Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

Hi all, I've had a break for a bit whilst I waited for AF to come after Provera. Started today at 5.30 pm so guessing I take Clomid on Sunday eve? Sorry for the stupid question, it's just my first round.

NeverGoOutOfStyle · 10/02/2017 22:21

@fluffy no. You're totally allowed to feel this way. it's not fair, of course they'll love their child etc and hopefully they are happy together, but when you feel like you have so much to offer but everyone else seems to get pregnant so much easier, it feels like a real kick. So many of our friends and aquantiences seem to have gotten pregnant recently or even had babies recently that it's really getting us down too. We should be holding our baby this month, but we're not and instead we're still trying and it feels like it's going to go on forever, we just have to hope it won't.

Sorry. That was long. You're not a bad person. You're allowed to feel like that, definitely.

FluffyEwok · 10/02/2017 22:24

Thank god i have my dog lol. Family dont know and friends who do know arent interested but they have their own lives.

Iamchanging · 10/02/2017 22:25

So sorry never and Fluffy that you are struggling so much at the moment. It's a real rollercoaster of positive thoughts followed by crashing lows...

FluffyEwok · 10/02/2017 23:12

Yep i actually have little to show for nearly 31 years on this earth. I wish id tried years ago im too old now and im starting to bloody look old from the stress.

Iamchanging · 10/02/2017 23:19

You're not too old, I'm 31 as well so we are at the same stage together x

FluffyEwok · 11/02/2017 00:40

I feel like i cant ever see anyone who is likely to tell me theyre pregnant ever again. Im going to have to buy this baby a present and go to the Christening the thought turns my stomach

Rufus200 · 11/02/2017 19:09

iamchanging I took Clomid this cycle, I took it at night as recommended for reduction in symptoms. I had major insomnia and hot flushes. I can tell you I would much rather have the symptoms during the daytime then at night. If I have to take again I will be taking in the morning. I take day2-6

fluffy I have DS but I still nearly cried sat in the waiting room for my follicle scan, next to a woman who was due any day. When I left there was a baby for its 6 week check. I had to go for an hrs walk after my poor sized follicles to pull myself together and buy lots of cake. I have to tell myself all the time that other people's fertility has no impact on my own. It still makes it hard and seeing babies and bumps is like a stabbing pain.

emsler · 13/02/2017 09:39

Hi ladies, another newbie here.
Name: emsler
Age: 32
TTC: #1 for over a year - had a MMC in October 2016 at 11.5 weeks
Diagnosis: PCOS
Treatments: None - because my cycles are fairly regular and I conceived naturally once, GP is reluctant to treat. But I had a large cyst removed surgically at 16 which damaged one of my ovaries so I'm concerned ovulation is impacted.
Next milestone: Currently in the 2ww, AF due 21st Feb.
Location: Northern Ireland

Hi all, feeling really down at the moment. Just been back to my doctors as I have had all tests done bar CD2-5 blood test as I'm still waiting for AF. She said she will refer me but it's most likely it will be rejected. She said she understands why I'm impatient but that TTC is going to take its toll and it's unfair but I need to get used to people dictating what happens next. Just hit home really how shit this situation is. I asked if she could give me something to induce my period and she gave me Norethisterone and said to take 7-10 days and then stop which should induce a period. Has anyone taken this before?

Hello Newbies!

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/02/2017 10:33

Sorry you're feeling down. It is hard work, all the time.
I think what you've been prescribed is very similar to provera, just another type of drug. At least you can get your day 2-5 bloods done once AF comes.

SLady · 13/02/2017 10:50

That's what the doctor said. Just hearing a GP say this is going to be shit and you've got to be strong and get used to it, this is only the beginning, really hit home :(

She said it will only work if my estrogen levels are high enough. I don't know whether to just be patient and wait for AF, if I take these tablets and they don't work my cycle could be even more messed up. I'm feeling so frustrated and down. I just want some positive news, my GP was so negative about the process I feel defeated before I've even begun!

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/02/2017 10:56

I think you should take it and see what happens. Let's look at the positives, you take the medication and it gives you AF and then you can get your bloods done, that then moves the whole process forward. Smile

SLady · 13/02/2017 11:01

Thanks boggle. I'll go and pick up my prescription later and go from there. My progesterone levels were on the floor and DH's SA was fine. Top marks for him, slap in the face for me. I know it's good news but still can't help feeling down.

For those wondering it is possible to get EWCM without ovulating as my blood tests have revealed! Disappointing.

Hopefullymumstheword · 13/02/2017 11:07

Has anyone here took vitex, maca root or inositol? I just started taking these and would like a buddy 😂, and i took norethisterone SLady i took it and got a period after 8 days but dr told me its not a real period or something x

SLady · 13/02/2017 11:10

How long did you take it for? My doctor said 10 days but I might get away with 7. She didn't say how long it would take for a bleed to happen after I stopped taking it though. Were there many side effects? I haven't taken any of those other supplements

Hopefullymumstheword · 13/02/2017 14:13

On my packet says to take for 7 days and i got my period on 8th day i didnt get any side effects at all, i thought i was going to cos i react to loads of medication lol have a look into them vitamins i listed they have some quite good reviews Grin x

Rufus200 · 13/02/2017 14:33

slady when did you last have AF? It is more then 3 months I would take the drug

hopefully I take inositol, it really helps me lose weight. I think everyone with PCOS should take it. See evidence in link

ElizabethCatherine · 13/02/2017 17:00

Hi everyone! I have just been diagnosed with PCOS and it was so hard finding out. I am hoping I can join in on the thread. I've been reading through these posts and the 2 old ones a bit, new to this app but trying to give it a go and look for support and to hear other people's stories and input. I've been TTC for 6 months now, I have had not 1 period, but have gone for an ultrasound which confirms I have cysts all over. Currently waiting to see an endocrinologist (does anyone know how long the wait list usually takes is?). I am at a very healthy weight now and have a good diet and exercise. In 2015/early 2016 I had bulimia and cannot help think this could have contributed to me having PCOS. It's something I am not proud of but have been very strong and over come it. Can anyone tell me what the next step with the endocrinologist might be? Thank you so much ladies x

ElizabethCatherine · 13/02/2017 17:10

Forgot to include my details sorry newbie!
Age: 27
Married
Location: London
TTC first child for 6 months now
Just diagnosed with PCOS
Not 1 period yet :(

SLady · 13/02/2017 22:40

rufus I am only on CD 39 so hasn't been too long. It's just the not knowing, it might not be here for another 5 weeks if my last cycle is anything to go by. Maybe I should wait a little longer. I wonder if it will affect the blood tests results if I do take it beforehand.

I will look into those hopefully especially this inositol. I don't take anything at the moment!

Hi Elizabeth it's awful finding out about pcos. So many women have it, it's nothing we've done. I think it depends on the area re wait times, maybe the hospital can give you an idea?

happybus28 · 14/02/2017 07:36

Update from me...had my ultrasound yesterday and the radiographer told me I don't have PCOS. She wouldn't say anymore just that the report will be sent to my GP but it isn't PCOS like GP thought and everything looked okay. Suppose I'll have to wait until my appointment with the gyne next week to find out more and why they think I have had no AF for 4 months!! Not sure how I feel really, glad everything looked okay but still frustrated that I don't know what is wrong with me.

ElizabethCatherine · 14/02/2017 10:45

@happybus28 hang in there, I know it's frustrating not knowing what's going on. I felt the same I just wanted answers and waiting is so hard. At least you have ruled out you don't have PCOS because it sucks and was so hard finding out that's what I have. But I'm glad I now have answers and know what I'm working with. Hopefully it's good news for you x

@hopefullymumstheword I've been taking maca for about a year! It is great for energy as well I have it in the afternoon before I go to the gym sometimes or just add it to my morning smoothies. I don't know if I noticed that much of a difference, but it's hard to say as I'm going through so many hormonal changes right now. My anxiety and depression is at an all time high with all of this PCOS and not being able to conceive. Since coming off birth control I feel I have been on the biggest emotional roller coaster of my life. Does anyone else suffer with depression and anxiety as a result from PCOS? At first I thought I was going crazy but I have read this is a side effect from having PCOS. I have started taking Ashwagandha - for about 1 month now. I do feel that this is helping for anyone looking at taking natural herbal things to help balance out our crazy hormonal changes xx

Hopefullymumstheword · 14/02/2017 13:06

Elizabeth I have bipolar they think its because of PCOS with the mood disorder side of things but cant say for definite, but since av been taking inositol powder and i feel much happy and as 'normal' what ever normal is haha x
