HI all...just a quick question; how long after you m/c will it take for the HCG to get back to zero? The reason that I ask is because I had my m/c two months ago on this fri. I have been doing my BBT since last month and since I have ov this month my temp spiked (when I ov) then dropped dramatically , and now it has remained exactly the same for five days now. I have done a few tests and they show a very faint pos...very faint....and thats why I am wondering if it could just be left over from my m/c. Any help would be great!!! Thanks all!

HCG should have gone straight away i think...you only have it when you are pregnant. its the other hormones that take a while to 'sort out' good luck x x

I think it takes a while for the pregnancy hormones to leave your body, but I have no idea how long.

The best thing you can do is test tomorrow and the next day (poundland do good tests 2 for £1) and see if the test lines get any darker.

Fingers crossed for you...

The hormones stay in the body for a little while - I still got a faint positive 2 weeks after my m/c, but they would almost certainly be gone 2 months later. Have you had a period since? This sounds really promising melliek - best of luck.

Well, i've had one full cycle and this would make my second. I have been spotting today with cramps so I am almost certain that its left over hormone...but I am almost releaved anyway. I don't want to get preggers again until the doc finds out whats wrong with me. I went for my first blood tests yesterday so I am hopeful that he will find an answer!!
I am really surprised though that the hormone could still be in my system 8 weeks later...very surprised! Thank you all for your resposes though!!

Melliek - i'm pretty certain they would have gone by now. I say that because when i've hcg injections for ivf you have to leave it 2 weeks to test in case you have a false positive. I would think 99.99% that you are pregnant. I hope so - best of luck! We had m/c at the same time and I start ivf again this Friday, fingers crossed!

Melliek

Any news?????

melliek · 28/06/2004 16:57

Well...had AF after a 24 day cy and it was the heaviest that I have ever had. I think I had a m/c because of the large clots and bad pain that I had along with it. I swear I thought I was hemoraging I bled so much! So...the moral of this story is dont get preggers right away after a d&c....my body was not ready for this in any way. I still feel like something is not right inside now and i've been finished my AF for 5 days now. Oh well, better luck next time. I'll be glad to get my test results back from my doc anyway to see if it shows something. Thanks for thinking about me! Mabey next time i'll have better news!

Melliek, it's probably no consolation but I had horrendous periods for 2 months after my 1st m/c and subsequent ERPC (similar to d & c). Excrutiating pain and really heavy blood loss. It was so bad at one point that my GP gave me some tablets to help improve things but I ended up not taking them as my periods returned to normal after the 2nd month. I'm not saying that they'll be that bad for you, just trying to say that that's what happened to me so assume it's normal and not necessarily another m/c. take care x
