Help! When to test...

So, I have irregular cycles and have currently been waiting 4 months for an AF. This month, I have had PMS symptoms such as cramps, sore breasts and bloating. That was about a week ago. The doctor suggested I wait 3-4 weeks between taking pregnancy tests and the coming Friday, which is 5 days away, will have been the 4 week mark. However, I'm worried that the PMS type symptoms could be pregnancy symptoms and to test sooner, but also don't want to risk getting a false positive if it's too early.

What do I do? Test now or wait it out until Friday? It's driving me round the bend not know what these symptoms mean!

Test now! If its BFN at least you know its just a bit early.

Thank you. If it's negative, when should I test again, do you reckon? Wait another month or just a week or so? I suppose I could see if the symptoms continue..
