Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Fertility stuff is all excluded on policy - checked that a few months ago. Hycosy is £400 at Create, maybe I'll keep that in my back pocket for after my pelvis scan..

Nicky883 · 18/11/2016 11:58

Thanks all i already know it but dh says i should call anw Hmm

sk1pper · 18/11/2016 12:15

If you can wangle it as not fertility related you should theoretically be able to get it through private. For example, I'm going to ty to be referred privately because of the excruiating periods in having. They will do an laparoscopy and hycosy for that...eventually. But it depends what historical background you have with your doc, a lot of my initial tests are analysing both the infertility and period trouble. And obviously the doc has to be on board to fight your corner.

With regards to temping, I'm actually thinking of giving this up. I've had three cycles of temping, it all looks fine to be honest so I really don't know if I need to keep doing it. I guess it may help them define a due date if I ever become pregnant. My temps post ovulation this cycle are bizarrre, normally they are up and down but they are constant and just above the base line. What does it mean? Probably will never know!

FXSkip · 18/11/2016 12:26

Nicky fx you get lucky!

Well ladies, it's Stat of the Day time! I am bored and came across a nice little gadget that determines your chance of conception per cycle for your age. It directly contradicts a number of other hypotheses though, so it is clearly not to be taken too seriously, but its based on the 20% per cycle rule - ie 1st cycle, age 35 = 10% chance. By 24th cycle this is up to 92% chance. So....this 'month' (wherever anyone is) we have an average chance of 65%, with those in their early days of trying least likely to conceive and those trying for over a year are on average 91% likely.

Means nothing major, just a fun way for me to waste time at work.

Sk1pper my temps have been all over the place, I've not had one consistent temperature since CD3, I'm now CD11. Most of the temps have been above last months coverline so I don't even know how FF is going to interpret that this month.

Londonjam · 18/11/2016 12:59

Fxskip how come your chances increase the longer you try? I thought it was 20-25% each cycle? Really hope it does become more likely!!

sk1pper · 18/11/2016 13:06

MrsG - I do sometimes wonder if the external temp effects it more than we think. For example, I've noticed if I take my temp straight away again, it's quite a bit different to the first one. But it will still be above the cover line and I assume that's the key thing..half the time I don't know what I'm looking at.

Nicky883 · 18/11/2016 13:21

Fx what gadget are you using ?:p

FXSkip · 18/11/2016 13:48

I don't know jam but I guess it's based on the probability of conceiving within 2 years being 99% roughly, so the closer you get to 2 years the higher the chances!

nicky it's on countdown to pregnancy, where I have another bbt/symptoms chart in case Fertility Friend and Ovia both miss my imminent upduffedness Grin

Hi Everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining your thread, you all seem lovely and supportive 😊

TTC #1
Age 29
Cycle 3 (I think!!)

I came off the pill on the 1st September having been on it for nearly 10 years so I'm not really sure what length my cycles are yet. The last one was 25 days. Even then when AF came I managed to convince myself that it was implantation bleeding because it was so light but it wasn't. I'm day 27 of current cycle waiting for AF to appear, really hate this part! Especially as I don't know what length my cycles are yet so trying to not get my hopes up! Trying not to symptom watch this time round (managed to convince myself last time that because our cat slept on my stomach one night it meant something 😂)

Hope you all have lovely weekends 😊

Londonjam · 18/11/2016 14:22

Fxskip that does make sense. I'm going with it!!

Welcome Miranda the cat on your tummy premonition sounds exactly the kind of thing I would think Smile

sk1pper · 18/11/2016 14:40

My cat sleeps on my head, what does that mean? Brainless? Grin

FXSkip · 18/11/2016 15:29

Welcome miranda - you're in good company here! we had an old-timer on here who's OH knew she was pregnant because she 'smelled different'

Nicky883 · 18/11/2016 15:51

Welcome mirand
Fx please continue with your statistics i am liking them so far

Skipper londonjem and anyone else that started tests . Do the nhs blood tests include TSH hormone test for thyroid ? I am not sure if its included in the day 3 to 5 ?
I will ask if not and demand it apperantly it affects conception

Londonjam · 18/11/2016 16:35

Nicky I think the thyroid test was requested on the 21 day bloods. They took two vials on that day and got a load of results back.

That said they did check my prolactin on both, so it's probably worth calling the practise and asking.

MrsG280516 · 18/11/2016 17:34

Well my OPK is still a very strong positive today which I'm happy about, tomorrow is CD12 and DH is being a champ about DTD. Bless him he's only had 4 hours sleep between night shifts and has just gone back off to work again. We are both feeling pretty determined this cycle!!

sk1pper · 18/11/2016 17:50

Nicky - no clue sorry. I had two vials done on day 3-5 though but just the one on day 20. My doctor didn't care to divulge what they were all for.

YouOweMeATenner · 18/11/2016 18:04

Hi all.
mrsg well done with all the BDing!
miranda welcome! We are stats twins, same age, same cycle Smile
mouse hope you're having a great time in Rome, would love to go! Such a romantic city Wink
star get a pic of your folder up, dying to see it!
Well wishes for everyone else!

I'm working my way through SMEP. Hasn't been too bad so far. Bit anxious about BDing 3 days in a row once I O. DP had testicular cancer a few years ago and had one of the boyos removed. I've these constant thoughts that he only has half the amount of swimmers as everyone else, and that BDing too much will cause them to run out. Illogical I know, doctors have told him that he can still produce a normal amount of sperm, but I'm still paranoid.

Tried pre-seed a few times too. I'm still trying to figure out the ideal amount. Things got a bit too slippery yesterday! Looks like I'm on course to O on Monday. We'll see how it goes :)

MrsG280516 · 18/11/2016 18:11

Woohoo go Tenner! We are doing SMEP too but CD10 became positive OPK day so gave done CD5,8,10,11 so far. I'm worried tomorrow might be a struggle but we're going to take it easy and have a bath and glass of wine.

Is anyone coming to the end of the 2ww and due to test? We need some more BFPs!

MouseLove · 18/11/2016 18:13

Evening ladies. Had a lovely day at the Vatican today!! It was really beautiful and I've just got back to the hotel (desperate for a wee) and got a positive OPK!!!! I'm now convinced my faint one yesterday was because I had drank too much and not waited long enough to get a good sample. Sooooo.... I don't have a clue really what that could mean. Is it normal to get 3 dark days??

I DTD on days 8, 11 & 13. Today is CD14 and so I had pretty dark lines on day 12 and today.

Excellent work mrsg and tenner
That picture is stunning mouse! Keep going wth the DTD

Love your folder starmist I hope your womble is taking note

I have a soft cups question. Penguin geeup I believe you use them? It's fw starting about now and I am planning to use soft cups around ovulation. Any tips on how to ahem get them in place? Do you squish them sideways to insert and then turn the cup upwards? I'm struggling to picture how this works...

MrsG280516 · 18/11/2016 18:21

Hi Mouse oh I loved that room in the Vatican, such an amazing ceiling.

I think it's normal to get them over a few days yeah, they're probably ever so slightly different each time. They should start to go back negative soon.
