Conceiving as you get older...

I am currently 27 and have no children, my partner will be 34 in a few months time.
We aren't ready for children yet but definitely want a family one day.
Are we pushing it age wise? I really don't want to leave it too late and then have trouble.
Have also read the chance of having a healthy pregnancy and baby gets less each year as you get to 30?!

Well statistically it will be easier and quicker to conceive now and you are more likely to encounter a healthy full term pregnancy than if you waited a few years. I had my first baby at 23, my second at 25 and my last at 27. I was the first of my friends to have children (dc1 was was not planned!)My friends and I are all early thirties now and they are starting to try to get pregnant. Two of them have had miscarriages, one has had repeated miscarriages, and two have had problems conceiving. It took another friend 3 cycles to conceive dc1 age 30, and over a year to conceive dc2 age 34.
That said, most women are waiting that bit longer and most of them are conceiving easily. I'd be weary of waiting too long..but there's no rush yet!

I conceived in 5 months at the back end of 35 and 3 months when I was at the back end of 36 / just 37. Plenty of people are conceiving / having babies into their 40s these days.

Obviously the earlier you start the more time you have to get pregnant before it is too late should you have problems conceiving, but at your age you do still have a fair amount of time.

I had my first child at 27, a bit of a surprise after having taken a risk once. In my early thirties I got pregnant reasonably easy within just under a year. In my mid thirties it took over four years. There never is a totally right time. Fertility goes down with age.

I conceived my first child at 34 first try. I waited until 37 to go for number two, had a chemical pregnancy first month and then got pregnant with twins the following month! This was quite a risky approach though as had there been any fertility problems I would have started running out of time to get help and also once you're over 35 the likelihood of a multiple birth increases. Wish someone had told me that sooner (currently 36 weeks, the size of a house and wondering just what I've got myself into!)

I had babies when I was 18,19, 22 and 25........ fell pregnant almost straight away with each. I've not been able to stay pregnant since (8 losses) and since my last loss maybe 3 years ago I've not been able to get pregnant. I'm so thankful I had my children young as if I'd waited till I was older to start trying I wouldn't have had any children.

Ps I'm 38 now, but been trying for another since I was about 28
