Cerelle has ruined my body! 😔

Stopped taking my pill on the 28th December and had no period or withdrawal bleed till the 2nd of February. I now feel sick everyday and dizzy but no af at all to speak of. Done a couple of cheap tests but negative I'm so confused. We dtd quite often every other day if not every day just wish it would happen now. I'm 34 so nor getting any younger my partner is 27 so he's very much of the it will happen eventually attitude!!

In the kindest way you came off the pill not even 3 months ago. Your body may be adjusting to the hormone level changes.

When I came off the pill initially I remember the nausea dizziness and it lasted a good 6 months! Same after I gave birth I experienced it for 8 or so months! I was advised it's hormones resettling.

If still no AF in a week test again and good luck

I know I'm being impatient but with my first 2 children it was almost like I didn't have to try. I have read so many threads on here where the pill has caused havoc with ladies bodies I'm just terrified I've ruined my chance of having a baby again .

Hi Lolly, your bleeding pattern after stopping Cerelle sounds very normal. Some women get a withdrawal bleed a few days after stopping this sort of pill, and others don't.

After stopping, research evidence says that ovulation occurs on average between 17 and 20 days later. Then menstruation about 14 days later. So for you, the maths seems to work out perfectly: stopped pill 28th December, ovulation between 14th to 17th Feb, then menstruation starting between 28th Feb and 3rd March. Bang on time!

Some women's periods take a while to settle down into a regular pattern (sometimes up to 6 months) but they are usually ovulating and can still conceive even if bleeds aren't coming regularly. Most women however do settle back into a regular pattern within the first couple of cycles.

Hope this helps put your mind at rest....you haven't messed up your chances at all! I speak as a doctor, and also as someone who has also just come off Cerelle myself! Have been obsessively trawling the research literature to find out specifics. I haven't had any nausea or dizziness post-Cerelle but I wonder if this is your body getting used to its normal hormones kicking back in.

Oops, sorry got my months mixed up!

Ovulation between 14th and 17th Jan (not Feb), then approx menstruation start sometime between 28th and 31st Jan. So your bleed starting on 2nd Feb still sounds totally normal!

If CD1 was 2nd Feb, I think you will be CD33 now.....it's common to get long cycles initially after coming off the pill, so AF may be on her way. However, there obviously is also the chance you could be pregnant esp as you say you guys DTD quite a bit during Feb and now you are feeling nauseated and dizzy. Exciting! Maybe wait a few days and re-test if AF hasn't appeared?

Hi Lolly I'm in the same situation came off Cerelle 26 Dec got my period 31 January, DTD lots in Feb, and for the last week been dizzy and sick so thought I could be pregnant - however all tests BFN and been spotting this morning so I think AF is on the way. Maybe the dizziness is our bodies getting used to natural progesterone again. Hugs

I've tested 3 times in the last week but maybe it's too early. Before taking cerelle my cycles were 28 days so I'm just frustrated I guess. I only used £shop tests though

It's too early. With my DD I didn't get a positive till AF was over a week late. Try to think of something else for a few days (I know it's so hard!!)

I'm going to lose myself in a pile of washing and ironing today that's in between cleaning the house and cooking Sunday lunch. I just feel like I need af or a bfp. It's gotta be better than this no man's land of waiting I'm in. We haven't told anyone we are trying either. We haven't been together long just over 7 months so we feel like our families would have issues with it. Although in my humble opinion it's no one else's business when we start trying. We are engaged so it's not like we are not planning the rest of our lives together

Cerelle has worked fine for me both times ttc. But they do say it takes up to 6 months.
Get a first response early test. They seem to be best. I had 2 negs with an asda cheapy but a strong positive with frer

I'm trying to remain positive I know it's very early days I'm just frustrated. We have 5 children between us already but to complete our blended family we want one together

I "clicked" with my first two instantly, but the third took a bit longer - I was quite worried as I had got used to the idea that I would conceive straight away and thought something was amiss - it wasn't! So, do not panic!

It seemed to take me a lot longer to regulate coming off the pill to get pregnant second time round. 6 months with my first 15 with my second. You would think our bodies would remember what they should do after they've done it once.

I completely understand your frustrating with it. If it carries on go see your GP to see if there is anything underlying (there was with me pcos which wasn't picked up first time round)

I was on a different brand, took 3m for dc1 and 4m dc2. It's a bit soon to worry, good luck

He has 3 children I have 2. So I think we both have enough between us to know we are fertile I think I'm just over thinking and getting too into the idea of having a baby. Maybe just stop trying and take the what will be will be approach from now on.
