Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Hi all I've been out of the loop for ages for some reason I could not log in and when I tried to reset my password it didn't send me the link Angry so set up a new profile now!!
AF still due 31st so who knows. Doubt I'm in this month as we've not dtd that much...we did dtd 2 days before ov but then after that not until 4 days after! It's been one of those months plus I'm kind of trying to get out of the habit of dtd for pure preggo reasons to keep the fires alive still Blush!
Anyways only symptom I've had is really sore boobs right from 4 days after ovulation which doesn't usually happen it's usually 5 days before AF not trying to read into it too much as my cycle is only just starting to settle down after BC. Damn sore though!
I'm going to catch up with the thread to see the news sorry if anyone has had AF or other news and I missed it Flowers

That's great you've been referred flash and can get a specialist to look into what's going on. Yes let's hope a BFP intervenes and you don't need the poking and prodding after all

Fx for your swab results EJ
*
Kath* that sounds lovely to me! With DH working away a lot I'm very much used to the telly and sofa and cat all to myself 😊 it's great.

Pyjamas we all need a blow out from time to time, it sounds like you had fun! I don't think it will make a jot of difference either

Good luck chatting to your Mum skipper it can be nerve wracking bringing it up, and I hope she has the reaction you need. My mum often laughs - not in a nasty way but trying to make light of it - still not helpful! And reminds me how easily she conceived four children... again not helpful... and usually tells me not to get stressed and to relax. My biggest TTC pet hate!! Haha thanks Mum.

Pyjamas81 · 27/01/2017 13:58

Ah thanks for for helping me keep it in perspective skipper and jam ☺️

DH still giving me silent treatment (world's grumpiest man when tired), but am sure he'll get over it soon.

Am sooooo looking forward to a night on the sofa catching up on eastenders and The Affair! DH is out, so am sure I'll get a taste of my own medicine tonight!

Talking to your mum about it could definitely help skipper (obviously all depends on what relationship with mum is like). I told mine right from the beginning and it's been a huge help.

WingingIt83 · 27/01/2017 14:08

I might also bringing it up with my mum if I think she found the thermometer. Have a friend who knows and is also trying and DH told his mum after needing to ask her some questions in connection with his SA.

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 14:14

Okay wow so much has been going on so apologies if I miss anyone!

flash glad to hear your dr is positive about stuff and that they have actually referred you rather than leaving you hanging yay!

ej meh to the flu prodding but good luck with the test!

jam enjoy the weekend sounds lovely

skipper well done on that it sounded intense but hopefully it did the job fx fx fx

kwik yay!!

alexia um so as you are official 'queen of charts' have you thought about becoming like a charting personal trainer? I officially suck lol Grin

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 14:17

Oh and

pjs don't feel guilty about that you obvs had a brill night out, life's for living and all that stuff plus I've lost count of the people I know who got up duffed the month they had a big blow out lol

af sorry just seen Flowers

Flashinthepan · 27/01/2017 15:19

To everyone talking about telling their mums, obviously everyone's relationship with their mums is different, but I didn't talk to my mum too much, even after I lost the pregnancy last time, but at Christmas I fell apart on her and it helped so much. Its hard to explain but it was nice to be able to talk about it with someone who, although she would love for me to have children, loves me more than anything else and so it makes you feel valued for more than being able to have a baby.

Flashinthepan · 27/01/2017 15:20

Also, I have loads of low down crampy feelings and my boobs feel big!

sk1pper · 27/01/2017 15:36

I just hope my mum doesn't feel upset that I didn't confide in her earlier. I have mentioned my painful periods and cyst trouble...it's likely she's already guessed what's going on. I've also told her I'm worried I won't be able to have children, to which she simply replied "of course you will".

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 15:38

flash my boobs feel bigger than usual too and sore, have been so since 3DPO not trying to read into it much but yay to bigger boobs

Kathrino · 27/01/2017 15:58

I can't imagine telling my mum that we are TTC! I assume that she knows in a sort of abstract way because we're married and she knows we want children but DH and I are far too private to share that kind of information with anyone (other than you lot obviously!).

pyjamas, echoing what the others have said. I wouldn't give having a few drinks a second thought. I drank at least a bottle of champagne (if not more!) on Wednesday with some work people. My DH was similarly unamused about being woken up though!

Flashinthepan · 27/01/2017 16:08

Skip I'm sure your mum will just be pleased you feel able to talk to her now. You can always say that you didn't want to tell her you were trying so that it would be a surprise when you told her you were pregnant, but now it's taking longer/more troubles than you expected you wanted to discuss it with her.

Missy haha I'm definitely in the yay to bigger boobs! When I was pregnant last time, I was about to buy new bras at 7 weeks (glad I didn't) but I fear if I manage to have a full term pregnancy I'll have boobs the size of my head!

sk1pper · 27/01/2017 16:12

Flash - that advice is amazing, thank you. Will say just that xx

So so jealous of those of you symptom spotting right now, this feels like the longest cycle ever ATM. Any testers coming up? My list is on the computer at home...

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 16:12

Wow flash they sound pretty impressive lol. I'm of the teeny boob camp so this is a nice change Grin

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 16:14

skip I promised I wouldn't test until after my AF due date of 31st so not testing quite yet. I'd be totally surprised if I got a BFP this month though it's been a bit of a desert...

Flashinthepan · 27/01/2017 16:18

Oh Missy I too am in the teeny boob/can get away without a bra camp, but they have just massively expanded, looks like I have 4 boob (you know when your bra cuts in on the top and squidges them out!)

Skip glad I could help Smile.

In other horrid news, there is a poor woman on the conception boards who's just got her BFP after a year of trying (with full knowledge and agreement of her DP), only to be told by her DP that he wants her to have an abortion! What is wrong with some men!!!! To balance it out, I read a thread yesterday about a woman who has been TTC for a year with a man without his knowledge!!!

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 16:18

On the mum front mine is a little gem really I hope she knows I think this maybe I'll tell her this weekend. She's no pressure type of mum, sure she'd like grandkids but she's never really asked however she found out we were trying when I rushed round hers on way from work before Christmas feeling sick out of the blue so obvs she asked if we were trying and my face gave it away. Even then when I got my AF she was like well these things happen it takes time and so on...wish I'd spoken to her earlier now!

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 16:21

flash lol four boobidge I totally have that too haha

Wtf what a doosh about that poor woman and her DP. Seriously Angry

Oh and to the other woman what a great basis for a relationship hmmmm let's just hope he's relaxed about it if it happens...

Pyjamas81 · 27/01/2017 16:31

Thanks for making me feel a bit better guys - you're right, not the end of the world and it was a really really fun night ☺️

DH is still ignoring my texts, he's starting to annoy me now, I've apologised ffs, there isn't much more I can do!

Can't believe that about that poor lady and her DP, how bloody awful.

sk1pper · 27/01/2017 16:44

Pyjamas - he seems to care deeply about it and that's lovely to see in a man. Though I agree, ignoring you for this amount of time after an apology is a bit extreme. Ahh well, life would be boring if men were perfect.

kwick · 27/01/2017 17:13

flash this is good that you have been referred Grin

I am on my way back from Paris - all caught up on Eastenders! Flipping want to kill Shakil's "friend" Angry

jam have a great time up north!

missy DO NOT TRUST THE BOOBS!!! You too flash!

Haha flash you see my dilemma then? I am already a 40J!!!! & all my bras dig... may have to opt for comfort bras (which I sleep in) and settle for boobs round my knees!

We are going to Lakeland tomorrow to look at their heated clothed driers! I am so excited - this could make a big difference in my flat.

Musicgrrl · 27/01/2017 17:29

So glad to hear your good news kwik and glad the procedure didn't show anything worrying skipper. Although it sounded painful!

Got my fx for everyone in the tww. Sending lots of positive vibes for testing time!

SmittenPears · 27/01/2017 18:07

Flash I feel your pain on the jeans being snug... trying to work on that...! Hope all is well with you.

Mrsbluebell17 · 27/01/2017 18:17

So sorry for my radio silence. Had a mental week at work, will try and catch up over the weekend.
Wanted to jump on in the meantime and ask for advice. First time using OPKs properly and just got these..... (see attached!)
What now? We DTD last night - are we on track? Should we DTD again tonight or tomorrow? Advice greatly received.

MissyJones80s · 27/01/2017 18:28

Thanks kwik I definitely don't trust the boobs in fact I don't trust any symptom as they can all be other things! Nice to have some nice boobage for a change though haha
