Hi ladies,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet recently... Purely down to having nothing much to contribute! AF has finished now and according to ovia and clue I'm coming up to my FW in the next few days.

Got myself a box of OPKs and tried my first one today at work (fyi I didn't think through the whole peeing into a pot at work thing through... Lots of hassle 🙈)! It was a total squinter today so I'll keep testing over the next week or so!

How are you all doing? Fx march is our month!! X

tessapop · 14/03/2017 17:18

Hi guys how are you all doing? @Pibbee sorry to hear about af but at least you can have a drink without worry :) I have had absolutely no symptoms since 7dpo and I'm 9dpo now so starting to think it's a no for the first months attempt!

This thread is quite interesting! Especially the stuff about ovulation days..

Flatwhite31 · 14/03/2017 17:48

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well. TMI alert - just to forewarn you! I was in class today (primary teacher) and all of a sudden I felt like I was bleeding! I had no sanitary protection on, so I left my teaching assistant with the class to see what was going on. I had no sanitary protector with me, but luckily it was just lots of brown discharge! I took my last pill 11 days ago, and finished my withdrawal bleed last Thursday. In that 11 days, we have only DTD once, mainly due to me having a virus which I'm now feeling better from. Is brown discharge common when coming off the pill? I have googled but you just get so many different sources of information. I honestly thought my period had arrived ridiculously early as it felt like I was bleeding. Strange!

tessapop · 14/03/2017 18:13

Interesting thread @Pibbee, I wonder if some people are just more sensitive to changes in their body?

@Flatwhite31 when I first came off the pill years ago I had random AF timings and spotting for about 4 months! Lots of people seem to think you're more fertile when you first come off though so fingers crossed for you

Flatwhite31 · 14/03/2017 18:24

Thanks @tessapop! I'm 99.9% sure it's just random spotting, as it would be SO unlikely to conceive straight away! I've been tired, but no more than normal as an overworked teacher. It really did feel like blood. My worry was having a visible leak in front of the kids! Am going to have to get used to not knowing the exact day AF will arrive for the first time in nearly 12 years!

tessapop · 14/03/2017 21:31

Haha @Flatwhite31 isn't it awful when you're in the middle of a lesson to have such an emergency! I teach secondary so feel your pain!

JellyBean89 · 14/03/2017 21:47

Hahaha @Marie90 I feel your pin about peeing in a cup at work, i tipped the cup once and got wee all over the floor Blush
Good luck this month x

@Flatwhite31 that sounds awful, good thing you didn't bleed in front of the kids, it would have been a hard one to explain.

As for me, I am still having strange cramps on my right side and had a tiny bit of spotting earlier in the day. Like literally one spot when I wiped (TMI again, sorry) and that's it. My boobs are going crazy, I took my bra off when I got home and my areolas are so puffy I could see them through the vest I was wearing. Trying not to get my hopes up. If AF doesn't come by the end of the month then I'll test.

JellyBean89 · 14/03/2017 21:50

Also I'm a hardcore coffee lover, i cut back to half a cup a day in the past few weeks but today I the smell made me gag, so I had to throw it out. My colleague was having coffee next to me at work and I felt queasy. This is the main thing that is making me thing maybe it's not just my body going crazy Post-iud.

tessapop · 14/03/2017 22:17

Ooh @JellyBean89 your symptoms sound good, I LOVE coffee and can't imagine not enjoying the aroma!! I've cut back to 2 a day, I don't know how you managed half a cup?????

Composteleana · 14/03/2017 23:12

Hello, can I join?

DP and I have been not actively trying but playing a bit fast and loose with the contraception for a while now. Since the start of the year we've been talking about how we need to start trying properly this year. Then this month I've had a bit of a funny one - last Tuesday my period was due, cycle day 31 which is not unusual for me. I only bled lightly for one day then it stopped. I've had a week of feeling generally awful, shattered, cramps, nauseous now and then. But two negative tests. Then today I'm getting brown discharge (eww sorry) which I usually get before a period, and have that heavy, crampy about to come on feeling, coupled with lots of lovely period spots on my face Sad.

So we had the conversation about how we were both really hoping this was it, and both gutted that it's not, so it's time to start taking trying more seriously.

I'm 37.
Cycles usually between 30 and 34 days.

I'm not sure when to start tracking this month and when to work out my fertile days from. Do I count the bleed last Tuesday as day 1? Or if I start bleeding properly tomorrow as I suspect do I count from then?

I'm using an app called fertility friend - only noting period days not anything else and have used it for ages just to keep an eye on my periods as they can be odd. What do you guys use to track/work out fertile days?

I do have the clear blue opk - bought it last year on a whim but put it aside as we weren't seriously trying enough. Might start using it this month if I can figure out the right days!

Pibbee · 15/03/2017 17:18

Hello all!

Compo - I sort of use FF too but only for period days etc too. Otherwise, my doctor said the best thing to do is to DTD every 2 or 3 days. She didn't rate those OPK sticks. I have some clearblue ones but have only ever peed on one! Ha. Might try them again this cycle.

I think day 1 is the first day of actual proper bleeding. I always get the brown spotting crap before AF. Have had it for a couple of days now but it has yet to turn into proper AF. This is normal for me though...

JellyBean89 · 15/03/2017 18:31

@tessapop I love coffee! It was so hard to cut back to half a cup but I forced myself to, mainly because I want to cut back everything that makes me bloated so I can look good Grin I did manage to a piccino from Starbucks today but I didn't enjoy it, and it's usually my favourite drink Angry

Welcome @Composteleana! I usually count day 1 as the day when the bleeding starts. I get the brown spotting before AF too but don't count it as bleeding.

@Pibbee how do you resist?! lol I love a good weeing on a stick 😂

I still have weird cramps today, and I feel wet like AF wet but nothing is there.

Composteleana · 15/03/2017 19:05

Hello! Thanks for the welcome! AF started properly this morning, so I'll count this as day 1 and ignore the bleed last Tuesday - goodness knows what that was, even though that was when my period should have started.

jelly when is AF due?

Composteleana · 15/03/2017 19:06

Oops just read back! Your symptoms sound positive.

tessapop · 15/03/2017 19:11

Welcome @Composteleana I'm the same as @JellyBean89 with the spotting the day before, it's always a good reminder to check I have some pads ready! Do you guys all enjoy booze and coffee after AF arrives for a bit?

Pibbee · 15/03/2017 19:21

Coffee/caffeine in moderation is meant to be fine at any point. That said, I have cut down drastically - used to cane diet coke and coffee all day and now have just a couple of each per week I reckon!

Booze from time to time too. I last had a few drinks a couple of weeks ago (was in 2ww but figured it was too soon for anything to have implanted anyway not that there was anything...). Have cut down on booze a LOT. I used to be always out for drinks!! But now I can't really be arsed. Am pretty much a non drinker apart from the odd occasion!

Pibbee · 15/03/2017 19:23

@jelly I dunno but so far I can resist the sticks! I just don't want to get to the stage where I am obsessing about them. I also read somewhere that ovulation can happen up to a week after the surge in any case, so not sure how helpful they even are tbh. But will use the ones I have got, defo!

mrsjkerry · 15/03/2017 21:28

Jelly when are you due to test ?

OP posts:
Pibbee · 15/03/2017 22:43

Yes @Compos you should count today as day 1. My AF hasn't put in an appearance which means I am on cd29. I don't think that's unusual for me although pre-Pill I'm sure it used to be bang on 28. I feel a bit AF-y so not getting excited....

tessapop · 16/03/2017 07:20

Ok so that was weird, I was just brushing my teeth and giving my tongue a quick brush at the end, when I spontaneously threw up a bit over my hand! What's going on??!

JellyBean89 · 16/03/2017 11:16

@Composteleana and @mrsjkerry I have no idea when AF is due. Could be next week if my cycle stays like it was while on bc or could be in April if it goes back to how it was before Bc. My gp wants me to test in 2 weeks time and I have to go in next week if I still feel unwell. TBH I don't think I'm going to test until April, I don't trust my body right now.

@Tessapop I don't drink but always enjoy a nice BIG cup of coffee in the morning and some sushi for lunch when AF arrives lol. That nausea sounds horrible, how many dpo are you?

Pibbee · 16/03/2017 11:34

Tessa that sick thing sounds like a reflex action to me...
