Hi all,

Am after some advice please - Currently 'Trying' to conceive baby no 2. Oldest is 4 and we haven't used contraception since so starting go get a little worried. I wasn't thinking about it much before however now we are actively trying (whatever that means!!) i am thinking something may be wrong.

So , first month using the Ovulation sticks, got a little excited when it was 2 dark lines, so quickly DTD that night (Hubby couldn't believe his luck) my questions is though was i too late? are you meant to do it before the 2 lines or what? Sorry for being a complete novice at this just not sure who to ask!

It is confusing!

I would start by reading "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and also start temping. Kindara is an excellent app for that!

You'll be in a much better place to know when to DTD and to understand if you're ovulating every cycle.

Best of luck!

When you get the positive ovulation test you will ovulate 12-72 hours later so you weren't too late. The tests are a good indication that you are ovulating but they don't confirm it. For example my body geared up for ovulation with all the usual signs (cramps and ewcm) last week. I didn't ovulate when I was supposed to on Thursday though. I didn't know until I started with ewcm and cramps yesterday. I'm ovulating today I reckon. Typical it's the only month I've not done any testing.

As PP said its best to use ov tests together with tracking symptoms of ovulation - ewcm, ov pain. If you really want to know that you are definitely ovulating then tracking your base temperature is the only way. I didn't bother getting that far though - the sticks and symptoms did it for me.
