We are a bunch of ladies who are either

  • humping (TTC)
  • by humping yet (waiting to TTC)
  • humped (BFP)

And everything in between!

We've had 8 BFPs since January (and counting!) and we love a bit of lucky lube and a squinter on 9DPO - come and join the madness!

Glad you've got a plan Tigger & nothing better than a Say Yes to the Dress binge to pass the day Flowers

Just went into the docs to try and sort my booking appointment! (Was geared up for a fight after the annoying phonecall last week) but the lady was super lovely & i'm booked in for next Wed! I'll only be 7+5 but they seemed cool with that! Got TONNES of paperwork to read in advance & a pot to wee in! DH is keen to come cos he's off and keen to be involved where he can, hopefully this will be cool!

Eeeek exciting Mummy Wait til Wed to avoid uncertainty!! (Altho the early testing club will totally disagree with me!)

Otter temping is a bit of a hindsight thing but will confirm ovulation and good to see your cycle so clearly! (I did it one cycle before i was actually TTC but i go to the loo a couple of hours before waking up and you need a good spell of uninterrupted sleep to get an accurate read!)

penguinsandotters · 10/04/2017 17:04

tigger say yes to the dress is a good way to relax and think about something else! Will be thinking of you tomorrow

grumpy how exciting to have all the scans booked. Have you made a name list yet or waiting to find out the sex first?

Hb well done on sorting your booking appointment. Your DH sounds so sweet. So excited for you!

mummy we love a testing day on here. Do keep us updated!

Is it just me or anyone else counting down to the long weekend ahead?

HeyJupiter · 10/04/2017 17:33

orange exciting! Get cracking with the ICs if you like finding out slowly but surely (my preferred method) :) Really hopeful that the lube will have done it for you!

otters I seem to remember with the CB fertility monitor you have to start using it on a particular day of your cycle (is that right grumpy?) Oh and yes to the countdown to the weekend!

Tigger wedding planning is a lovely distraction! The tipis look gorgeous.

seven just googled cossatto prams - wow those fabrics are beautiful! Knowing DH though he’ll just want a black one… will have to crochet a nice bright baby blanket to make it a bit more interesting.

grumpy private scan plan sounds excellent. Maybe that’s made you feel a bit more in control? God knows I could do with that. Only two weeks until my booking in appointment so hoping that comes round quickly.

Hb excellent about the booking in appointment, that sounds much better than waiting until you’re 12 weeks! So envious of you guys all getting yours so early. I’ll be 9+2 by the time mine happens. Haven’t been told to read anything/wee in anything beforehand.

DancingUnicorn · 10/04/2017 18:16

Glad you don't have to wait too long Tigger. Is your oh able to get the time off to be with you? Will be thinking of you.

Grumpy glad you are feeling a little better this afternoon. Hormones are cruel little buggers, and you should moan and cry all you need. It's such a hard and stressful time. I'm sorry the work travel is making things more stressful for you.

Seven I've also decided to take it easy on the booze and caffeine. I'm used to not having it now. I'm a bit scared that I might end up an emotional wreck if I get drunk. I've never done mindfulness/yoga. I was planning to take up pregnancy yoga, but maybe I should just start regular yoga. Now the evenings are lighter, want to start walking home from work some of the way but I've tried before and usually fail. Maybe people can police me too!!

It's definitely an interesting question about telling people. I think I got it about right for me. My oh said he would want to tell our parents sooner next time (told at 7 weeks this) but I think I'd still like to wait. Guess time will tell who'll win that battle! ;)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 18:37

Jupiter and otters that's right you need to set up a new cycle on the CBFM on day 1-4 or it locks you out for a month!! 😒

Speaking of which does anyone want mine? I know it sounds a bit gross but no actual pee touches the machine as it's all in plastic cases even the tests (pretty sure it just reads the lines...!). I think I've got about 15 OPK sticks left for it and 4 preg test sticks - they can only be used with that type of monitor and they are pricey. Happy to post it to anyone who wants it for free - just PM me.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 18:49

Thanks dancing and let me know if you want any yoga tips! I need to be bullied into exercise too so we can motivate each other! Really want to stay active.

Otters yes we have a girl list and a boy list. We are thinking of Mieke (it's Dutch and pronounced Mee-Kuh) for a girl or Finbar (Finn) for a boy... those are current favourites but we also like:
Josefin (Josie)
Coraline,
Carmen (DH has vetoed but I love it!),
Persephone (Penny),
Dana (as a middle name)
Cara,
Scarlet
....and for boys:
Hunter,
Frederick (Freddie),
Leon/Leonard (Leo),
Julian (as a middle name),
Maximilian (Max)

DH has an Irish O' surname so prefer consonant ending names

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 18:54

Congrats on the booking in appointment hb! Mine is next Saturday (22nd). At my house! I think because of the home birth request I put in ... so they can judge my tiny messy flat

Whoa mood swings - feeling excited again - it really helps to chat with you all on here thank you so much for listening xx

On way home now and DH got off early so is making me Japanese pancakes - the only thing missing is a nice cold beer! Might actually get some of the dubious 0% ones!

HbH · 10/04/2017 19:04

Great names Grumpy love a bit of name chat!

We've already decided on Nico for a girl, possibly with Lula for a middle name.

Boys are so hard! The list is:
Sebastian
Theo
Franco
Hudson
(Arlo)

But neither of us sold on any of them... just as well there's most of this year to come up with some inspo! (Secretly hoping for a girl anyways!)

I had biere Moretti 'zero' in italy which was good... I wouldn't have known the difference if I didn't know! We had a complicated system for getting rid of the bottles to conceal that they were alch free! I think my sis got through her pregnancy on Becks Blue!

DancingUnicorn · 10/04/2017 19:05

Yes grumpy! We can be active together. Though I'm starting rather than staying!! Finding it hard to do much more than a ten minute walk this week, but from next week hopefully I'll be better!

Confused I'm sitting in a room full of NFL fans waiting to see Kirk Cousins! Plenty of Bears jerseys about! It is the bears, right? :s

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 19:07

Thanks for the tips HB I love moretti anyway!
I love Nico and Sebastian (actually we might consider Sebastien- a nod to the French 😉)
I'm really hoping for a girl too - I guess I want to know asap so I can get used to the idea of a boy!

MrsC2017 · 10/04/2017 19:07

Evening all! I cooked and enjoyed a meal for the first time today in the longest time! Went for a walk and was productive around the house, feeling much better today, I slept great too, couldn't stay away for the end of the masters and didn't even hear DH get up this morning, DS didn't get up early either so am praying this is the start of feeling better even though I've said that before on a random good day! PMA all the way!
orange I have a good feeling for you this month!!
grumpy great news about your scan being booked it! Hopefully time flies! Freddie is on my list too, although convinced already its a girl! I guess I'll find out in November! I have an Irish O' surname too, the C of Mrs C is DHs name which I actually didn't take officially!
confused hope the 20th flies in, hopefully with the long weekend time will pass quickly! I hope the nauseu today was a random once off and not a sign of things to come!
tigger will be thinking of you tomorrow xxxx
unicorn taking up yoga sounds like a great plan, it's so good for your head as well as your body!
hb great about booking in appointment, not too far off at all!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 19:09

Actually hb Franco is my fave from your list! I couldn't use it though because of DH annoying surname! Even though I don't have his surname so why should the baby

Dancing start with a little and build it up. When I ran a 10k I literally just did a bit further each day until I could run all the way. With yoga it's very slow progress but you get the benefits even if you are not fit /flexible at all which is what I love about it

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 19:11

MrsC are you waiting till the birth to find out? I am just so impatient! I've a feeling it's a boy but who knows! Is yours going to have the C or the O'? We are using my surname as a second middle name I think

DancingUnicorn · 10/04/2017 19:15

Yep grumpy, this is why I'll start with walking home. I'll start by walking half an hour to about half way and hopefully build from there. Hop on a bus at any point. Although I think work will be mega busy over the next few weeks which is a good distraction but I'm usually too lazy to walk when I don't finish till 7ish. I'm generally too lazy!

MrsC good point about yoga being good mentally too. Think I might sign up to a class. Don't think I'd be motivated enough to do it at home!

HbH · 10/04/2017 19:18

We have a one syllable surname beginning with F so i quite like the idea of two F names!! (DH not entirely sold) Lots to factor in! My nephew is Max so can't use but I absolutely love it!

So glad you're feeling on better form MrsC! Long may it continue! Smile

MrsC2017 · 10/04/2017 19:21

Yep grumpy I'm going to wait, I did last time and it was lovely and the guessing was fun! DS has a double barrelled name officially as in on his birth cert and passport but he doesn't use it for anything else and in school he just has DHs name, DH wants to change it and I'm fine with that, this one will take DHs name, he doesn't ask for much in life so he can have this small victory against my feminist wishes, but my own name stays as is!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 19:43

MrsC at least you don't have the O' issue when choosing first names I guess. Although I'm curious as to how you double barrelled it for DS; I always thought -O' is way too much punctuation! I guess just no hyphen?
Same here, kept my name due to feminist principles and DD has my name, but DH wants the baby to have his or both surnames. I'm ok with it as I already have one DC with my name. And baby will have mine as a middle name.

confusedat23 · 10/04/2017 20:08

Omfg Dancing where are you!?!?... hes QB for Washington Redskins... not sure why so many bears jerseys maybe they have tried to nab him from them =/... DH will be dissapointed he is not there!!

Thanks Mrs ended up in GPs today because after the nausea my temp was all over the place and i had loads of Palpitations so i'm having ECG tomorrow but being preggo and Anaemic means i'm more likely to get them so not a big stress

Some lovely names coming up... me and DH have agreed on ours already... we have a Generic Girls name as our surname so its actually quite easy to match names... boy will be Noah Aden Brady ;-) as its a superbowl baby n all that
Girl will be Freyja Rose

Jupiter they are lovely and bright... i am very very alternative so i wanted something slightly differernt and so it makes it even worse that people could even suggest i push a buggy of the same design as someone we will likely be going out with quite often!... tbh it was mainly then hour spend explaining how its such an amazing buggy that made me lose my temper... i spend hours reading all the awards and reviews and stuff just for us to say we will get it in a month and them just to jump in and act like they didn't know!

Its lovely that those of you ladies who kept your names are letting DC have DH's names... it shows a lovely compromise!

DancingUnicorn · 10/04/2017 20:31

I'm at a fan forum in London confused. Jarvis Landry is here too. Very cool! Super bowl name is cute!!! :)

I changed my surname at both weddings. I'm becoming more and more of a feminist as I get older though! Especially when I imagine raising a girl! I'd still probably choose to change my name tbh. Don't really even know why!

HbH · 10/04/2017 20:34

Just googled Cosatto confused they're SO fab! Totally want the flamingo one!!

penguinsandotters · 10/04/2017 21:43

Loving all the baby names - some great and unusual names. TTC later in life means less name choices as I can't pick the same names as my close friend's children or nieces and nephews. Worried I'll jinx things so deliberately not thinking about baby names yet.

grumpy and jupiter i'm already on day 7 so is it too late to use the CBFM this month? According to the leaflet, you start testing on a set day depending on the length of your cycle. I should start tomorrow so will give it a go. I don't have a thermometer to temp but will order one for next cycle.

confused the Cossato prams are lush!

Mummyme87 · 10/04/2017 21:54

Sebastian is an ace name. My DS is a Sebastian 😀

HbH · 10/04/2017 22:31

Ah fab! I really like it Mummy but it was almost my DH's name and apparently his sister would be like "WTF? We've been taking the piss out of that name for 30 years!" It's staying firmly on the list tho!

Otters I'm worried about jinxing stuff with premature name/maternity wear/nursery set up considerations, however I've come to the conclusion that it's far healthier to focus on these rather than negative things! Also, make sure you get a thermometer which reads two decimal placesSmile

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/04/2017 23:57

Otters day 7 not too late to start testing but you just need to make sure you have "set up a new cycle" on the monitor on day 1-4.

Well I'm up with D&V.. thanks to something I ate... really worried so DH called 111 and I'm gonna have some kind of out of hours appointment in next 2hrs but don't know what yet. Hope little bean hasn't been damaged. Just stopped shaking enough to type this. Urgh. Such bad luck. We ate the same thing and DH is fine. I suspect it was raw egg??? So scared - no idea what the risks are to the embryo

TheGrumpySquirrel · 11/04/2017 00:30

Urgh just been told to go to EPU in the morning. Too shivery to sleep
