I would think the GP will do a blood test initially.
Re a blood test if you have one done you need need to ensure is that the GP compares the level of LH (luteinising hormone) against that of FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). These levels must be compared; the test is useless otherwise. The levels of LH and FSH should ideally be the same; an imbalance of LH to FSH is one possible indicator of PCOS.
If this is so you need a referral asap to a gyanecologist at a subfertility unit. Infact I think you have a referral anyway to such a unit as a matter of course.
