Getting Ready For Baby Challenge - Thread 7

We are a bunch of ladies who are either

• humping (TTC)
• by humping yet (waiting to TTC)
• humped (BFP)

And everything in between!

We've had 8 BFPs since January (and counting!) and we love a bit of lucky lube and a squinter on 9DPO - come and join the madness!

Aww buzz glad the scan went well. Must've been amazing to hear the heartbeat.

hB love the announcement plans - so cute!

I think I'm going to reflect on the chat and see how I feel closer to August. I don't really want to do any testing as I think the tests are not the be all and end all and like you say they don't show the whole story anyway.

I also think law firms will always act in their own interest and screw you over if it suits them so I'd have no guarantees that I'd get promoted in the next few years and then I could give up some fertile years for nothing.

The best joke is this woman is meant to champion our gender equality efforts!! Honestly the jokes write themselves here.

Spoke to DH about my diet plans and that I find it really difficult when he's not doing it too. So we have agreed to eat healthy and I will carry on with diet and he will have some carbs as his new job is very physical so he's starving! I'll just cook two versions of the same tea and make him some potatos or rice to fill him up lol!

Baby quilt for my sisters friend is going well. So pleased I managed to line up all the squares! Just need to get some backing fabric and something thick and warm for the middle now. What a shame...will have to go to the fabric shop... 🙄😁

Oh that's what else I said before it got deleted...

parsnips I can't believe she said that! Please take no notice and do what you want! It's your life and your perfectly entitled to have a family whenever you like! Grrr!

We told DPs mum and dad and family. My niece has a little mini theatre and she was putting on little shows, I said let's do one and everyone was watching as we opened the curtains and held up the scan photo. Their faces were priceless!

Buzz that's such a cute announcement! Will this be the first grandchild? I'm thinking of giving my mum the little baby hat I bought in holland with DD.

Well I had the day to myself so went to the department store and got not only some lovely soft CK underwear and bras but also two pairs of shoes (pink leather carvela espadrille wedges and some black esprit hi top trainers)! I also got some long line base layers from GAP in prep for bump.. and this T shirt / pyjama 😁

Haha, my make up was in my bag so quickly added a second flick before i went into my appointment, & no one was any the wiser!!

Good bit of retail therapy grumpy , a good way to lift your spirits & take your mind off things!

I did my sister's friend's hair earlier, she's 22 weeks preggo and has the cutest neatest bump... was doing some very subtle questioning without hopefully giving the game away! She hasnt had any morning sickness and didn't find out til 7 weeks! (Me now) I don't know how she didnt suspect!! Maybe you just notice more when you know what to look for!!

Haha love it Grumpy! Love the miffy hat too. My niece was called miffy when she was a bump! It certainly took a few weeks until after she was born before I got used to her proper name!!

Hi girls! Thanks hb and lol at the one eyeliner flick! Sorry I have been MIA, I have had the flu and a really bad cough that's knocked me for 6 so literally haven't been able to contribute anything of any worth the past few days but have been reading along!
buzz that's so cute! I'm sure everyone got a surprise!! Glad scan went well and dates will explain your late positive test I guess! Would also explain why your avoiding fertile week might not have avoided it at all!
parsnips that's definitely sounds like she had an ulterior motive, I wonder if she is leaving and wants to poach you too! Like everyone has said, work will always be there, my mum is still going from strength to strength in her career and put it all on hold when we were small and now she's the top of her game so it won't be the end of your career success for sure!
grumpy so sorry your feeling so anxious but glad yoga is helping you, I can definitely empathise with feeling out of control, I hate it! I hope you can find someone to talk to and reassure you as much as possible, also that hat is too sweet! Can't beat retail therapy, I bought some of them penny's soft bra's today and I'm very excited to have non crushed boobs!
I don't know how I'll do announcements, will have to have a think!
And penguin I so agree, whatever misdirected feminist said women can have and do it all shot us all in the foot!

So my number on the panel has been reached, looks like I'll have a new job imminently! Have a two week holiday booked in July so hoping they'll give me the time for that, will raise it when they get in touch again, no word on where I've been assigned but so long as it's not a ridiculous commute I'll probably take it, been feeling anxious about it as longer hours so won't be around for DS in the afternoons but DH says I'm more bothered about it than he is which is probably true! Anyway will hear more in the next fortnight so just sitting tight for now! It's good though as I'll get full maternity pay which I wouldn't have got in my current position so that's a definite plus!

Thanks jb hoping they do on the grounds that they give no time line when your on the panel, you may never be called so I guess they can't expect to have people put life on hold! However I won't mention that I'm pregnant until I have started and signed all the paperwork!

Ohh buzz what wonderful news!! And a lovely picture. Huge congrats. I wonder if you are measuring smaller because you maybe ovulated and implanted later? (hence late BFP). That makes us almost perfect cycle buddies as I’m 7+6 and currently due on November 25th. You must both be so happy.

Tigger I’m glad that you’re healing physically.. the decision to go for it or wait until after AF must be really difficult. What does your DH think? Glad you were both able to go and do something ‘normal’ like drinks at the pub. That must help.

parnsips I am staggered by what one your senior partners said to you. Literally so shocked that I ended up reading it out to my DH. What a manipulative, insensitive and stupid thing for her to say (whatever her intentions). Really irresponsible. You need to stick to your own plan and don’t be influenced by her. Although the pay in the NHS is fairly poor at least it’s family friendly. Unbelievable. gumpy is absolutely right though that you can come back after mat leave and offer the company just as much. Don’t feel like you have to do fertility tests because of her - even if they show everything is fine it doesn’t guarantee that leaving for three years is a safe option.

Can anyone help with SMEP? This is my ovia with the hearts showing when we DTD positive opk on 12th April so assuming ovulation happened yesterday on cd14. Considering the last three nights have been BD nights do we need to go for tonight too? Just because I know online it says to DTD on +opk and the next two nights. DH is tired and I'm not sure he has four nights in a row in him. We could just do tomorrow and then Sunday or Monday. Don't know how strict you have to be about SMEP

DH's bestie beat the news out of him yesterday! He's got a little one and trying for second so definitely don't mind him knowing... he's a big woman tho... that would not be on most guy's radars!

Teddy I'm afraid I don't know much about SMEP but only do what feels comfortable!

My DH isn't too interested in sex and so ttc is the only way I get any sort of a physical relationship. I'll try my luck but if not have my one for luck tomorrow and that's us finished. If we get a BFP that's me done forever though as he doesn't want any more children after #2 😆

grumpy I love the top! Glad you had some nice retail therapy :) it's not, they've got loads haha but they were thrilled. It was one of their grandkids who's 4 held up the photo for me, it was super cute!

teddy im only just trying SMEP for the first time this month so don't have any experience. Sounds like you've got it well covered. I would think it's ok.

I don't know anything about SMEP, so I don't have any advice teddy, sorry! Sounds like you've pretty much had all your fertile days covered though... Don't put too much pressure on yourself and DH.

Just changed my 'conception date' on Ovia to the date we dtd after my FW, based on that it's changed the due date to 26th November! Exactly what the scan said! How weird is that! I'm stupidly excited that the dates match I'm such a loser 😂

Evening gals!

DH family announcements went well!! I gave MIL this but had put a thank you card on top for something else so she took ages reading that and then eventually noticed what was underneath!! Cue lots of excitement but they'd predicted it was coming! (I want genuine surprise - but think that only comes when you do it buzz style 😂) MIL had already bought some building blocks that had been on sale & decided she wanted to be called Nana (pre announcement!)

In other news, my hot water bottle died this eve (its probably over 10 years old so doesn't owe me anything) DH was filling it up and water was pouring out the bottom... it's my lifeline at the mo so emergency purchase tomorrow!
