Hellooooo,

I took a test this morning because I haven't known what's going on. I was not expecting a BFP. I have been spotting on and off for a couple of weeks really. Two tests say I'm pregnant, I'm absolutely thrilled but a little concerned over the spotting.... Confused

Has anyone else had this? Going to go to GP in the morning. Grin

I had two very short periods before I realised I was pregnant and he turned out fine. You can get a private scan done the screen is a lot clearer then NHS scans.

@Willow25 congrats Hun: just take it easy how many dpo are u xx

Thissameearth · 05/03/2017 13:52

Hi willow congrats. I understand the worry with bleeding - had it myself twice. Once was pregnant and miscarrying (and didn't realise I was either pregnant or miscarrying!) but Nb I also had pain with it not just bleeding itself. Am about 8 weeks pregnant now and started bleeding around 6 weeks - seems to be bruising causing the bleed but embryo growing ok (for now). I'm not sure if this applies over the UK but there are early pregnancy units in hospitals open mon-sat that you can self refer to. Nb "Early" is up to 11 weeks plus 4 days. with bleeding AND pain, they saw me the same day and scanned me (might not see anything at this stage) and took bloods two days apart to check whether my Hcg hormone was increasing. When it wasn't they had to keep checking it until there had been a significant enough reduction that they could be certain it was all resolving itself. Second time round, they saw me same day again, did a scan and saw things were ok so no bloods taken. Spotting could just be from implantation at this stage and obviously spotting is not bleeding which is also good. Do you have pain? Pain together with bleeding is something you prob want to check out in case it's ectopic which can be dangerous. In particular I was told to go to the Hospital without delay if I got pain In my right shoulder I think.

Nb you cannot get private scans (in my area) earlier than 7 weeks and EPU are there (free!) specifically for this. Good luck

OrianaBanana · 05/03/2017 13:55

I had it twice - the first time I lost the baby, the second I didn't, in fact I'm sitting feeding her right now. Good luck xx

Willow25 · 05/03/2017 14:05

Thank everyone. No pain, thankfully. I was putting it all down to having come off the pill but wanted to test just in case. I have no idea how many days 'dpo' I am - I'm not good with all the technical stuff! I've used an app to try and track things but since it all got irregular I have no clue.

We have decided to tell our parents straight away as, either way, feel that we will benefit from their support. Just hope it's going to be all good news.

Also, I am using the term 'spotting' - hope I've got it right. There is no blood except when I wipe. Except for one day last week I thought I was having a period but it didn't turn in to anything... I am worrying but I know the odds aren't always with us so early on so trying to keep realistic.

Spotting is quite normal. I had spotting at 13 weeks and all was fine. Could be sensitive cervix

Willow25 · 05/03/2017 15:22

That is good to hear, thank you!

I had spotting at 5 weeks and 8 weeks. Now 16 weeks and have had nothing since and a healthy 12 weeks scan. Good luck x

Willow25 · 06/03/2017 12:25

Congratulations MissT!

I went to the doctors today. She examined me and asked lots of questions and said she doesn't know what is going on. Got to go for an early scan on Thursday. Doctor said whilst it doesn't sound textbook like a miscarriage, she fears that it may not be great news. I'm so scared!!

Try and take it easy Willow I've had bright red bleeding twice and been scanned each time and seems ok so you never know. You don't want to get your hopes up but equally you're not out the game yet 😊

Also even if it worst comes to the worst it has no impact on your prospects of successful pregnancy second time round (and some evidence that you'll have increased fertility).

Not a nice wait for you now I know, fingers crossed for you.

countingdown2gin · 06/03/2017 15:04

Congratulations! I spotted all the way through my first trimester in this pregnancy but didn't with my DS.

Alibaba2 · 06/03/2017 15:04

I think your GP could have worded that better. Unless she has a reason for thinking the worst - anecdotally spotting doesn't mean MC. Good luck!

Willow25 · 07/03/2017 09:07

Thank you for the comments everyone. Not enjoying this waiting game but hoping it's all still to play for. Scan is Thursday morning x

Willow25 · 09/03/2017 10:34

Thank you everyone. Had the scan this morning and I'm so pleased to share that all is well at this (very early) stage!! We're only about 6weeks along but baby had a heartbeat and all looked normal. Got to go back for another scan in two weeks to check in and make sure all is progressing as it should be. The doctor reminded us that it's still only about 50/50 at this point but we are so pleased.

Can't thank everyone on here enough for the support, it really does help xxx
