Hello all!
I am a first time poster, long time lurker. My period was due two days ago on Sunday (well. Ish. That's on a 29 day cycle which used to be normal but the last one was 30 and before that 26) and my breasts were so sore that I decided to do a test two days early on Friday. I used an IC and got such a faint second line that I couldn't be sure. I tested yesterday (one day late) with a Waitrose test and I got what I thought was a clear BFP. However, my anxiety has taken over and I'm so incredibly worried. I got up at 4am this morning and took another one. I set a timer to read it within 5 mins and it was positive too. Fiancé ordered two CB digis yesteday which should arrive today.

I am soo worried that I'm doing this wrong! I have a history of anxiety anyway but I'm close to tears right now, I'm so confused. I'm going to register at a doc today (moved house so my current GP is miles away) but can anyone tell me what they think? The test on the bottom is the recent one which was definitely within 5 mins, as it says on the test instructions. The top one was from yesterday and is probably about 14 hours old. Is there any way these tests are negative? My only symptoms are fatigue and very sore breasts! Thank you :)

It's a BFP congratulations! Xxx

HungryHorace · 31/01/2017 06:13

They are very, very definite BFPs. Congratulations!

Bettyisacat · 31/01/2017 06:15

Thank you Lovechild! So refreshing to have someone else look at it and tell me I'm not crazy. I'm so emotional it's unreal xxx

Congratulations! You're having a baby!

PetalMettle · 31/01/2017 06:44

Definite bfps - I was surprised how strong the lines were having read your text!
If you've got a history of anxiety, you might find you struggle during pg, so please make sure you have access to mental health help

MrsMontgomerySmythe · 31/01/2017 06:47

In the words of Simon Cowell
That is "a million per cent yes".

My 2 positive tests were weaker than that - both are teens now 😄

Congratulations.

Bettyisacat · 31/01/2017 06:49

Thank you Newtoday and PetalMettle!
And thanks for the anxiety tips. That's a good shout. I'll talk to the doc but I'll try to refer myself for therapy now, then if I do struggle I don't have to wait too long to get help.

I was expecting a real squinter from reading your OP. They are most definitely positive Betty, congratulations!

It's quite normal to be anxious during pregnancy. The lack of control and the 'unknown' can be hard for the best of us to deal with. I took a 'what will be will be' approach personally and tried to push any worries aside. If things were to go wrong they would have done so regardless of any anxiety, It was completely out of my control. I found researching as much as I could about pregnancy (reputable sources only. No scaremongering BS) so I had a good idea of what's normal and not really helped. For example I didn't find myself worried sick when I had the odd period type pains in early pregnancy, the lack of symptoms despite sickness or later on the bloody weird rhythmic tapping movements that lasted over 15 minutes at a time (hiccups!) because I already knew it was all fine and normal. If I hadn't have researched I think those things (and many more) would have really worried me.

My first BFP with DS was the squintiest squinter you've ever barely seen! Honestly, it was ridiculously faint. He's now 2 1/2. A line is very much a line for many of us (even when we've got eye strain to see it!).

HungryHorace · 31/01/2017 08:37

Here you go...found the first two tests I did with DS (don't injure your eyes now!).

Ha ha ha Horace DD's test were equally faint. 😂😂

OP congratulations! I agree with pp that you should flash up your anxiety asap. It's a difficult time and support is really important.

PetalMettle · 31/01/2017 11:56

I found taking it a day at a time and counting down between appointments worked for me

Bettyisacat · 31/01/2017 12:19

Horace, that's what my first one looked like! I was getting so confused looking at it though so I snapped a pic and binned it.
Thanks Jasmine! I definitely will.
Everyone has eased my mind so much. It's so easy to second guess myself. I keep thinking I'm wrong! I can't be though, not with boobs this sore :(

Petal and Alice your advice is helpful. One day at a time! For sure. Anxiety isn't going to control this, things will go wrong regardless. I'm gonna work on that! I'm actually a trained nurse but taking your own advice is tricky sometimes. I'm so glad I posted here, your comments are soo helpful! :)

My cheapie was fished out of the bin hours after I thought I'd got a BFN as I just didn't believe that it was right (second pregnancy with very familiar, pregnancy-specific, tiredness when I walked home from the hairdresser the day before). The FRER was done about an hour after I'd fished the IC from the bin and seen that ridiculous squinter on it...had to wait to need a wee (so it's a non-FMU at 10 DPO).

Bettyisacat · 31/01/2017 17:23

Horace that's amazing! I have to say, I've done a lot of tests but never felt the way I do now. This fatigue is next level! So if I get pregnant again I'll definitely recognise this feeling!

So I did a digital test today, which was positive! It helped to see it written down! I feel much better.

That's brilliant, Betty! Fantastic news. 😁

You can't beat seeing it written down.

haveacupoftea · 31/01/2017 20:30

Youre pregnant! Mention your anxiety to your midwife as the worrying only gets worse from here!

Bettyisacat · 31/01/2017 20:38

Thank you Horace! x
Haveacupoftea, I definbitely will! I'll be telling them first thing! Thank you x

rachelrcrossley · 31/01/2017 20:44

Congratulations! Definitely positive. I was squinting at a much much fainter line than that 5 months ago (expecting our second child in May).
