Helloo! Given up on netmums. No one bothers to reply to my threads. After a scout on here..you all sound like a helpful bunch.. So here goes!

Hi I have one child . Trying for second. 2nd month trying. My cycles are 28days usually. My period this month was jan15th -jan19th.
Last night and today I have had the grossest cervical mucus (so 2-3days after my period ends/cycle day 8-9)

TMI warning the mucus has been thick,strong,stretchy but not particularly slippery.. And has hairline blood streaks in. Now I have had stretchy before .. But I'm talking stretches 5inches or so.. And difficult to break.. Some was pale pink/light brown. So it says online this can be fertile.. But 2days after my period?? On a 28day cycle?? And if its not fertile (seems awfully thick..) what the hell.is wrong with me..

Worrying a fair bit. Also dont want to miss my fertile window.. Albeit very early in cycle!?

Anyone had similar.. Or have any ideas. That would be lovely.

I'm guessing you know what EWCM looks like? Also were you on any hormonal contraception before TTC?

If you are worried about the blood i would suggest you go to see your GP

Hi! No wasn't on any contraception before. Yeah I dont go poking around.. But if I happen to wipe any I've seen what I think is fertile mucus. But what does this sound like? Could I be fertile so early in cycle? Does that happen? Thanks for reply x

I'd recommend OPK tests, they take all the guesswork away.

Its not something I had considered but heard a lot about. Not sure how it all works though. Have read a lot of posts on people saying they are showing as fertile at all diff times in the month etc. Sounded a but confusing. Maybe next month I should try.
It says online that a 28day cycle would mean you were fertile around day 14.. So I doubt id be fertile CD 8?

I used OPK sticks for my children. When trying for my first child, I used OPK sticks every day for a month. This is not recommended but I had cheap(er) sticks and wasn't too concerned about wasting them. I think I did that as I did not find it easy to read the results. I then changed to Clear Blue digital sticks though I'm sure any digital ones would be as easy to read.

I remember being surprised with DC2 as I got a smiley face a lot earlier than I thought it should be. DC2 was conceived that month.

Thanks for your input. Will get next month I think if no success this month. Sounds handy to know.. Having sex every couple of days at th mo to cover ovulation!

I tend to get Ewcm about 3 days before ov. You are fertile up to 5 or so days before ov. If you wait to Dtd until ov you've missed the boat as it takes sperm 12-24 hours to get to the Fallopian tubes and the egg is only there for about a day.

So make with the Dtd!

I've been having this since periods returned after ds. I then get another bit if ewcm later mid cycle but much less. Not worked out what's happening!
Ttc#2 at the mo, I might use opks through my period next time to check if there's anything going on then too.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Its the thickness of CM that confused me... So tough!? Wasn't sure if this is fertile or not. It says on some websites if too thick, the CM makes it too difficult for sperm.. Yet the stretchy-ness of it sounds like the fertile kind.. Period was 15th - 19th. Been DTD 22nd,23rd.. And will continue each day,or 2nd day for a fortnight. This should cover my chances surely!?
