Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

AlexiaB · 15/01/2017 13:57

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

I should add Flash - sometimes our charts can look different to normal for whatever reason. My current chart doesn't look like any of my other Femara charts. The rise isn't as clear cut as usual, probably due to CD12 temp not 'dipping' enough and being unreliable. I also have crosshairs on the day I got a +ve OPK because my temp shifted the next morning. +ve OPK was at 8pm CD12 though and still 95% +ve the next day. Always expect the unexpected with the female body Grin

Thank you Alexia. Its much nicer to have someone unbiased looking at rather than me trying to work out what it all means!

I know I have been a total mad woman this month so I really appreciate all the support from all of you. I have found it much more difficult getting back to TTC then I expected and knowing I can come here and share it with all of you is such a massive help!

Here's to all the crazy symptom spotting for whatever is left of the 2WW!

Starfish33 · 26/01/2017 15:15

Kwick and Sk1pper, so pleased to see your updates - brilliant news. Well done both of you! Flowers

I haven't yet had an online rant so here's a mini, probably somewhat predictable one: 8dpo, crazily symptom spotting (with no clear signs of implantation Sad); this wait is simply unbearable! I'd rather just know so that I can prep for next month and have a G&T/glass of vino. Arghhh!

Right, rant over. Forgive me, lovelies, and happy Thursday to you all Smile x

SmittenPears · 26/01/2017 15:58

starfish, I am with you 100%. No clear symptoms, but watching for them like crazy. 2nd week of TWW.... ugh.
When are you planning to test?

harrietm87 · 26/01/2017 15:58

Thanks alexia knew I could count on you.

Yes I got the static smiley yesterday am so that means i ovulated today? I actually had some twinges in my left side last night so wondering if that was it.

Here's to the start of the tww then!

Pyjamas81 · 26/01/2017 16:09

I'm right there with you Harriet! Got static smiley and positive OPK Tuesday night (was still flashing that morning), just waiting for temps to confirm ov now!

Flashinthepan · 26/01/2017 16:13

Starfish Smitten I too have been symptom spotting and have convinced myself that my jeans feeling too tight are a symptom (actually they are a symptom of eating too much at Christmas and not shifting the extra few pounds yet!)

AlexiaB · 26/01/2017 16:13

No worries Flash, glad to have helped. You have not been a mad woman either! I think what we all have here is something very special. I'd be lost with you ladies!

That sounds promising with the O pain harriet. Have you noticed a change in CM? That's usually a good indicator.

Starfish implantation can happen any time between 7 and 12 dpo so there's still loads of time! Don't drive yourself crazy with the symptom spotting, often people don't get any before a BFP.

There seems to be a lot of us in the tww now. Hopefully lots of BFPs coming our way Smile

Binky - just seen your earlier message. You are still young in the eyes of the NHS so they will probably get you to wait unfortunately. The only real issue is you have less tries in a year than most people but there's nothing to suggest you wont conceive.

Harriet - to be honest, the room was spinning when the consultant was talking to me. He mentioned once or twice that my womb had twisted slightly but he made it sound like it was a common problem. I think its perhaps more just the severity of the pain, it probably means there was a lot of gunk for the dye to push out. I could literally feel the dye filling along my tubes at the end, like a burning sensation and then white hot once it spilled into my ovaries. Er, I hope I don't put anyone off having a HSG - I know I've said it before but the staff were amazing and I felt in very safe hands. I moan about the NHS a lot of here but today it really shined. Very grateful.

Star - rant away honey, though I wouldn't call that a rant. You are much more laid back than you think you are! Not everyone gets a clear indication of implantation and some people get it much later that 8dpo so don't give up just yet.

OH and I have decided to not DTD tonight, my advanced OPK is negative - no static or flashing smiley. So I'm gonna relax, have a bath and look forward to having a nice romantic evening in with him tomorrow.

Tonks87 · 26/01/2017 16:16

I'm 7dpo and I've spotted practically every symptom going. I think I may actually be crazy!

Tonks87 · 26/01/2017 16:19

I haven't had chance to read everything as I'm at work (I'm an accountant and tax return deadlines means it's manic) but just wanted say I'm really glad everything went ok today Sk1pper and Kwick.

WingingIt83 · 26/01/2017 16:38

Just popping on to say massive congrats kwick!!
And well done sk1p on going through that, fingers crossed this does the trick for you.

I'm feeling the impending doom of cycle 12, AF due tomorrow :-(
So far have had cramps for a few days, no change in boobs, no weird sense of smell, general feeling of being close to tears. ..therefore pretty much ruling myself out.

Only unusual things this month are lack of much CM (usually get loads of creamy stuff in lead up to AF) and been needing the loo a lot today.
Since my thermometer is still awol at my parents house no warning going to come from that.

Kaydee2017 · 26/01/2017 16:41

Just popping on to say yay for skipper & kwick!!! GrinGrin hope your recovery is swift skipper! And alexia how amazing is your chart knowledge - you should write a book!

Crazy at work this week so have been poor at keeping up & am completely knackered & want to curl up & sleep for a week, but no, now off home for CD14 DTD! Day off work tomorrow though Smilebut hope everyone is doing ok Flowers fx for lots of BFPs coming up for all those testing soon - GL all!

Peachyteach · 26/01/2017 16:42

pyjamas we did it twice before ovulating. Once on ovulation day and then nothing afterwards. Reckon the little swimmers must have been hanging around for a good few days to crack the egg - hope it all goes to plan 😳

Starfish33 · 26/01/2017 17:02

Thanks so much, folks - you're such a support and I'm very grateful to be able to have some like-minded women to chat to on this journey!

Smitten, was going to try and wait until AF us due (4th February) but not sure I'll be able to hold out 'til then! What about you?

Flash, I thought the same thing the other day, ha!

Tonks, hope you're doing OK in the ghastly waiting period too!

Skipper and Alexia, thank you for your reassurance Smile x

SmittenPears · 26/01/2017 17:41

Starfish, that's a coincidence, I should really hold out until that day too. Should we pair up and keep each other accountable? ;) Take the no-POAS pledge until the 4th?

Miranda234 · 26/01/2017 17:42

Wow lots of you in the TWW, got my fx for all of you and lots of BFPs!

I've started temping this month, think I must have picked the worst thermometer for it as I have to switch the thing on and off for what feels like 10 times before it records my temperature by which point I'm angry so I'm sure I'm skewing my temperature Grin

My family now know we're TTC because of the holiday we can't go on, well I've told them in the next year we'll be trying, they don't know we have been trying for months already! It's quite sweet actually as they're all really excited, my sister is already getting her old baby clothes/cots/maternity wear sorted Shock need to try and slow her down with it all!

Hope the doctors goes well tomorrow flash and that you get some answers

Londonjam · 26/01/2017 18:08

Skipper you haven't put me off at all, if anything I want one more. It really sounds as much an intervention as an investigation. Good idea to give yourself a rest tonight

Fx winging you just never know when that BFP might appear

Fx for all testers in fact!

Aww that's a lovely response Miranda

I'm 7 DPO but no symptom spotting over here. Over the last day or so I've actually been feeling quite strong like I'm coming to terms with it not happening for us. Infertility was one of my biggest fears and now I'm having to face it I've found I CAN cope and it makes me feel quite strong.

Trying to hold onto that feeling as the second half of the TWW tends to be fairly weepy and full of despair...

kwick · 26/01/2017 19:00

binky my bum spots are getting better thanks to Savlon and Stridex Grin

Sorry all I have not been a very good threader these past days - I have been so worried about scan.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that message peaches thanks for sharing 💕

sk1pper fcuk that sounds awful!!!! You poor thing!!! But really positive news!!!!! You will see - your BFP will happen soon now!!!
Your recount gave me flashbacks to my own ordeal!

😟 I am such a bad threader you are awarding Cake without me... I must do a better job!!!

DO IT jam!!! If you can afford to go private: DO IT!!! It will give you peace of mind and a better chance!!!

Still so much to catch up on!! But need to get off bus...
12.31

Kathrino · 26/01/2017 19:01

Well done for surviving that sk1pper, hope you're taking it nice and easy tonight Flowers

Good luck at the doctors tomorrow Flash, hope they can help.

Tired (and a little bit hungover...oops) today so apologies for not catching up properly. Think I'm going to have a nice bath and early bed. I've not been v relaxed during this TWW so far and need to change that and channel some zen.

harrietm87 · 26/01/2017 19:27

Another question from me (sorry!) - now I've ovulated (hopefully), should I start taking my vitamin b complex again? I stopped taking it as I thought it made my cycles really long, which was crap when I was waiting to start trying but might be a good thing now if trying to extend my luteal phase. Or is it too late now?

Peaches8Posies · 26/01/2017 19:35

wing many ladies get their bfp when they least expect it, fx for you.

kathrino im also very tired. It's a cold one up here tonight so I'm on the couch with a cuppa tea fleece jammies blanket socks and furry booties watching the soaps. Hopefully your bath helps you relax. I'm having drinks next weekend as part of my fuck it day. Looking forward to it and relaxing.

kwick it made me smile, happy to share Smile. I hope you are relaxing now. I would have been very nervous too, but any pregnancy after a mc will be nervy to start with. Enjoy your happy news. You will be amazed how much more you will see in your next scan.

jam yes we are strong. And when you do get to hold you little baby in your arms just think how amazing that will make you feel. Can't wait!

miranda that's sweet of your sister. Glad your family are all excited for you.

sk1p sounds like you have had a positive day and your pain was worth it. Love that the nurse felt they have helped you. Fx you see the benefits soon. Like jam I'm looking forward to getting it done now too, not the pain but for the results obviously Grin.

Off to see whats happening in Eastenders Brew

Peaches8Posies · 26/01/2017 19:37

Sorry forgot to say flash hope your gp listens to you and is sympathetic and helpful Flowers

Starmist · 26/01/2017 20:07

Kwick I'm so pleased & relieved it was good news for you xx

Skipper I'm sorry it was awful but keeping everything crossed it does the trick for you. Glad to hear you aren't in pain now. You definitely deserve something lovely as a treat this weekend.

Winging really hope AF stays away.

Jam yes lovey you ARE strong & amazing, & it WILL happen for you.

Good luck to everyone in the 2ww.

Londonjam · 26/01/2017 20:10

Starmist ! how are you???
