So we've maxed out our first thread, the positivity is building up nicely and we're joyfully moving on to a brand new thread...

This thread is for anyone TTC and is bursting with positivity, love and support as we cruise towards our BFP's.

New rules instead of saying AF due we say BFP due ...
Also you do not have to add your age or what cycle number you're on if you don't want to ...

The ultimate aim is to get everyone to destination BFP ASAP...
however the bus ride may take a little longer for some of us ...
it doesn't matter if you take the scenic route ...
as long you get there.

So plug in your stats and off we go xxx

Ladies, my spirit is temporarily broken. AF arrived promptly as expected. I thought at first it could be a bit of implantation bleeding but then the proper blood came. FFS.

I was really hoping this was my month, I had a weird thought in the back of my mind that because my Grandma died during this cycle, I would get pregnant and she would kind of live on through the new baby. Total bollocks of course and I have no idea why I even thought this. I think it's called clutching at straws. But it no means I'm doubly disappointed.

Really trying to search for positives and these are that - I am having regular periods and regularly ovulating according to CB opks. I am 34 but have no major health issues, not overweight, have got pregnant before and DH has had his sperm tested recently and it was good - in fact better than when we conceived DS. Also I am going to a wedding this weekend so at least I can have a glass of fizz (and avoiding a family do with my pregnant SIL).

So surely it's a matter of time and being patient. Which I don't feel I have, and I know I am not!

As we dtd in five out of six days in my fertile window, I'm not sure we could have done anything else. Just need to up the PMA and maybe improve my diet a little bit, though I really don't eat unhealthily and need some treats to relax myself.

That's my 3rd month of opk-ing now (out of 8 cycles trying) - if you have a roughly 25% chance each month, maybe next month is my time.

Over to the rest of you for the first BFP....I'm rooting for you!!

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 22/02/2017 10:19

Magpie Flowers and Cake and Wine for you. Sorry to hear about AF. I love your positivity, you are right it is surely a matter of time. If your DH has had his sperm tested and you are healthy, having conceived before, all you need to do is keep trying.

I think the odds are stacked against us when TTC. Like you said, only 25% chance of conceiving each cycle.

Enjoy your fizz at the weekend, you deserve it!!

Btw, I hope you don't mind me asking but did your DH get his sperm tested as the doctors?

CakesALot · 22/02/2017 10:19

magpie it's so easy to convince yourself there are other forces at work that'll mean this month is the one. So sorry to hear about your grandma. Patience is hard to find when you're living your life counting the days! Looks like this is a great place for support though

Me, DH and DD all have November birthdays. Conception this month will be a November birthday...so it's bound to happen right?! Wink

MissMagpie · 22/02/2017 10:23

Thanks guys.

Salem he got it done at the local hospital but we paid the private costs as he didn't wait to be referred from a GP (don't think we would qualify yet as not been ttc long enough, as we did before). It was about £70 and put his mind at rest.

Cakes - that's as good a reason as any! Good luck!

Right, going out to buy flowers to cheer myself up, have a coffee and buy some make up. I need some tlc today not ttc!

MrsT1234 · 22/02/2017 10:44

Salem - I vaguely remember seeing a reference to burping being a sign, but to be honest if I stubbed my toe I'd be like "oh my god it's a SYMPTOM" Grin so it could well be nonsense. Remind me when your BFP is due again? I'm still trying to keep track of everything and get used to all the acronyms so I'm getting a bit muddled and I want to keep my FX for everyone at the right time!
Welcome Cakes - I'm also TTC #2 and new to this forum/ thread. But a day in and these lovely ladies have already made me relax and smile!

FX for everyone who is due their BFP soon!! x

LeannieRVN · 22/02/2017 10:53

Hi everyone! I'm new to MN too, and very scared my afe will mean infertilty. Ive just used my new bbt thermometer for the first time this morning, orally ( pink one from babymad on amazon), and it's giving wildly differing readings- between 36.49 and 36.66. BFP due today, age 40

Hippychic79 · 22/02/2017 11:06

Ladies ladies ladies ... it's a 30% chance each cycle according to my text books not 25% .... and with PMA it's a 50% chance ... ok I made the 50% up but fuck it 😂
Welcome to thread PMA lean.... fx for your bfp today .... will you be testing ?

Oh Magpie sorry to hear about AF and also your Grandma. My DF passed away 8 years ago, and it was the anniversary of his death in Nov and I happened to be OV on that date. So I was CONVINCED that we would get upduffed that month and I could tell everybody a lovely story about how the baby was a gift from my Dad Grin I was definitely clutching at straws!
And I always find CD1 the worst for feeling down and negative. Take today to have a good cry, and then pick yourself back up tomorrow ready for your BFP next month.
Also, according to my doctor, DTD every day can hamper your chances because it doesn't give the sperm enough time to regenerate. So it could be worth trying every other day during your next FW (although if your DH's sperm is good then maybe it doesn't matter?)

Hippychic79 · 22/02/2017 11:14

Thank you for the info on sperm analysis magpie - this is good to know although I mentioned this to my dp the other night and it went down like a sack of shite so fx I get my bfp and not have to go down that route!

Sorry to hear that you df passed too Archies Flowers I know you said it was 8 years ago but I bet that doesn't make it any easier xxx

Magpie i'm so sorry you are doubly disappointed, but your mind works just like mine. My Grannie was diagnosed with end stage bowel cancer last week, and between the tears I decided that I'll be for sure getting my BFP and I'll be able to tell her soon. I think it's called hope and it is something you should hold on to because as far as I'm concerned it's a bloody powerful thing and it will help you get the BFP!

Leannie FX for your BFP!

Hippy I love your PMA stats - they sound good to me!

LeannieRVN · 22/02/2017 11:47

Mrs T - what's FX? I'm still trying to get used to all the acronyms!

Hippychic79 · 22/02/2017 11:54

Well said MrsT xxx

Lean - fx is fingers crossed, I think there's a list of mn acronyms on here somewhere sorry I can't link from my phone xxx

OP posts:
MrsT1234 · 22/02/2017 11:59

Lean - I'm the same! I only found out yesterday what FX means - it's a whole other language in the world of TTC!

BellaMoon · 22/02/2017 12:32

@magpie so sorry about AF 🍷🛀🏼💕

(think i'm gonna call AF this from now on... WTAF... as in What The Actual Fuck!!!)) Angry

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 22/02/2017 12:47

Finally (!!!) although it went negative to peak - no flashing smiley. I had best go and break the news to poor DH 😂!

#2 PMA all the way to BFP xxx
LeannieRVN · 22/02/2017 12:56

Congratulations Salem! 😃 Haha MrsT, nice to meet someone 8n the same boat as me. I haven't a clue what I'm doing!

Yaaayyyyy Salem!

Thanks hippy - I'm away to start studying!

Hippychic79 · 22/02/2017 13:19

Bless you MrsT - in all fairness we don't use that many on here ... this thread is mainly opk (ovulation predictor kit), dtd (doing the deed), fw (fertile week) and fx (fingers crossed) xxx

MrsT1234 · 22/02/2017 13:25

And BFP Hippy,.... don't forget BFP! x

Moo31 · 22/02/2017 13:40

Just dropping by on my lunchbreak to catch up! This thread is so busy! Everyone is on board for the PMA - love it!!

Hi to all the newbies Smile

Fx to everyone who is due their bfp in the next few days and fx for everyone in the 2ww - fxls!!

I like this acronym from the list - SWI - shagging with intent (trying to conceive). We are all guilty as charged!! Grin

I'm having some opk confusion as well (I think you are too Charley) - I didn't manage to do any on Thurs or Fri (I didn't think this mattered as I was expecting to ov on Sun or Mon anyway), Sat I had a faint line, Sun night was blank then 2 I did on Monday had faint lines, yesterday morning was a faint line and yesterday evening was blank. We dtd last night anyway (even though I am convinced I missed ov this month with being away over the weekend) but I did read somewhere that RLT can delay ov so I am crossing everything that this might be the case ... I think we are going to stick with the dtd every 2 or 3 days and hope it works for our next cycle!
