Hi there

Cazzybabs come and join us on Temp buddies...

Have lots of tips etc...

Supplement plan sounds good. A couple of us have had some trouble with OPK's, so don't place all your faith in them.

Take Care XX

AttilaTheMeerkat · 28/02/2007 06:55

The supplements for DH won't do him any harm if he is willing to take them but would say lay off the persona and opk's altogether (this is particularly important if your cycle is irregular in nature).

Ovulation predictor kits are beset with problems anyway; these assume that women only have one rise in LH every month and that such a rise is immediately followed by ovulation. Both of these assumptions are simply not true.

What are your periods like?. If they are irregular then help should be sought sooner rather than later.

Make love when you both feel like it and certainly keep any thoughts of timing of intercourse well away from your mind.

Ovulation is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Even normally fertile women have the occasional anovulatory cycle.

ImaWurzel · 28/02/2007 07:00

How do you work out when you ovulate again? There was a link to one site but i can't remember it. I'm still waiting to get back to normal since stopping the pill last oct.

danceswithnewboots · 28/02/2007 07:11

Attila - while I appreciate what you are saying I used to chart my cycle taking my temp every morning and my cycle was regular, followed all the patterns (one rise) and I conceived both times I tried straight away. Dh and I also used the shettles method to try for a boy and it worked. Now, don't get me wrong, I know I am EXTREMELY, extremely lucky but I just didn't want the side of 'charting your cycle' etc can work to go unspoken

Taking charge of your fertility by Dr Toni Weschler is the best book for any conception information. It's brilliant.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 28/02/2007 09:53

Hi Imawurzel,

Re your comment:-

"I'm still waiting to get back to normal since stopping the pill last oct".

Does this mean that your periods have become more irregular since stopping the pill last October?.

If so I would seek medical advice with a view to having a blood test done. Your hormone levels need to be carefully checked as if your LH and FSH levels are awry (these are ideally the same) then your cycle will be as well. Such irregularity of periods can be caused by hormonal imbalances which the pill has not caused but has helped to mask.

Hi danceswithboots

I was referring to the ovulation predictor sticks; not the basal temp charting method.
The original poster was going to buy some - I was trying to tell her not to waste her money on such things!.

Am very glad to read that temp charting worked for you - I did note that you had a very regular cycle. BTW did you know that only around 12% of all women have such a regular cycle?.

doots · 28/02/2007 12:25

No, I didn't! I'm even luckier than I knew then How come you are such an expert, are you a medical person or just a conception whizz?!!OOOOooooh, or Dr Toni in disguise

cazzybabs · 28/02/2007 12:32

My perid is fairly regular - about 28/29 days (typically 29 just when I have got my hopes up!)

Dh just forwarded me an article saying need to lay off low fat dairy food and eat more ice cream

My AF's were 21 days apart after stopping the pill,(took cilest for 21 days break for 7) Would then have 'AF' for 4 days.had early dec AF, then early jan, so 30 days, then start of feb, so another 30 days, but now AF appeared on 25th, thought i got back to monthlies.
Gonna wait til end of April to see doc cos then it will be 6mths,(dunno why really) i know it can take up to a year, any time after that then off to doc's it is. Hopefully something may happen this month.

Attila, your system is also heavily reliant in ever "feeling like it". It used to work for me, but alas, no longer.
