so sympathise - enjoy your power nap later. Oh god yes its going to be freezing when we have our newborns. Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year so the combination of that and the last weeks of pregnancy are going to be too much excitement for me I like the idea of a snug and using it as a space to do baby things and also to store the every day baby stuff (toys, bouncers etc) so the living room can remain vaguely adult and somewhere me and DH can be comfortable when baby’s sleeping. I’m probably being so naive though and actually the baby will take over every free space in our tiny terrace house!

Dancing maybe you could put together a vague to-do list of things for the house like grumpy. It might be really therapeutic actually to make some small changes - I know that I always feel more in control when the house is in order. I’ve made a spring ‘to do’ list and in fact even just writing it out helped me feel better.

So it's day 5 of flashing smileys. I have no sticks left and I'm starting to think it's never going to happen! I don't know how accurate the CBFM is. It says on the leaflet to use fmu to test. I'm going to order some ic for next cycle whilst desperately hoping I won't be needing them !
jb we're hump buddies ha ha. Also dtd 6 days in a row then skipped one and back to ed again! DH is keen we don't miss the egg if it's there.

Otters I just checked my Ovia and I got 4 days of High (equivalent to flashing smileys) before I got my Peak on the advanced CBFM. It picks up both hormones too. It also said to use FMU because of this. Good luck, hope you ov soon!

Jupiter yes I feel slightly more in control now that DH is also being a bit more pro active with getting these things organised. I had a massive tidy this morning and filled 2 charity shop bags with DD's clothes she has outgrown. I contacted another building firm this morning so fingers crossed they can get it done. DH is going to speak to the local joiners about all the cupboards we need.

DH is also going to sort the car, i think we are going to be sensible and get a second hand Alfa Romeo estate (it's called the sportwagon I think) rather than lease a new car as our income will go down when DH becomes a SAHD next year.

Jupiter a snug sounds lovely - I can't wait to get all cosy and Christmassy with the baby! We are also getting two wood burning stoves installed in living room and master bedroom.

Dancing so far it has been random unreliable builders for the big jobs like replastering although we are going to try and save money by doing some painting ourselves. My mum has offered to help. My DH actually did the living room floor himself (it's chevron parquet, so not that easy!). The main problem is that we have no time because we both work FT.

This car seat is amazing! It swivels round so you can get baby out. And you can use it from birth to 4yo. It also clicks onto the bugaboo chassis with adaptor clips.

This weekend I am definitely going to sort through all the clothes/wardrobes in our bedroom. Have loads of things I will never fit into again. They need to stop stealing my very limited space!! currently wasting time looking at my lovely wedding photos though Jupiter I'm really bad when I've got a long list. I find it overwhelming, impossible to start, and I end up doing none of it!
