TTC - Going for tests

Hello Everyone,

Its my first time on here and wanted to say hi.

Myself and hubby have been ttc for 3 years now and have not had any luck so far. Not even close to a positive test. Went to see doc last week and he has sent me for the day 21 blood test which falls tomorrow. I just wanted to ask what other tests or procedures are there that I can expect? thanks xx

The test you're going for tomorrow is to check your progesterone to see if you have ovulated this cycle.

They may also want to do another blood test at around day 2-5 of your cycle, which will look at your baseline hormone levels, and possibly things like thyroid and prolactin (depending upon whether or not your cycle is regular).

Your hubby should be asked to do a semen analysis as well.

These tend to be the original tests that they do, but depending upon the results they may also want to do a pelvic ultrasound. If they end up referring you to a fertility clinic (which after 3 years ttc they are likely to do even if all of the original tests are normal), then you'll have more specialised tests to look at your tubes and ovarian reserve.

Thank you very much for your response. I am just waiting the week out to see if test results are ready then will call docs.

Hubby is going to make an appointment with them too.

Can I just ask, the fertility specialist that I will be referred to, is this on the NHS or would we have to pay privately?
