Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

AlexiaB · 15/01/2017 13:57

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Gimble so sorry about your nan, even at 90, still tough SadFlowers

And for the BFN pass Flowers

Hope your chin has recovered too hep!

I am due AF (or rather BFP Grin) 12th Feb if this month follows last, so can you put me down for the please skipper? Smile

Have decided to kick F2Weeks off now at CD9 given I aren't doing OPKs or temping or anything - don't want to miss the egg!!

Hope you all have lovely weekends planned - LSFX to all!!

kwick · 21/01/2017 09:05

pyjamas if I may be so bold: if you get NHS funded IVF (they often try IUI first) then do all the tests with NHS, then do a few rounds of IUI private then if you need to do IVF on NHS? IVF, even when natural cycle (which I am not sure the NHS offer) is very hard on body/emotions.
Last time I had a lovely embryo that did not implant: devastating- as you know for sure life was made but it just did not snuggle in.

kwick · 21/01/2017 09:24

MouseLove best of luck with your scan Smile

harrietm87 · 21/01/2017 09:44

Morning all! First viewings on our flat today so have been up cleaning for hours!

gaelach hello - another Irish here! (Live in London tho)
gimble so sorry about your nan. No matter how old someone is I don't think you're ever ready to let them go.

jam I really hope you're ok. You've had a seriously tough time recently and don't deserve a shite GP. You need to go back and challenge him.

kwick I love GIDC - thought the two in the final were both great! I loved Oliver's rooms but think Daniela deserved it as she did have more of a range.

EJ2009 · 21/01/2017 09:46

kwick no haven't been watching those. I will have to give them a go. I'm not keen on the ultra modern, out there look that they sometimes do on those things though. I never got over that American woman that helps you sell your house, deciding to paint a beautiful victorian fire surround in purple. Pmsl, im a bit sensitive about this...the previous owners of our cottage hadn't looked after it & had let the kids go feral so all( i mean all) of the walls had pen & crayon on, the family had painted the kitchen wall bright red around where the tv was hanging on the wall (which looked great when they moved out with the tv) and they had live eletrical wires exposed in the cupboard in the childrens room....

MrsIz · 21/01/2017 09:48

Morning everyone

Wow - this thread moves on so quickly!

Skipper - could you put me down for the 28th? Think I might be due on the 25th from ovulation date but not sure if my recent Clomid cycle times (28 days) or my mom Clomid times (33 days) is the right one as this is my first month post 2 rounds of Clomid.

Pyjamas - thanks for your update on the hystocopothy. I am on the wait list for mine and it was meant to be this month (latest) but still no nhs date. As I'm having another larasopothy at the same time (I have confirmed endo so they want to see how bad it is) I'm not sure I can justify going private. But you sounded really brave! Hope you are all recovered and looking forward to fw and dtd.

EJ - that sound really similar to my endo symptoms. I'm surprised your gp was so dismissive but go to the nice one. I had a endo related cyst about 10 years ago in my early twenties -how is that ten years ago?- and had a larasopothy to remove it. Gynaecologist lasered out some endo as well and I have lovely pain free periods for quite a few years after!

Gimble - I'm so sorry for your loss. Lost my dad last year as well - just be kind to yourself for the next few weeks.

Xx

Londonjam · 21/01/2017 10:05

So sorry about your Gran gimble it really hurts no matter how old they are. Thinking of you 💐

I can't get my head around this morphology thing at all. I'm so depressed by this result, I feel helpless. As many places say it's not a problem as they do say it is. How can something like this be so little understood? I'm tearing myself up over it. The link you posted flash was really helpful - and was another one saying morphology doesn't mean anything. I get the impression that men make a lot of abnormal shaped sperm and it doesn't actually matter. I think it's the level of abnormality that matters - if it can't swim or penetrate the egg then it's not going to work. DH has good motility and a good count. Maybe that's why my gp is saying this is not a problem? My best mate is an obstetrician and showed our first results to two fertility specialists who also said yes they can conceive naturally. One of them said it might take them a big longer than average.

Sorry I haven't caught up properly. I'm just in a proper fog over this. Couldn't sleep properly and feel really low and confused Sad

Londonjam · 21/01/2017 10:11

My gp has referred us to the hospital and she was very caring and nice about it. It was her professional opinion that our results were not concerning - I guess I'm angry that there is so little clear information and so much conflicting information about morphology out there and no one seems to really know what it means . It's so upsetting and confusing for both of us.

Our appointment is 2 March, I'm going to try and get a cancellation before though

kwick · 21/01/2017 10:11

harriet best of luck with showings.
I was not such a fan of Daniela - found her a bit irritating!! Some of the rooms in the show I really did not like - I guess I do not have refined taste!!! Was it just me though or was this years series a lot shorter than last years?

Kathrino · 21/01/2017 10:22

I'm sorry Jam, I think trying to get a cancellation is a good idea otherwise you'll just spend the next 5 weeks torturing yourself Flowers

Good luck with the viewing harriet!

Pyjamas, LSFX for fertile week. We also struggle to find enthusiasm at other times of the month so I know what you mean about needing to flush everything through.

So sorry for the BFN wine, I hope you enjoy your birthday evening out. Is your birthday today? If so, happy birthday!

Londonjam · 21/01/2017 10:40

So sorry to obsess over this but we've just sat down and looked at his results again and realised that 60m was per millilitre. There were 5 ml giving a total count of 300m which is really high. Feeling a bit more positive as at least we are working with a high volume. If we're having sex daily in fw that is a huge amount of swimmers. Come on now please!!!

Peaches8Posies · 21/01/2017 10:47

Apologies, I have tried to post several times since last night and nothing would upload! Angry

Absolutely freezing here brrrrrrrrr BrewBrew

harriet the studies were based around investigating why females have orgasms. Mens obviously are to procreate but it has always been assumed females are purely for pleasure. But now they know they act as an aid to conception. Better to have one than not Grin. And the lubricant we create helps assist the sperm travels too.

pyjamas sorry it was painful but fx you are one of the lucky ones who sees the benefits quickly Smile get dtd asap.

Thanks for the list kwick its dairy that I'm poor with. I'm not a big fan and it doesn't agree with me that much. Trying to add some good yogurt in to my diet.

jam in not very clued up on these numbers (yet) but why did your gp lie!!! Too many rubbish gp stories on this thread!! Get your consultant on to this when you visit. They will know loads more about the best way forward. There is still loads you can do and help you can get don't get disheartened xFlowers

alexia you will get there don't panic. They say getting pregnant is the biguest hurdle issues after that they can deal with. Fx they are on the right path and your lining is getting the help it needs. XFlowers

hep ouch Sad glad you're OK.

Binkybunny13 · 21/01/2017 10:55

Hi all! Another long catch up one from me I'm afraid!

Sorry I thought I'd replied yesterday- pyjamas great that your tubes looked ok, hopefully they've cleared some debris and that BFP is just around he corner! Good luck with DTD today! And skipper- it's so nice to see you back and glad you're feeling good 😊

Also, mons pubis 😂😂😂 And star, that's got to be our theme tune now I think!

Nice to hear from you music and great news about the lego man! It gives me hope when our grads update us, hopefully we'll be joining you soon

Harriet I do the same with orgasm! Sometimes we manage the same time but I don't want to risk missing out by losing it 😂
And interesting tactic kathrino with the face poking, I might have to borrow that!

Really sorry london re: the results. The uncertainty is so hard- I hope you manage to get a cancellation and it puts your mind at rest. Excellent swimmer numbers though! Hope you get some clarification and a plan soon Flowers

Kwick I hope you're just being silly and worrying for nothing Flowers PMA

Sorry about your man gimble- thinking of you x

Oh no to falling over hep, are you ok?

Hope your new meds are helping your lining get really juicy alexia. LSFX!

EJ at least there's some good to have come from AF! I love home stuff too, it's a very good distraction from TTC- and those changes will mean you'll be ready for easy cleaning and laundry when you have your little one!

Thanks skipper/ jam for the list- I think I'm going to pick 10th Feb as my date (that would be a 35 day cycle, but with the weird recent goings-on that is just a guess!)

I'm on CD15 today but have been feeling squiffy almost the whole of this cycle. Kind of low level nausea and rumbling tummy constantly, and intermittent left boob pain! Don't know if I'm sickening for something or if these are new fun pre-ovulation symptoms or something! This bloody TTC lark is driving me mad..

Pyjamas81 · 21/01/2017 10:56

Thanks kwick - that does seem like a sensible approach. Definitely something I'll chat through both consultant and GP. And thanks for being so honest about how difficult IVF is - it must have been a devastating loss after coming so close.

Peaches8Posies · 21/01/2017 10:58

jam always remember that these results have been ok'd already. Stress is bad. I obsess so I understand were you come from. If I have a problem a need an answer and a fix. But sometimes it just doesn't happen that way especially when ttc.

Soo many times we have heard stories of people who have conceived after accepting it's never going to happen for them etc..... I really believe it's the stress that goes with coming to peace with something. I'm not great at this and I'm trying very hard to work on it but it is difficult. FlowersCakeBrewWineBiscuitSmile all round ladit's.

sk1pper · 21/01/2017 11:07

I will update the list with all those new comments - have no fear!

I've had my letter come through for my follow up appointment with the gynaecologist. I haven't even had the HSG yet. End of April, I guess they give it a few months to see if you get pregnant. Im having so much time off work for appointments and things ATM Sad

Binkybunny13 · 21/01/2017 11:15

Skipper Flowers Whilst frustrating, great that things are moving forwards. I hope that soon you're taking time off work to have scans of a little bean. Really rooting for you

Just been attacked by Tescos "baby event" in store and with a multi-page spread in their blooming freebie magazineAngry If Cheryl bloody tweedy/cole/versini whatever or binky made-in-Chelsea are in the news again today with their bumps I'm going back to bed!

Miranda234 · 21/01/2017 11:42

So sorry for your loss Gimble Flowers

Sorry you're having such a hard time Jam really hoping for you that you don't need answers and will get your BFP this cycle!

Sorry for your BFN pass

Wow hope you're ok hep, I can see myself doing that too, I'm always wobbling all over the place doing yoga Smile

sk1pper please could you update me to 17th Feb

I'm a bit frustrated today as my brother kindly booked my whole family on an amazing holiday to Florida then Costa Rica for October - I was hoping when he first talked about it that we would have a baby by then but it's not happened and now I'm going to have to say we can't do the Costa Rica bit because of Zika virus, I didn't realise you have to practice safe sex for 6 months after! Annoying also as my whole family will know that we're TTC which I didn't really want to happen. Oh well, looking to the positives, at least we can do the Florida bit Smile

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend Smile

passmethewine123 · 21/01/2017 12:07

Thanks for the well wishes everybody you guys area lovely bunch Smile

So sorry about your Gran Gimble Sad

And Jam well done for trying to keep PMA! 300m is a fantastic count so just keep DTD and like you say hopefully there'll be enough of the little fellas that one will crack it! Fx for you x

Miranda234 · 21/01/2017 12:15

Sorry ladies, please ignore my post about being annoyed at not being able to go on holiday, realise it makes me sound like a spoilt brat and isn't something I should be moaning about!! Smile

MouseLove · 21/01/2017 12:24

Miranda just wanted to point out. Zika is in Florida too. We were in Disney in August and a few weeks later they started offering bug spray at Disney hotels. Just double check the area you are visiting isn't at risk.

Just a little update from my scan this morning. We saw baby's heartbeat ❤️ and everything looks good. Measuring a little smaller at 5ish weeks but baby is so small at this stage they said not to worry. I have a little cyst but nothing to worry about. Sack looks perfect shape and measured 10mm. Baby is 2mm. I go back in 2 weeks for another scan but they said it was more so just to tick a box, doctor was happy for me to wait for my 12 weeks scan now.

Which means I possibly hung onto DH super sperm for a week. Yep. A week. We DTD quite early in the cycle and only 4x so anything is possible.

I emptied my bladder just as they called my name. I have seriously bad timing but I couldn't hold it any longer as I'd been sat for almost 2 hours by the time I was scanned. So I ended up having an internal scan too. That's when we saw baby and the flickering on screen. We're both so happy and relieved. Obviously hoping baby is growing well the next few weeks with me being on medication now too.

I'm so grateful for the support of you ladies, I just know this will happen for you all. This has been an emotional and long journey for us. Not just actually doing the deed but the physical changes and emotional torture over the last 3 years and if I'm honest it didn't feel real until today. Keep strong. Keep focused. Never give up. X

kwick · 21/01/2017 12:40

jam 300 million???? None if my magic potion has even come close!!!

mouselove such good news!!!! I am so happy!!!
I cannot believe though they were not doing an internal scan to start with!!!

Miranda234 · 21/01/2017 12:41

Ah that's such great news mouse so glad everything is ok, must be a huge relief Smile

Pyjamas81 · 21/01/2017 12:46

Such great news Mouse!!!

MouseLove · 21/01/2017 12:53

Thank you.
Kwick she had a good look bless her. She could see sack but not baby. Said it was signs of early pregnancy. The internal gave her everything she needed. I'm measuring probably a bit smaller than expected but doctor is happy so I'm happy. It just means it's possible the impossible has happened and sperm lasted a week! It's 6 weeks exactly since my last fertile DTD session. So entirely possible. So, never trust the boobs, and never trust the OPK either!!
