Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

Now without further ado, let's continue on our journey.......

Fingers crossed satsooma! According to my app I'm 2dpo on a non medicated cycle. Who knows what's going on but will start provera and clomid again in march.

SLady · 16/02/2017 15:49

Excellent news satsooma! Fingers crossed this is your month!

elizabeth i think that if you ovulate you will definitely have a period that follows (unless you're pregnant). Technically you can ovulate without periods as you can ovulate at any time - so, you could not have a period for 3 months and then ovulate. (Then your period would come 2 weeks later). If that makes sense

SummerHopin · 16/02/2017 17:11

Ladies I have to share - I've just been to the loo and I have a natural AF!

This is big news for me as I havent had a natural one since about Sept / Oct 2016! I had a Provera induced one after that and have been on Metformin since but have been so low lately as it just didnt seem to be doing anything.

It means that when I had all that crazy EWCM the other week I guess maybe I did ovulate? It was the first time in ages that I had had the EWCM and so to then get a proper bleed after it must be.

This means that maybe something is happening! I know that it clearly means that we didnt catch the egg if I did ovulate but I feel really positive that something has happened naturally (well, kind of naturally as obvs I am on Metformin).

In order for me to have my HyCoSy scan I have to be X days after a bleed and had been considering getting Provera to bring one on - but now I have an actual AF it means things can move on now and I can get that booked in. I wasnt very keen on the idea of another provera bleed but now I dont need to. For once my body has done something right (ish!)

ElizabethCatherine · 16/02/2017 20:39

@SLady thanks for that! Makes sense now.

Great news @summerhopin :)

danigrace · 16/02/2017 20:46

Slday I do think it made a difference because I was temping etc. and just had a rocky mountain typical pcos chart but after 2-3 months doing everything, whilst I still didn't ov, my chart was evening out with much more consistent temps, I then started getting much more ewcm around one specific time of the month rather than random patches, and then eventually I ovulated and had a period 2 weeks later. I then had a break from everything (was going to have a cycle off) and everything went completely messed up again. With a nudge from these ladies I got back on my regime then had a natural period without ovulating 3 weeks after rebooting, then the next cycle ovulated and got my bfp. So whilst it was all a slow burner I feel it was def working over time bc of the slow steady positive changes in my temp chart & ewcm eventually accumulating in reliable ov (albeit induced by what I was taking etc.). I also have a sweet tooth and quitting sugar was way harder than quitting smoking (had the worlds worst migraine for over a week and was a moody psycho) but once I was out the other end I stopped craving it and didn't feel deprived at all and honestly wasn't bothered by the things I used to looove, felt like I was broken lol.

Awesome opk Summer fingers crossed for you!!

Big hugs to you Boggle

SLady · 17/02/2017 07:58

Thanks danigrace it's good to hear your positive experience with it. I guess being healthier and cutting out refined sugar can never be a bad thing. Even if it didn't help my PCOS it'd still be good for my general health.

That's great news summer you must feel so pleased. Great news you can now move forward with things too. Let us know how you get on with your hycosy

satsoooma · 17/02/2017 14:46

Just for comparison, I am posting today's negative OPK (left) next to yesterday's positive (right).

Even though there is a strong test line on today's test, the control line is darker (so it is a negative result). This is exactly the sort of result that I got every cycle when I was not ovulating. It is really easy to convince yourself that it counts as a positive result though, just because the line on the left is strong.

I don't know if that is at all helpful for anyone thinking of using OPKs, but it is something that confused me. It wasn't until I started Clomid and saw a real positive result that I realised I had probably never been ovulating at all.

@SLady I spoke with Madeline Shaw - She said she has loads of posts coming about her pregnancy including books she loves that helped :) So keep an eye out on her blog. She saw a reflexologist named Gemma at Body Flow who also says that reflexology helped! Xx

I actually just got a book off Amazon called Woman Code by Alissa Vitti that I'm super excited to read - I've heard good things about this book for anyone looking for a good read. X

satsoooma · 17/02/2017 15:23

Just been catching up on posts. Welcome to all the newbies!

That is great news about AF Summer, it is so nice when things start working without every little thing having to be chemically jump started isn't it?

How was your first round of clomid Changing - did you get any side effects?

I am jealous that you have a dog Fluffy. We don’t even have that (landlord won’t allow pets). I think I’d feel more like a family if we had a dog, even if babies aren’t possible just yet. got my fingers crossed for your last round of clomid.

Would you recommend the counselling Boggle? Was it any help? Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t just feel worse. As you say, it means admitting something is wrong. Hope you are feelign better. Flowers

Nice to hear from you Dani, hope everything is going well for you.

I’ve been thinking a lot about diet recently as well. I got down to a healthy BMI in time for my fertility clinic appointment, but have put on more than a stone since then, so I am squarely in the overweight category. I really think that all these pills (metformin, then clomid and provera) are somewhat to blame. My hormones and appetites are all over the place. I'm mad at myself for putting on weight though, I know it does not make for a healthy pregnancy.

Rufus200 · 17/02/2017 15:25

summer yeah for your AF
satsooma yeah for your opk

I'm very teary. I'm putting it down to the Clomid. I have vague recollections of this last time but as I didn't have DS to look after it didn't matter. Expecting AF on Monday and start another round of 50mg, which might not work again. I will be so pissed off if I waste another cycle and go through all the side effects for no fcking ovulation. I'm breaking out in spots which shows my PCOS is ramping up, hair is so greasy as well.

SummerHopin · 17/02/2017 16:32

Thanks ladies. All booked in for the HyCoSy at the end of the month so actually feeling like I can breathe for a couple of weeks now.

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit up and down Rufus. Am with you on the spots - I have more now than I ever remember having as a teenager. I also am having to change my whole hair wash routine as now it seems to go from greasy to lank to dry to flaky to greasy - with no pattern! Every day I have to be ready to spend time making myself look normal - and at my age I should definitely be past the greasy hair / spotty part of life!

Sat your OPK is darker than any of mine ever were - although I too now think I wasnt even ovulating when I thought I was so have completely stopped using them now. Good luck to you!

Back on the subject of Myo-Inositol - does anyone know if you can take it WITH Metformin? They do different things and lots of people seem to talk about taking them together but I dont know if its something you need to have cleared with a doc first? I'm not sure how many of you ladies are on Metformin? Anyone got any ideas there?

Rufus200 · 17/02/2017 16:51

summer yes you can take inositol and metformin together. I took inositol throughout my pregnancy to try and reduce chance of gestational diabetes but I still got it and my Dr put me on metformin knowing I was on inositol.

Just for reference Inositol is completely safe in pregnancy and is being used in a study for spina bifidia to see if is reduces the risk in women who have previously had pregnancies with spina bifidia.

SummerHopin · 17/02/2017 17:29

Thanks for that Rufus. I had best get onto Amazon this evening then!
Smile

YouBoggleMyMind · 17/02/2017 18:35

Satsooma counselling is ok. It's hard facing up to various issues which make what we're going through harder. Talked about my anxiety today. Feeling a bit bruised emotionally but we're ordering a take out and watching a movie and enjoying Mr and Mrs Boggle time.

satsoooma · 17/02/2017 19:21

Aww, that sounds lovely. Enjoy your Boggle time!

Rufus200 · 18/02/2017 09:41

🙈🙊🙈

12PO, didn't think I ovulated and Dr thought follicles were far too small to become mature at scan. No symptoms at all, with DS I felt like my boobs had been punched 20 times

NeverGoOutOfStyle · 18/02/2017 18:53

Congratulations!

satsoooma · 20/02/2017 07:51

Congratulations Rufus! That is amazing news.

satsoooma · 20/02/2017 14:57

I am officially in the 2ww now. Totally on edge about this cycle. Just want to sleep through the entire 2ww and wake up when it is time to take a test.

YouBoggleMyMind · 20/02/2017 16:42

Fingers crossed satsooma. Dunno if over ovulated but according to my app I'm 6dpo. Doubt that's true though! X

YouBoggleMyMind · 20/02/2017 16:42

I've*

satsoooma · 20/02/2017 18:55

Thanks Boggle. Are you still taking a break from things? x

FluffyEwok · 20/02/2017 19:38

Congrats Rufus xx
Hi everyone I've stopped being a nutter. Got my first ivf appt a week today so looks like we're going down that route. I'm in the mindset of if it works it works if it doesn't that's life I won't be the first

YouBoggleMyMind · 20/02/2017 19:59

Enjoying a non medicated cycle and will start my last round of clomid in march some time. Still going to counselling, got my 3rd session next Wednesday.

Good luck Fluffy, I hope it works for you.
