Suspected implantation symptoms - please advise

Hi all, I'm desperately in need of some advice and comfort, I've been ttc for the first time for the last 3 months (I'm 26). 3 days ago, about a week before my period is due, I noticed very light spotting, it's mostly only when I wipe, and now some tiny clots, slight cramping, sore breasts. I'm still lightly spotting, i've never experienced this before and it definitely feels unusual, now I've noticed a bit of an ache in my lower left abdomen, most of all when I cough or breath in a deep breath. I took a preg test today and it was negative, but I really feel something is different. Googling this has brought back a whole load of results on ectopics and early miscarriages, and now I feel so anxious and worried. This morning I thought I must be pregnant and experiencing implantation spotting, now I feel scared something is wrong, can anyone please give me any advice? I feel like I should wait a week or so before seeing a doc as it's so early on, but I could really do with some guidance on what is possibly going on. Thanks so much.

Hello Jars! Stay away from Dr Google - he's not your friend! He diagnosed me with an array of fatal illnesses before I decided I no longer require his services! At lot of this will depend on what type of contraception you were using before ttc. For example, if you've just come off the pill it could be your body "resetting". What you describe could also be implantation bleeding. All you can really do is, if the ache in your abdomen gets worse and you feel unwell you need to see a gp. Pregnancy tests, although there are those sensitive tests that can pick up results before af is due, are normally only effective after your af is due and even then it can take a few goes! I know how scary all this is and ttc is generally very stressful anyway. Try to take one day at a time and take good care of yourself. Good luck and big hugs x

Thank you for replying Phoenix. I came off the pop pill in Feb so it's been 9 months, and it's always been regular 28-32 day cycle, never had mid cycle spotting, and this spotting is quite different in colour, very pale brown with a bit of pink. It's just hard to know when to wait it out and at what point to see a gp :/

I don't want to get your hopes up, but it does sound like it could be implantation bleeding. Forgive me if you already know this, but what happens is, the fertilised egg kind of burrows into the lining of your womb and in doing so some of it is kind of shed. I will allow you to Google symptons of implantation bleeding, no Dr Google though 😂 I would only visit your gp if you feel ill with it and if/when you get your bfp so you can be refered to the midwife. Good luck!

Thanks again Phoenix, I feel slightly better that you don't think the abdo pain is too worrying, that was freaking me out the most, I'm lying on my side now and I only feel an achey pinch when I cough, I have a persistent cough atm :s
I'll test again in a few days and try to stay positive.

You've just got to wait and see. Ttc can do crazy stuff to you, believe me! I think it's the stress plus you also notice things that you didn't before.
That said it does sound a lot like implantation, I was really surprised at how much I did cramp early on.
If you get severe pain then seek medical advice pronto as it could be ectopic but is unlikely.
It's probably to early to know for sure, test again in a few days and try and relax!

MouseLove · 11/12/2016 12:31

Sending massive hugs. I can tell you've got yourself into a tizz. Try to relax. Take another test next weekend. If it's still negative it was probably just something and nothing. In order for you to be losing a pregnancy you need a positive and then a negative. I think it could be implantation, as rare as that actually is. Fx. X

Scaredofthecity and mouselove thank you so much for the advice and comfort, it helps so much to not feel alone in this, I have told hubby of course but he's just as worried as me bless him. 4th day of spotting now, a bit redder than before but still no flow. Trying really hard to knock the anxiety on its head till there's any real reason to worry. Again, I appreciate the comforting words so so so much x

Oh man, I'm not doing a good job of staying chilled. Now every time I've gone for a wee I've wiped watery red blood, and a few drops of bright red into the loo. This doesn't seem consistent with implantation bleed, still no severe cramps though.. Still nothing to worry about?

Jars, I think it's probably AF. So sorry. The same thing happened to me last cycle. I made it to CD23. Lots of ladies here spot for several days before AF. Sad

Jars11 · 11/12/2016 20:18

Gosh, so disappointing. I've got really sharp pain down there now, esp after wees. I feel so strange. Appreciate your reply.

Lots of CakeBrewChocolate Hun. Really hope it's not AF, but keep us posted. Hugs. X

Aw hugs love I had this last month, we are on month 6 of ttc #2, my cycle is usually 31 days but I started on day 26, I thought it was implantation bleeding ( google info) had brown blood, pain in side thought Smile but the blood got redder only lasted a day then stopped. Negative test so assumed it was my period.

Phoenix76 · 11/12/2016 21:25

Jars we're all here with you 💐 Ttc is a roller coaster of a journey, one you can't get off! If it is af early, maybe it's your body re-adjusting somehow, like it knows your trying to get pregnant. This happened to me and I really thought, this is it, I'm pregnant finally but then came af 😢 but interestingly, the next month I did get pregnant. It took me well over a year to get pregnant. If it isn't to be this month, focus on what you can do. Keep taking your folic acid, dtd 2-3 days regardless of cycle. Keep talking about how you're feeling x

Jars11 · 11/12/2016 21:36

You guys, thank you so much, i can't tell you how much it helps to hear your thoughts and kind words. I'll try to flush the negativity away, and hopefully i can get past this x

Morning jars,

I hope you're feeling better today. Just a thought as I was reading your post. You said the pain is worse when you wee. You couldn't have a urine infection could you?

I had one last week and was peeing blood - it started with pain when I had a wee.

Excuse me if I'm way off the mark but thought it worth mentioning. I truly hope you get your BFP soon xx

Jars11 · 12/12/2016 08:40

Morning rock, thanks for your thoughts, i've had a uti before and the pain was different and more intense. I may be wrong, but the flow has increased even more now and with the stabbing pain feels like a bad period, the blood is so weird though, much redder and stringier. On paper it should just be af but i still feel something is different, i don't know why. Thank you for your thoughts x

Are you coming off any type of birth control? It sounds like you might have lost a mucus plug or similar. Totally normal if you've been on the pill for a while. If not then it could be an extended period which is why it's painful and you had all those days spotting. Pain when weeing certainly points to an infection rather than any kind of pregnancy loss (which I think you are thinking it could be - you would also have had a positive test has the hormone would still be in your system) x CakeFlowersChocolate

Jars11 · 12/12/2016 12:23

I was on the pill for 6 years, i came off it 10 months ago though, and right away went on to have a regular period every month, probably why i'm so anxious about any slight change. You're right i can't be losing anything if the test was never positive. Even with this heavier flow i still want to think i'm pregnant but i guess that's wishful thinking and very normal, i never thought ttc would make you lose your head so much.. Thx mouselove for your continued support, really helping me to stay balanced x
