No personal experience, but I have a friend who had four caesarians. However; there was a good 6 year gap between the first and the final three, which were closer together and the gap was the reason she was allowed to have the three further electives.

I'm sure you would be discouraged from having a high number of operations - there are always risks, but you might like to search for articles such as this Finnish Study which suggests there may be no definative upper limit to the number you can have.

Give yourself a break, though! Your baby is only 8 weeks. Let the hormones settle and see if you're really sure.

Hi,

I have had three caesarians myself. Unfortunatley all emergencies and none smooth! had full labour each time.
My kids are 13, 10 (2 1/2 year gap) and then I have a 4 year old (6 year gap) this was because of bad health issues.
the scar tissue gets worse with each operation.
the Drs here in UK are loath to let you go for more. but for your interest, a Dr in Ireland who did research into this mentioned in a book I have that one mother had 6 kids followed by her first natural birth! So don't let the Drs decide something that should be your choice!
My last Dr was very angry when I wouldnt let him steralise me in the op! I was furious and so upset! I complained about him. Having had help in order to have kids if I had an accident and got pregnant alone I would be thrilled!!!!
Give yourself a break and settle in with your newest baby. you may find in a couple of mionths you are glad you wited but as for more in future? Go for it girl if you want to!!!

Best of luck!

Fiona

I've had three but I understand the 'only three sections' thing to be a myth. I was sick every time I was asked if I wanted to be sterilised during my third section - like spaying a cat!

However, sections do take longer to recover from and my body is knackered from having three close together. I don't intend to do it again b/c I struggled with my last pg and ended up in hospital.

In your situation I would set a target time - say when your baby is 9 mo or a yr - and see how you feel then. In the meantime enjoy your new baby and do all you can to keep well and healthy - your children will benefit and if you do decide to have another you'll be in good health to do so (unlike me who neglects herself .)

Apparently Ethel Kennedy had 11 children by caesarean - and that at a time when it wasn't as safe (perhaps the wrong word, but you know what I mean) as it is now.

Hiya I've had 3 sections so far and am pg with twins. My youngest is only 10 months old. My eldest is 5.2 and ds is 2.8 so not really huge gaps between each. I did find my last one harder to recover from though and am dreading the next one! I will def be getting sterilised this time. They tried to convince me to have it done last time but I refused and it made me really like they were saying "My God woman you've got enough kids already"!!

Someone in Ireland has had 13 CS's. I've only had 3! My ObGyn last time said that the more CS's you have the higher the risk of placenta praevia, which I did have on ds3.

you need to chat to zipper or whatever her name is, she has had loads of sections. I'll have a look see if I can find a thread of hers.

Kelly1978 · 02/03/2007 11:39

this was her birth announcement for no.7, all born by section, you could try catting her, I'm sure she wouldn't mind.
