Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

I've bought some preseed but didn't use it this cycle. It feels awkward stopping everything to squeeze it inside. It says you can apply half hour before BD but I'm always worried OH won't be in the mood and I'll waste it.

Anyone care to share how to make the application less obvious and more sexy?

Skipper it's tricky. I kept preseed just for fertile week (only used once this cycle). DH would usually help me get the stuff in the applicator while we were lying in bed together and then he'd watch porn while I faffed around trying to get it in. There wasn't much 'sexy' in our bedroom just weird 'we want a baby' sex. Other times I just used Conceive+ on the outside (tried to push as much inside) when it was more spontaneous sex.

OPK experts. I think I got my first ever faint line. I'm also having EWCM!! Had 1 glob last wee last night and some more again today. Could I possibly be actually gearing up to ovulate????!!!!! No second line at all yesterday. CD11 today.

So....drum roll please.....we are, on average, 32 years old and have been trying for an average of 8 months.

Out of the 19 of us, 16 of us are statistically likely to get upduffed within 1 year of trying, another 2.5 of us within 2 years and the other 0.5 person with assistance. Turns out stats in a small group is kind of pointless. Solid waste of a half day at work.

Also found this interesting chart showing liklihood of conception when timing DTD - seems that 2 days prior to OV is the primetime.

AlexiaB I love that, I am going to incorporate capacitation and 'mature' sperm into my pre-dtd chat next cycle hurries off to practice purring capacitation seductively...

Also, no spreadsheet. It crashed my computer and I am too scared to ask IT to fix it. 2nd Day of new-job fail. I will reboot tonight and fx that I don't lose my job overnight.

Oooh Mouse if you can get to the Trevi late on an evening after food/drinks say 10-11pm ish, if you go to the front and take photos in front of the fountain then there'll probably be a guy or a few people who offer to take photos of you for tips. We never felt that comfortable asking someone else to take photos of the two of us but we took advantage of it on our last night. The guy had a polaroid camera and was trying to sell photos for 5 euro but we just gave him a few euros for taking photos on DH's phone. We have a lovely photo of us kissing in front of the fountain, its so pretty at night!

Looks like AF is finally starting to properly show herself. Am I right in thinking if AF starts in the evening, CD1 starts the next day?

I've ordered some opks. Never used them before as thought it would add to the stress (have just monitored cm for the past 5 cycles) but feel I need to try something different.

So sorry star I was kind of waiting for your BFP this time not sure why. It's not too late for it still.

I thought I was ok but I'm not. It's so unfair. I'm sick of thinking about TTC all the time. I wish we'd started years ago. I keep imagining what it'll be like to tell people I'm pregnant but it all seems pointless. I just don't feel like it's going to happen. Sorry for being down.

Sorry Star - we get you, I think we all say were okay when we're not really.

Only get the OPKs if youre sure you won't stress over them. Maybe try and nail down the day you ovulate and then only commit to using 4 or 5 a cycle after that if your cycles are regular. Xx

I know exactly how you feel hon it's so incredibly hard. Don't apologise for feeling low - it's heart wrenching and lots of us have been there too. Right now you feel hopeless and that's fine, take care of yourself and do what you need to do - speak to your oh or a friend or read your fave book watch your fave film - whatever you need to get through the next day or so. That's honestly how I felt just before AF - like I wanted to chuck the whole thing in. In a few days you willl feel better, I promise
