The coil is out!

We have decided that we are going to try for number 3. I went to the doctor today to discuss taking out my copper coil, I started my period this morning but I found out this is the best time to have it removed. Doctor was great, she removed the coil there and then as she had no appointment after mine and sent me in my way with some folic acid. Argh!!!!
So excited to start trying, last wine this week then I'm being a good girl. Confused

Speak - sounds like your visit to the doctor was well timed. Good luck this month. I am also trying for number 3 and had the mirena coil removed at the end of November. I didn't have periods whilst the coil was in so it's taken a couple of months for my cycle to return to normal. I am hoping we'll be able to start trying properly now.

I'be not given up wine yet - not sure a glass will hurt!

speakfriendandenter · 21/02/2017 22:18

I'm drinking the wine for the rest of this period, in going to miss it. 😂
Doctor said as I had the copper coil we can start trying straight away.
DD1 was conceived in first month, DD2 was a surprise after trying for over a year. We stopped actively trying and a few months later, BFP.
I'm going to try tracking ovulation this time but try to stay calm, I have a tendency to get too emotionally invested.
Hope your TTC goes well. What ages are your children? I have a 6yr old and a 2yr old.

SpeckyB · 22/02/2017 13:48

My children are 4 and 2. First time it took a year and second time was a happy accident (so other way around to you).

I was told we could start ttc straight after coil removal too, but my first cycle was short and second one long (24 days and 38 days). Now on cycle day 28 so will find out soon if I'm back to normal soon (31day cycle before the coil).

I think I could obsess a little too - I've got the Ovia app and have used opks. Think I got a high CD19 this month but nothing the 2 months before.

How old are you? I'm 38 and wondering if that will make a difference this time...

speakfriendandenter · 22/02/2017 23:27

I'm 32.
My cycles have never been regular, with my coil I started monitoring my cycles. They vary from 26 days to 32 days, so I'm definitely using OPKs to help.
The hunt for a car to fit three kids is on now. Argh!
How are you feeling this month?

OP posts:
SpeckyB · 23/02/2017 10:30

Come to think of it, I don't think my cycle was that regular before 2 kids, but always 30 days or over.

I'm feeling normal, but then I had no symptoms in early pregnancy the other times. Both times I had v light bleeding on the day my period was due, which stopped. First time I got drunk (opps), second time I thought I should test! Did you have any symptoms/ sickness with yours?

I think lots of cars actually fit 3 seats across, if you have the right seats. We'll probably go to one of specialist car seat retailers (if I fall pregnant, fingers crossed) and find out what fits, as it would be good to keep the car.

foodiefil · 23/02/2017 10:35

Had the copper coil removed and will ttc very soon but my periods are really short - 2 days - and I'm worried this isn't normal and it will make conceiving harder - first time for me - do either of you know if it will impact things? Regular but short!

speakfriendandenter · 23/02/2017 14:12

foodie - I think it's more to do with regularity than length of period. Maybe try tracking ovulation with OPKs so you can find out more. I never had any clue when I was ovulating. Grin
Specky - I had tiredness and nausea with both, which only got worse once I found out I was pregnant. I found out at about 5weeks with both. Nausea continued throughout pregnancies, along with lots of acid reflux Confused
Funnily enough, my husband knew i was pregnant before I did. I had been out to a Mexican party (lots of tequila) on the Saturday night, DH made me test on Sunday evening. When I got BFP I didn't come downstairs for ages as I was in total shock.

foodie - my periods are definitely lighter & shorter than before the coil (mirena) but only had 3 & so that may change. I agree that you should track ovulation (opks and temping would give you the best idea) & go to the doctors if you don't think you're ovulating.

Speak - Nausea and acid reflux doesn't sound much fun. I'm always amazed at home many other things women have to cope with along with carrying a baby!

Do you have boys or girls? I have 2 girls so I know people will think we're trying for a boy. We're not though, I just like the idea of a little gang of 3...

speakfriendandenter · 24/02/2017 08:22

I've got two girls too. In honesty I'd love a boy this time, but I know if we have a girl we will be just as happy!

My SIL was really sick with both pregnancies, she was on medication and in hospital on drops and all sorts. So I just counted my blessing that my sickness wasn't that bad.

I'm already feeling really impatient waiting for AF to finish so we can get trying.

OP posts:
SpeckyB · 24/02/2017 13:16

I would like a boy too (mostly so my husband isn't outnumbered)! But a healthy baby is the main thing. Anything else is a bonus.

That sounds awful for your SIL. That would really put me off trying again!

CD1 for me, so last cycle was 29 days. It's a shock to have periods again, I can't say I missed period pains! I feel more impatient at the end of the month. The last week really drags!

Won't be long until we can start trying...

speakfriendandenter · 28/02/2017 00:16

It's CD8 for me now (just Tuesday lol)
The OPKs I bought say to test from day 8, and from things I've read it's best not to use FMU so I'll test in the evening when I get home from work. The butterflies in my tummy are already terrible, goodness know how jittery I'll feel leading up to AF due date.

Just had my marena coil taken out yesterday to start ttc for baby number 2. Im so excited!! Good luck to all you other ladies too!

SpeckyB · 04/03/2017 19:39

Speak - how are you going with the opks? Sorry for the delayed response, we'be all been ill, work has been busy and there haven't been enough hours in the day! You must be in your fertile week - good luck.

Little Miss - good luck to you too. Did you have regular periods whilst on the Mirena?

Cycle day 9 for me and I don't think I'm going to do opks this month. Just try yo dtd every other day. Husband will be pleased! I am going to start using Conceive Plus though. I used to get lots of EWCM (even when Mirena in) but I'be had none since I had it taken out in November. Hoping the CP should help.

Popskipiekin · 04/03/2017 19:49

Good luck to all of you! Could I try a very mini thread hijack and ask how you found having the copper coil OP - would you have kept it if you hadn't wanted to TTC? We have DS1&2 (2 is not yet 3 months) and unsure about #3 but don't want to risk it without meaning to! I like the idea of something hormone free - did it work for you?
We might though do what we did between 1&2 and go for a mixture of abstinence and condoms until we're sure Grin

Littlemisspiggie91 · 05/03/2017 09:32

specky I didnt have any periods at all when I had it in thank god. Not looking forward to the first one! I've had a bit of spotting the past few days and woken up with horrible cramps this morning so maybe AF is visiting already

speakfriendandenter · 05/03/2017 16:19

Specky - hope everyone is feeling better now. No ovulation yet. We are planning to dtd everyday, had a very long and heavy 10day period so just getting back into the swing of things. What s conceive plus?

Pop - I probably would have kept it in yeah. Had it for about 18months. I still had periods and tbh they were heavier than before but I've never had a great time of it anyway.

Hope you all have a good week, I'm Hoping for ovulation this week. Fingers crossed

OP posts:
SpeckyB · 05/03/2017 22:27

Littlemiss - I had a withdrawal bleed about 3 days after the coil was removed and then a proper period 25 days after that. None have been as painful as before the coil. Fingers crossed it's not too bad for you.

Speak - all better now, thanks. We're starting every other day from now cd10). Not sure I could manage every day! Conceive Plus is a fertility lubricant. It's supposed to help if you don't have enough EWCM. Thought we should give it a try...

SpeckyB · 05/03/2017 22:28

Ps - a ten day period - poor you! I bet you're glad that's over!

Popskipiekin · 05/03/2017 22:45

@speakfriendandenter thank you, good to know. Sorry for the derail Blush

speakfriendandenter · 08/03/2017 17:53

Day 16 in my cycle today, I've been using OPKs since day 10 as recommended on clear blue site. No ovulation :(. We've dtd anyway and I'll test the day after AF is due if it doesn't arrive. I just feel really frustrated. I'm definitely buying the digital tests for next month

OP posts:
SpeckyB · 09/03/2017 14:51

Speak - CD16 is not that late, I would keep testing until CD20 to be sure. I got a peak on CD19 last month and my cycle was 29 days. It's the first peak I have had in 3 months if doibg opks. I don't think my body is properly back to normal yet. However it will take longer for me as Mirena stopped my periods.

CD14 here. Been DTD every other day since CD8. I've got 5 internet cheapie opks to use this month so going to start today and see what they say. I might try the digital tests next month too.

I was hoping to be pregnant by now so I could be on maternity leave when my eldest goes to school in September. Oh well, maybe a December or January or February baby would be better?!
