Explain my CM and OPK's to me!

So today I am on CD9. I've been a bit crampy today and just been to the loo to find a big old blob of EWCM which had a tiny streak of blood in it. What is this? Why is this?! My OPK was negative 4 hours ago, not even close to a positive. Why do I have EWCM now? Is it normal to get is way before ovulation?

This TTC business is odd.

Sometimes ovulation makes you bleed and an OPK is positive a day of two before you ovulate so you would expect it to be negative on the day itself. How long have you been testing OPKs and how long are your cycles normally? Finally, is it definitely EWCM rather than just CM?

Ewcm is not a reliable indicator for everybody - me included, I get ewcm at three or four times in a cycle. Opks - i always say do at least one full cycle of opks twice a day and tape them in order, with labels of dates/times, onto a piece of paper for reference. Keep going with the opks until the end of the cycle just in case you have two surges or something else not textbook

This is my first cycle using OPK's. Yesterdqy was my first day using ( I've been told that it's best to start on CD8 on a few forums and pages) yesterday's was negative too but darker than today's line was. This is today's line. EWCM isn't something that I get through my cycle, it's usually concentrated to two or three days next to each other.

Oh, and definitely CWCM. Very thick and jelly like.

If you have two to three days of EWCM then maybe you will have it for the next couple of days and then get a positive OPK which would bring you in line for ovulating on CD13 or 14.

I get it about 4 days before I ovulate
