Who's tried to get pregnant in their 40's and what has been your experience good & bad. How long did it take for you to conceive or did it not happen for you? I'm just trying to gauge my chances, have been trying for 6 months already...

We started to try when I was 41. I had an early miscarriage after 5 months and nothing for the next 6. Did IUI and no joy, eventually conceived our son after 2 rounds of IVF. He was born 5 days after my 43rd birthday. A dye test showed one of my tubes was blocked but the main issue was just poor egg quality. Shocked me as I felt very youthful.

However I know of lots of women who had no problems at all conceiving naturally in their 40s. Good luck.

Conceived fairly quickly at 39, 40 and 42. First ended in mmc at 7/8 weeks, second resulted in DD, third - the embryo doesn't appear to be growing properly at 9 weeks, so just waiting to miscarry.

I think my main issue is egg quality tbh, as I am lucky enough to conceive easily. Still hoping to have a sibling for DD, but being realistic about my chances.

Good luck.
