So we've maxed out our first thread, the positivity is building up nicely and we're joyfully moving on to a brand new thread...

This thread is for anyone TTC and is bursting with positivity, love and support as we cruise towards our BFP's.

New rules instead of saying AF due we say BFP due ...
Also you do not have to add your age or what cycle number you're on if you don't want to ...

The ultimate aim is to get everyone to destination BFP ASAP...
however the bus ride may take a little longer for some of us ...
it doesn't matter if you take the scenic route ...
as long you get there.

So plug in your stats and off we go xxx

Well you've already got one DC MrsT - so you must be doing something right.

I think we're all going about it in our own unique little way ... my story quickly (sorry to bore everyone else who already knows) -
TTC#1, only been with DP a year, he's 42, I'm 38. He thinks he's Peter Pan so not quite ready to conceive yet although he does want kids so I'm going for it behind his back (I know he'll be made up when we get a BFP and I also know he wouldn't be able to cope with stress of TTC).

So I've been tracking my cycles on a spreadsheet since September, I initially used cheap OPK's but I didn't get on with them (never got a positive), so i abandoned the OPK's altogether, read up loads on TTC, saw a naturopath who recommended which supplements to take, started weekly acupuncture from October and then started using the digital opks from December.
I don't count all my cycles as actively TTC cycles because I haven't always ovulated and sometimes I don't manage to dtd in fw as dp works shit loads....
I eat as healthily as i can, i go to the gym 4-5 times a week, I don't drink and I quit smoking 4 weeks ago, now vaping :)

@mrsT i'm a newbie too - this thread sure does help with info, tips, dos and donts!

my reason for being here is that DH (sometimes that's dear husband other times it's dick head) and i decided to TTC so i stopped the pill mid Jan. had a very light AF 28/01. at that point i wasn't sure if it was a withdrawal bleed from the pill or indeed AF. as if been on some form of BC for over 20yrs i was not expecting to ovulate for months.

based on the fact that when i had regular AF many years ago i was 28 day cycle girl, i started to get some ovulation symptoms (very VERY tender bazongas, abdominal cramps, egg white type vaginal mucus) i thought i'd go buy a clear blue digital ovulation kit. this was tuesday 07/02 and i got the static circle which indicates low fertility quickly followed that evening with a flashing smiley face which indicates high fertility. on thursday 09/02 evening i got peak fertility which is a static smiley face. this stays on the test strip for 48 hours so you can't use this test to pee on again hehe. as you can ovulate 24/36 hours after peak fertility we continued to do the old rumpy pumpy til sunday 12/02.

this does indicate to me that i'm on my usual 28day cycle so my AF (or with PMA in mind, my BFP) this saturday 🙈

i have POAS pretty much every day since monday 13/02 because... well because i'm new to this, it's exciting, my DH is convinced "it worked", because my cat keeps sitting on my belly but she didn't pre ovulation, because the sky is blue, because why not? i know it's been pointless up til now but it hasn't negatively affected my mood so feck it.

don't know if i'm waffling now or if iv even answered your question - soz typing at work and keep getting interrupted. how very dare these people expect me to work! haha. x

MrsT1234 · 21/02/2017 13:37

Hippy - you sound like you are ON IT! I love a go gettem attitude - I'm rooting for your BFP!

My circumstances have changed a little since DS was conceived and now, which is why I think I could benefit from being a bit more proactive.

My DH and I were both 4 years younger - we lived abroad in a very hot country which made it impossible to get stressed about anything! I had a very regular cycle which made the maths easy - but now I'm all over the shop and just feel very much like my fertility is not the same as before.

And then there is the difference between us being passionate newlyweds without a toddler and loads of energy - to being knackered and a bit less enthusiastic in participating in bedroom olympics!

Hippy you'll just had to walk around in your undies and hope for the best haha! Hopefully there will be no work or distractions to stop you from your baby dancing!

Salem i'll be hiding at home and trying to work through my uni thesis which I really need to get a move on with! i'm starting some volunteering for an ASN charity this weekend too so looking forward to that. Then I have a family party next weekend so at least a few things to try and take my mind off things.

Mrs i've been trying since my wedding at the start of October. Been tracking periods since the start of last year and came off the pill at the start of June. I started on the OPK straight away, but just the cheap internet ones as they seem to work fine for me. I have a pretty standard cycle give or take a day or two. I haven't tried temping etc as I feel there's not really pint given that I seem to know when I ovulate. I normally pick something new to try each month but i'm not very good at sticking to things. This cycle i'm trying to not stress about things, keep up the PMA and just go with it. Although I have yet to enter the TWW so not sure how long that will keep up haha!

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 21/02/2017 13:54

Hippy this is the one I have used nearly took out a loan to pay for it... and negative at 11.30am. Will try again tonight about 5/6pm.

I do think the lines are strong-ish. Tonight is DTD night as part of SMEP anyway. I'll be annoyed if I have missed ovulation but the OPKs would have picked that up right???

Lol bella DH aka Dick Head Wink.

MrsT I came off the pill in October. DH is 39 and I am 27 so we have decided it's now or never. We have been married for 15 months now. Nothing has happened despite AF going back to around 28day cycles. That was when I put my obsessive hat on and began temping which was crap and doing OPKs. I would recommend buying cheap ones off t'internet. Be warned... POAOPK (peeing on an ovulation predictor kit) is addictive

MrsT1234 · 21/02/2017 13:54

Ha ha Bella!

It's the same in my office - please could you not interrupt me with questions about project evaluation when I'm trying to type about cervical mucus!

It's good that you are excited! This is an exciting experience - I've lost that a tiny bit along the way but chatting to you is reminding me of that feeling!

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 13:57

@hippy i totally know what you mean about the stress of TTC on your OH part. my DH spoke to me about feeling pressure during FW and the DTD didn't feel very passionate at all. that was our first FW as well so next time, i'll definitely not tell him when we get peak fertility xx

Charley2016 · 21/02/2017 14:08

It seems my DH is unusual..... He keeps trying to get me to DTD more in FW! He spent yesterday telling me how he was going to start eating more sperm boosting veg. Also how he was going to stop keeping his phone in his pocket because of radiation, oh and he also wanted me to stop putting on the heating because he thinks he's too hot which could be killing he sperm! And then tells me not to overthink things as it makes him sad when i crash at AFs arrival haha!

Can someone remind me what the pineapple thing is about? Is it some everyday for 5 days? Trying to eat healthy and i love pineapple anyway so thought i might give it a bash.

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 14:30

@charley how weird, my DH said all those same things to me just at lunch! they must have read the same article! lol

xx

Charley2016 · 21/02/2017 14:34

Haha there must of been something in the paper or something! That makes me feel a bit better than thinking of him stressing out and going googling haha!

Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:14

charley pineapple helps with implantation so eat between ovulation and bfp ... only eat one a maximum of one a day including the core ... this can be juiced ... I'll post the science bit later xxx

OP posts:
Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:15

That meant to say - only eat 1 pineapple a day max ... and I would shoot for every 2-3 days as I'm not a big fan of pineapple ... or at least I wouldn't be if I ate it for ten days on the trot 😂 Xxx

Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:19

MrsT thank you :)) I know it's hard but we need to get and stay energised and positive ... I know it's all a bit cliche but PMA and these lovely ladies is definitely making this journey tTC more enjoyable and it definitely helps knowing that not everyone in the world gets pregnant at the drop of a hat xxx

OP posts:
Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:23

My dp loves reading the news ... I hope he read the same article ladies Wink
We do talk about having a baby and since I quit smoking I've been blatantly subtler encouraging him to cut down ... and yesterday he went his first full day since i met him without a smoke ... yaaaaay ....
He vaped like a chimney all day but hey ho ... obviously me asking him if he was worried about his sperm quality is slowly sinking in xxx

Empathise on the work interruptions too ... why don't our work colleagues realise that our main project / focus and aim is to be upduffed asap Grin

Welcome MrsT I'm 25, TTC #2 and we're on cycle 10 now! I can honestly say that I was starting to get so obsessed and getting so down with it all before joining this chat. All these lovely ladies and this PMA are good for the soul Smile

Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:50

salem - I know what you mean about taking out a loan to pay for the clear blue ones ... at least your dh is fully on board! I've spent a small fortune on books, supplements, opks, pg tests and my dp is completely oblivious and continues to waste his money on designer clothes!
the sperm meets the egg plan is supposed to be pretty good ... if I had the choice I would follow it as my mate is always banging on about it

Hippychic79 · 21/02/2017 15:56

I hasten to add - I haven't bought any clothes in ages apart from a load of Ann summers undies which dp insists on keeping for a special occasion!! And before you all suggest I put this gear on to get him in the mood ... it doesn't work like that for me ... my dp gets enough pressure at work so doesn't appreciate me putting sex pressure on him ... he likes to suggest it ... which is fine if only he could time his desires with my egg white cm ... which I can feel is imminent Wink

Has anyone ever done the Clearblue trial? I took part back in November. They basically send you a box of Clearblue Digital Ov tests and monitor (like the one you use Salem) and 2 pregnancy tests, along with sample pots and diaries. You have to do a urine sample every morning, then when you have 2 weeks worth send them back. Then you keep a diary to show when you use the OV test and a diary to track when you DTD.

If you get pregnant then you carry on providing samples for a few months and they give you £50 highstreet vouchers. But if not (like I didn't) then they send you another box of the digital OV tests as a thank you. So I've been using the OV tests for the last 4 months and haven't had to pay for any yet Grin

MissMagpie · 21/02/2017 16:17

Ooh looms like you are close to ovulating Charley. Good luck!!

MrsT welcome. I am also trying to conceive #2. This is cycle 8 for me and I am 34. I have been going through the usual ttc fatigue when it isn't working as quickly as you want but we are all in this together!

Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts and magpie spotting. If only it was that sure! There is a pair of magpies in my garden constantly but it hasn't been a good omen yet!

I am convinced that AF is going to appear tmrw. I have vague crampy feelings and starting to get bloated. Just a matter of waiting to see either way I guess.

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 17:18

@archies the trial is closed for the time being, just went on to their website as i agree @salem & @hippy, they're a bloody fortune!

i know it's cycle 1 for me but i think i'd struggle with the IC OPKs as there's a lot of interpretation in a line. the smiley face adds to the #PMA too hehe.

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 17:21

@hippy ohhhh it's almost time!!! fx this is time for you chic xx

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 17:24

@magpie your BFP is due tomorrow isn't it? and you're not testing til thurs if AF doesn't show? i have butterflies for you, FX xx

BellaMoon · 21/02/2017 17:29

@nanny can we get an update please? hope you're nausea has tiny feet (who else hates those fucking sayings?? 🙋🏼)

fx for implantation bleed xxx

No sign of af yet. Yarm is lovely. Much nicer than Middlesbrough! We were at Preston park last Saturday.
