40 and TTC - how long did it take you?

We have been trying for 13 months without success. I was 40 last July. Interested in how long it took other posters of the same ages to conceive.

I have

Conceived ds at 42 on the third month . Have been ttc again at 45 and had 3 chemicals and a mc at 8 weeks. . Think that's me done now. .

Sorry posted too soon.... I have no children and was told 6 months before tests at 39.

Are you ladies waiting to go to docs or attempting to naturally ttc.

Hi Sammy, I went to doc after 6 months.

Some (probably most) NHS trusts don't fund any tests after 40 so it might be worth you getting a few done privately. They are not expensive and much quicker privately. Blood tests can check you're ovulating and how close you are to menopause.

Moira, sorry to hear that. You know what they say about giving up though don't you?

I conceived around the time of my 40th birthday after trying for 7 months, baby is due in 7 weeks. Previous to that we had tried for 2 & half years, got pregnant but sadly miscarried. In the time we were trying I had been for tests & they couldn't find anything wrong. At the age of 38 my doctor said there was nothing more they could do, it was down to my age, & I've conceived twice since then!
