Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Mouse - yep you're going to ovulate soon! Hope you've been BD like a mad woman.

MrsG - good luck with SMEP, it is exhausting. But if you're hiting most the days you're doing okay, it will be a strong cycle for you.

A girl I really like at work told me she was pregnant today. But I didn't over react, I had an inkling she was trying a couple of years ago so I casually asked her how long it took. Nearly 2 years! I didn't quite understand what the problem was but she had to have an MRI scan to find out what was wrong. I feel pretty chiffed for her, she welled up when she told me and I'm thinking "don't cry don't cry" because it just becomes too obvious you're TTC too when they're not a close friend or anything.

Skipper I've got a few colleagues who are trying / recently had babies. One has been trying a year, another took about 18 months. Another took 10 months with her first and 11 with her second. I really think it's so common to take a while. Doesn't make it much easier but it does make me worry a bit less that something's wrong with us.

FX Kwick!!!

Welcome Scottish

FXSkip AF is definitely here I'm afraid. Thanks for asking after me xx

Great news Jam!

Thanks so much for all your messages, they really helped Flowers

Mum & dad are on holiday at the moment. I texted mum earlier & said AF had arrived & I'd been feeling down. She text me to say I'm loved so much, not to give up hope & that it will happen. Then she sent me a photo of them both smiling & waving at me. It made me cry but it was so nice to cry happy tears.

I've identified some good points:

  • Next FW falls perfectly when DH has a week off work & I have some days off too.
  • At least I don't need to worry about what excuse to give for not drinking at the Christmas party.
  • I'm so relieved I've got the ball rolling re tests & didn't wait to see how I got on in this latest cycle before going to the doctors.

I too have a friend at work who is pregnant. Told me yesterday. 6 wks. Total suprise for her, not actively trying!

CD 17 today of cycle 2 and finally got a positive ovulation stick! Yay! Not sure I've had one before. Dtd 2 days ago and will go again tonight. Does anyone manage the 3 nights in a row 1 night off then another go as recommended by SMEP? Not sure DH will manage! Although he has recently become very interested in all of this ovulation lark and is really trying his best :)

Found out 2 amazeballs facts today:

  1. Magic potion lives up to 7 days in womble
  2. Womble (apart from bit attached to fanjo) is fully mobile - like ovaries and tubes!!!

mouse methinks you should be legs akimbo right about now Wink

fxskip well they charge even if they cancel and I think Dr thought it was worth a try!

kwick chants a la Honey G: You say "PM" I say "A"

Hiya moose!!! Test date is 2 December but I may not last out that long

jam I am SOOOOOOO pleased about your offer - this hoyse buying malarkey is nearly as stressful as TTC!
Can you believe I forgot about feet!!!! Will put hot water bottle on them as soon as home!!!

Ummm what does BD mean? Is it chukka-chukka?

Amazeballs PMA starmist!

miwelaisjacydo · 16/11/2016 18:45

Read this today made me smile. Hope it doesn't upset anybody.

Woman conceived twice on one cycle

WantingBaby1 · 16/11/2016 19:02

kwick BD is baby dance! (Aka DTD or good old fashioned sex)

Love the facts. I too read about the sperm sticking around for a whlie, but only in fertile conditions, so that CM has to be super stretchy.

Fingers crossed for you moose enjoy your holiday!

Made me smile too miw :)

London - its a real eye opener! We are all guilty of focusing on the people who have little or no difficulty TTC but it can be much harder than we are led to believe. I've learnt far more about the female reproductive organs that I really care too and its all for this. I think if I could have seen myself now two years ago, I would have laughed my head off.

Star - your parents sound lovely and supportive, is that what made you decide to tell them? Your positive points are brilliant, it's not the end of the world after all - life carries on and you'll get there eventually.

Kwick - chukka-chukka? What are you on Kwick? Grin Well, love potion I guess...!

Miw - wow that article is incredible, the husband's comments about a hole in one made me laugh.

sk1pper · 16/11/2016 20:02

Also, I'm not religious in anyway - honestly - I am a complete atheist but I do think some bits and pieces from the Bible are humbling in a down-to-earth way. For example, I've just stumbled on this passage which aptly goes with what I was just saying to London:

"We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

kwick · 16/11/2016 20:05

Very interesting miw - thanks for sharing!

Thanks wanting!

sk1pper I will have you know I have been off the sauce for well over a year!!

kwick · 16/11/2016 20:10

hep please can you put me down for 2 December!! I finally have a ticket again!!!!

Londonjam · 16/11/2016 21:03

Star you're doing well lovely Star your parents sounds so sweet! Yes getting the tests ball rolling is good - and hopefully we will get BFP before we need them Smile

Londonjam · 16/11/2016 21:04

Inspiring skipper Halo

So good to see you with a test date again kwick now for a sticky BFP everything crossed

MouseLove · 16/11/2016 21:15

Ladies. How soon after ovulation would an OPK go back to being faint? I've been having pains all day thinking nothing of it and taken another OPK just now and it's more like yesterday's. I've had a big drink this evening though. Would that effect it that much? The darker pic was today at 1pm.

MrsG280516 · 16/11/2016 21:31

It depends how quick your surge is really Mouse, some people surge within one day then the OPK starts to go negative again. If that's the case then you could ovulate overnight or tomorrow!

miwelaisjacydo · 17/11/2016 06:03

Mrs G your not Honey G by any chance?

EJ2009 · 17/11/2016 06:40

So girls ive finally come into the 21st century and got the fertility friend app on my phone. Itd most exciting. Can some help with cm definition. I have been having loads of dry chalky white stains in my underwear. Is that defined as dry in the mucus box or something else? ( wasnt sure if dry meant dried up and gone of dried onBlush )

sk1pper · 17/11/2016 07:30

EJ - others may have a better idea for you but I wouldn't go by what's stained your panties. Sorry to be crude but you really need to be sticking two fingers up there, then you can check the consistency too. Egg white will stretch between the two fingers.

EJ2009 · 17/11/2016 07:34

I do do the exploratory check leading up to my fertile time but this end of the cycle i dont bother. Maybe i should.

HepKestrel · 17/11/2016 08:52

LSFX kwick !!

sk1pper · 17/11/2016 09:21

How are you hep?

Londonjam · 17/11/2016 09:50

I have a confession Blush I feel really weird this week - light headed, like I'm coming down with something, emotional, funny tummy . Not usually like this after AF. Had a light 2 day bleed which is also unusual. Now I'm having a proper psychological pregnancy in my head HmmBlushConfused

But I really don't want to test as I hate hate hate BFN so much Sad

It's very unlikely I'm pregnant. I did bleed for two days and my boobs are fine, I'm not nauseous. I just need to GET A GRIP.

It's day 7 so in a few days will start OPK s again. Seeing the next LH surge should snap me out of it!

MrsG280516 · 17/11/2016 10:04

miwelaisjacydo LOL. Erm nope Grin

Musicgrrl · 17/11/2016 10:39

Ohh jam that's such a toughie! I can understand why you don't want to POAS but I'd be doing it if it were me just to know one way or another. Or just doing an OPK even! Ha. I have my FX doubly for you that you are!

Musicgrrl · 17/11/2016 10:43

Loving so much about this chat right now. Need to do a catch up.

I love hearing about people who have got their BFPs after months of trying. You did well not to cry skipper!

Thanks for all the stamina and preseed tips! I think it is pretty hard on our OHs having to perform on demand. I am going to be aiming for every other day over FW. Alexia your biological sperm info is amazing. Please never leave us!!

I am going to be more liberal with the preseed next time and use the applicator. Will hope it doesn't scare DH too much. He likes what it says on the packaging - 'for seriously fun baby making'!

This month I am glad I O late. Been travelling with work and out for many social events this week so wouldn't be able to LSFX. Can't wait for Friday night when I'll be coming home to bed (probably not like that!) Mouse I wish the sight of me naked was enough for DH to jump me! Hope you have a great hol.
