BBT Chart experts- please help! First cycle charting!

Hoping that someone with some more BBT knowledge can enlighten me with any observations about my cycle so far- I have been ttc for a year now so am trying charting my temps to see if everything's working normally this is my first cycle temping. I believe I O'd on cd 15 as I had a dip and also a pos opk on cd 14

Just wondering if the temp jumping up and down so much perhaps indicates a problem? Also does that dip/ rise around cd 15 look normal/ look like it indicated ovulation? Really hoping we BD enough!! we couldn't manage cd15 as my man had work :( any help appreciated! Best wishes and baby dust to all!! Xx

If you ovulated on CD15 then your best chances at conception are by having sex in the 3 days before as it gives the swimmers chance to get close to where the egg will be released.

Usually a temp increase of 0.2 degrees or more indicates ovulation has happened, but it has to be sustained above that level for 3 days to confirm. I used an app called Fertility Friend and it gives you a proper graph with a cover line and cross hairs when it confirms ovulation so its easier to interpret the data.

Are you using a BBT thermometer that has two decimal places? Also are you taking your temperature at the same time every morning? It's really important that you do that or at least temp after 2-3 hours of restful sleep so that you get an accurate basal body temperature. I used to set an alarm for 5.30 every morning as I was guaranteed to be still asleep at that point, take my temp and then go back to sleep.

If you're doing all the right things and your temps are still fluctuating then it could be for a number of reasons, restless sleeping is the main one but they're not usually related to fertility or lack of. Temping is only an indicator of ovulation after if happens, it won't tell you anything else.

It'll take a few cycles for the algorithm to work out what your cycle does so don't worry about it too much. Mine sometimes takes a few days to get clear of the coverline before it confirms that ovulation occurred - has it done that yet? I also find it varies a bit from cycle to cycle.

MrsG is right about the temperature taking though, restless sleep can affect it. I'm assuming you're using an NC thermometer so you've got the right level of accuracy.
