Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Hi 👋 mouse - hope your ok. Hope the midwife appointment goes ok.
Your poor friend. X

Kwick what should I be eating? Had a strong positive yesterday.
Had positive again this lunchtime on a frer not a strong but I have been peeing every 30mins or so today so hgc levels would be less strong?

Have a clear blue test here but not going to use until later on.

Am so nervous. Am excited but so want everything to be ok. And for AF not to come back.

Not symptom spotting but been weeing an awful lot and am soooo tied.

Peachyteach · 17/01/2017 20:45

kwik not sure when it is on and what channel currently looking at recording it now!!!! I love crap like that!

Don't pulses make you s but trumpy? Blush

Deffo living in sin and loving - hoping a baby will come out of wedlock just to freakier the family even more - I'm so old now they've stopped asking - ha!

Infolic looks sooooo expensive - probs it should just go for it but think I'll give it a few more months before heading to docs.

Mouse - hang on in there.
gaelach - great work on the timing!!
carley - been to so many weddings reckon it won't take long to pick out some stuff - any tips/hints?

kwick · 17/01/2017 21:08

miw!!!!! So exciting!!! PM me if you want list of fertility boosting foods etc. Basically if preggers you have to avoid some foods - NHS site has latest guidelines.

peachy I am quite farty anyway Blush I do not notice extra fartiness due to pulses.
I guess Inofolic is quite dear - but if this helps me lose weight then well worth it. I buy 3 months at a time - which brings the price down. Also when you fork out £200 for a scan it makes everything look cheap in comparison!!!

MouseLove · 17/01/2017 21:27

Kwick, Home fertility test = spunk in a pot and dip a pipette in it. Looked messy. Kinda put me off my spaghetti and meatballs. 🙊

Congratulations Mewi!!!! I just spotted you got your BFP. 😊

Yes it's weird being in limbo again, I've been reading here and my other TTC threads but I didn't want to upset/piss off anyone if I'm honest. Don't quite fit in on the preggo boards yet either as they are all commenting about sore boobs or being sick. The grads thread is keeping me sane. FXSkip has rescued me a few times. 😘

Peachyteach · 17/01/2017 21:54

mewi massive congrats!!!!
kwik too funny. Found the day yes to dress now - recording has commenced. Whoop.

macsworth · 17/01/2017 22:21

I moved out of London last Summer. We'd been renting in east London for 7 years and decided that the market was too hard to deal with so we moved out, bought a house and haven't actually looked back. Although DH and I are lucky to have jobs that allow us to move everyone. Good luck to all of you buying/moving in London!

Interview done (not sure I want it though, they're seemed really unfriendly), brother visited. I am done for 2017 stress now thanks...who am I kidding, I'm still TTC.

gimble I hope you're holding up ok.

miw congratulations! FX your clear blue give you a conclusive answer.

macsworth · 17/01/2017 22:22

Anywhere, not everyone
(I really should proof read these posts of mine!)

Londonjam · 17/01/2017 22:26

Good work gaelach hope the rest of the week also goes to plan

Glad all going well mouse, sorry about your friend ☹️

It must be so nerve wracking miw have you told many people irl? How many cycles were you on?

Well done macs a tough day got through

GimbleInTheWabe · 17/01/2017 23:57

Thanks for thinking of me macs I've actually headed back to London now. My nan is still hanging on in there bless her heart. I feel better knowing I have told her I love her. RE your interview there's actually something quite satisfying about going to an interview and thinking... nah. Makes me feel a bit more in control anyway!

Big congrats to miw!

miwelaisjacydo · 18/01/2017 06:40

jam - no nobody except DH. And I debated telling him!! Erm am extremely nervous was on cycle 11. So a long time coming.

Gimble x

Mac re interview just remember things happen for a reason.

miwelaisjacydo · 18/01/2017 06:41

So if you don't get it something better is round the corner.

passmethewine123 · 18/01/2017 06:52

I just tested, don't know why as I'm only 9dpo just felt a compulsive urge. Not surprised to see a bfn shining back at me. Oh well at least it's satisfied my need to POAS so I should be able to resist temptation until Saturday when I'll be 12dpo.
No particular symptoms, certainly no big ones like nausea etc but I have been having AF cramps for four or five days now which is unusual for me. I have very mild period cramps and always only on the first day of AF, so whatever is going on inside at the moment is definitely unusual for me. There is also no sign of my sore boobs which I normally get religiously about a week before AF, they then subside about 2 days before AF arrives. So far no boob tenderness at all so don't know if the lack of it is a symptom in inself....

kwick · 18/01/2017 08:07

pass 9dpo is way too early!!!! I will keep my LSFX for you Grin

Jesus it is cold!!! I am off to the Dermatologist this pm - to look at newish mole and get opinion on intermittent itchiness.
My cousin is flying off to the Caribbean today... I could do with some warmth round about now.

passmethewine123 · 18/01/2017 08:56

I know I know Blush I just couldn't help myself, I knew I shouldn't have bought them yesterday I have zero willpower!

Ooo a trip to the Caribbean would be just lovely! Lucky sods

Presh88 · 18/01/2017 09:05

I know the feeling! After my very faint line yesterday I want to wait until at least Friday to test again so went to the loo in complete darkness this morning to avoid the temptation of POAS Blush

passmethewine123 · 18/01/2017 09:09

Haha Presh! Think I'll try that method myself tomorrow

Kathrino · 18/01/2017 09:39

Congrats miw! Good old cycle 11.

Nice to see you mouse, I'm sorry about your friend Flowers

Keeping everything crossed for our end of week testers!

kwick, if it makes you feel any better, my parents have been in the caribbean for the last couple of weeks. The first few days were okay but it's been quite rainy and chilly for the last week or so.

kwick · 18/01/2017 10:28

LOL presh that is an ace idea - lack of light, no POAS plight!!!!

ah no kathrino I want them to have a great time - my cousin is actually half Puerto Rican (where they are off to) and they so deserve to have some warm weather and a lovely time with the family over there.

So I have done some research as I think we are all beyond OPKs, POAS and temping and here is a bona fide fertility spell:

During your most fertile time (usually 2 days before, during and after ovulation), light 9 white candles in your bedroom. Place them around your bed. Sit or stand nude with your partner, facing the North, and repeat the following:

With one mind, we call to thee.
With one heart, we long for thee
Child of Earth, Wind, Fire & Sea,
Into our lives, we welcome thee

Turn to the East, then South, then West, repeating this incantation each time you do so. Proceed as nature requires. Repeat this spell each of the five nights before intercourse.

WHO WILL TAKE THE PLUNGE AND TRY OUT????? Grin

I am leaving work well early today to go to Dr.... really cannot drum up enthusiasm to work hard until then... what is wrong with me?

Flashinthepan · 18/01/2017 10:29

Morning ladies! I'm either CD 8 if last months spotting was spotting, or CD 12 if it was a long slow start to AF. Having some stabby pains near my right hip, which I'm thinking could be OV pains, but no other OV signs, opk twice yesterday, morning and evening, both snowy white. Normally get lots of EWCM but so far not. Temps still low. Who knows!

Had acupuncture last night and fell asleep. Lovely!

Presh and Pass you are teasing us with POAS!

kwick · 18/01/2017 10:30

Yay Peachy I hope you do say "yes" to the dress!!! I hope you are watching the US ones - they are much more fun that the UK version.

Pyjamas81 · 18/01/2017 10:45

Kwick if I didn't have to stand there naked with DH and do it, I probably would 😂 The laughing too hard would stop any dtd though!

Flashinthepan · 18/01/2017 10:50

Hahaha. I'm not sure I could convince DH to do it and also slightly worried there might be naked burning incidents with all those candles around!

Although I am very impressed with your spells Kwick.

macsworth · 18/01/2017 12:07

kwick that spell is brilliant! Would have to do it while DH is out...explaining to him what Royal Jelly was, was enough for him to think I'd lost it! Chanting might be a step too far.

miw thanks, that's such a nice way of looking at it!
And yes, gimble there is something slightly smug and relieving about realising I don't care what the outcome is. I'm so glad you got to tell your nan you love her! 💐

Anyone know any good YouTube yoga videos/teachers? My DH is up for doing some with me but he's too self conscious to go to a class at the mo so I thought I'd start with a beginners video at home.

harrietm87 · 18/01/2017 12:55

Omg I am getting SO bored of waiting... CD12 today but long cycles plus shortish luteal phase means FW doesn't start until CD17! And clearblue opks aren't even interested in me until CD15.

It's been almost a year since my chemical and since we stopped trying. Telling myself few more days won't hurt! DH has been very ahem amorous recently...hoping he doesn't exhaust himself before next week...

Kathrino · 18/01/2017 13:25

macs, I really like Yoga with Adriene. She does a series of 'boot camps' every Jan which you can follow or she has loads of standalone videos and a lot are for beginners. I hate going to classes but find her videos a really good way to do yoga at home.
