Ok so I need to brush up a bit, it's been over 2 years since I was trying!

Bought myself a load of cheapie opks. The other day thought it may have been near positive, but it wasn't quite. And now I have done 3 today and all of them haven't had a second line! The test packet tells me if there is no line they are faulty. But three in a row?! No idea.

Anyway. I am also tracking cervical position (though tbh no real idea what a good ovulating position is haha) and cm. No luck on the cm front yet.

So my question to you is:

a) bbt - any good? does it work? how often and what times? what are you looking for in terms of ovulation? (i didn't do this last time)

b) recommend any opks that actually work and don't cost an arm and a leg?

c) if anyone can shed light on the cervical position thing that would be fab.

Ttc with a toddler and a massive commute means opportune times are limited so need to make the most of the window when it arises!

Hi what cycle day are you on? I get near surges then a proper surge mid cycle as expected.
Do you mean you only had one line? or the test had zero lines on it? if theres one line the test is working as that the control line. The second line which is the test line is sometimes completely blank or sometimes light as a negative

I am on CD11. As I remember from previous pregnancy I ovulate around 14/15. Test only had one line on, but the packet shows a diagram with stronger than test line = positive, fainter than test line = negative, only test line = faulty. And mine only had test line, not even a squinter! Most odd as I don't remember that from last time.

Do you temp? I am interested in maybe taking that up, certainly cheaper than all these tests haha!

What's kindara? I have been using Ovia to track my cycles so far. Is Kindara a similar app?

I use the one step ones which are pretty much the cheapest ones, maybe its just a typo on the instructions? you'd think they would all be the same.

I would like to temp but i think my sleeping too irregular to do it, i've also tried to figure out the cervical position thing, but I just wasn't sure what i was doing lol and it can be a bit variable anyway.

One issue with opks is it can sometimes already be too late when you detect your surge, and i think i read the older you are then you have a smaller time frame between surge and ovulation. Ideally you would've wanted to dtd a day or two before as well. And if you use temping to track ovulation, the temp rise happens after you ovulate so then it is probably too late. Id just presume your still ovulating mid cycle and dtd about 2-3 times between cycle days 11-15 then use temping or opks to confirm is it when you ovulated, so you know your not guessing wrong, or just dtd all the time and then you don't have to worry ;)

I bought a pack of five OPKs from wilko for £1.45. I dipped morning and night from cd10 onwards and it caught my surge on cd14 in the evening. I'd recommend them. Cheap and cheerful. I never got a second line until surge day then one faded line after that, then nothing so I think yours might still be working even if there's no second line.

Thanks rose and hopefully. perserverence maybe! And dtd obviously. Good to know my opks might not be broken though. Try to dtd this week tho annoyingly dh out late tonight. As I wake up for work at 5.30 sleep does seem preferable most days! Have to keep reminding myself if we do have another sleep will be entirely out the window 😂
