Struggling to conceive - GP appointment - what to expect?

Hope you have all had a good Christmas!

Can anyone tell me what to expect following a GP appointment when struggling to conceive. My Christmas present was AF and so feeling extremely peed off today after yet another month of actually believing that this might be the month due to a million symptoms! Had a miscarriage last January with no hint of getting pregnant since. Prior to that we've been trying to conceive for around 20 months but not all in one go. I'm feeling really depressed at the moment, made all the more difficult with a newborn in our immediate family. Feeling like my pregnancy was a fluke!

Can anyone tell me what I could expect from a GP appointment? What would be the first tests I can expect. Thanks

The usual first step is to arrange blood tests to check hormone levels on days 3 and 21 of your cycle. Maybe also an ultrasound to check everything looks ok. They should also arrange for your partner to have a semen analysis done. Good luck!

As above but in my area you will need chlamydia test and up to date smear before referral to fertility clinic and definitely the ultrasound. Good luck.

Thanks familyof3or4. Feeling really nervous about it but at 34 I can't put a visit off any longer, it may at least put my mind at rest

All seems to have been covered here. Day 8-9 bloods are also something they cover where I am, plus they may check your rubella immunity. Whether your cycles are regular or not may affect what tests they do. My GP also offered lifestyle advice (in terms of diet), which was done in a very sensitive manner. She also took a very thorough history of how long we'd been trying to conceive, what birth control we'd been using prior to TTC, and whether we'd had any chemical pregnancies, miscarriages etc.
