Hello all. Since having a smear done in september my periods have became a lil irregular, im usually a 28day cycle, on for 5days. The length i bleed hasnt changed but my cycle can sometimes be 30days 32days... can this be the reason why im not ovulating? Tia.

A smear won't affect your periods, and if you are still having regular periods there's a good chance you are ovulating. Cycles can change for all sorts of reasons and sometimes no reason at all. Mine have ranged from 25 to 33 days since coming off the pill in Feb 2015.

If your still having period then your are still ovulating. Im usually a 28 day cycle but every now and then it will change to 30 days then go back to normal.

Thankyou for your replies, i havent ovulated for 4months now and had it confirmed by bloods on cd21 my doctor said i didnt ovulate but she isnt concerned. Im now a day late and actually quite calm cause this keeps happening now. Just wondering could it be linked together

Ah NOPE that's not true. Periods do not confirm ovulation. So you are right to think you might not be. And certainly the 21 day bloods would not lie. The only true way to make sure you're ovulating is a temp spike and a positive pregnancy or blood confirmation. OPKS are not even a confirmation but more so a suggestion.

I don't think a smear would alter your cycles but I suppose it could be possible. Have a word with your GP about possible drugs you could take to kick start ovulation again. I'm pretty sure there are a few. X

I didnt think periods were an indicator as to whether you ovulated or not. Im late on my period. My doctor said the test can lie if you ovulated later than the average woman, and if that was the case then id have to have more blood tests, i dont need any meds to help me ovulate as there is no reason why i shouldnt be ovulating. I think its down to stress about ttc as to why i havent ovulated but my period has been slightly irregular for a few months now, all im getting is pains on the left hand side of what i would say is my womb, no cramps as of yet. Im just really confused.

You need to be tested again. A day 21 test won't show you've ovulated if your cycle is 32 days. Start monitoring your bbt for the most accurate way of confirming ovulation.

My cycle was usually 28 days but seems to be more 30 for the last few months x i hste periods lol

Should i go back and ask for a second opinion? She didnt even tell me how high my scores were

I would ask for the test to be repeated. I really recommend monitoring your bbt to confirm ovulation. It's more accurate than the bloods.

Given that you said you've had cycles as long as 32 days I would wait it out.
