Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Starmist · 02/12/2016 21:34

Sorry Pug but at least you're out of limboland. Still very frustrating though, hope you're ok Flowers

Hep great idea!

Jam love that, thanks for sharing.

Londonjam · 02/12/2016 21:59

Sorry pug think I cross posted. Hope it's not AF but yes at least you are into the next cycle if so. That ovusense looks very high tech, great that you got it with a discount.

MouseLove · 02/12/2016 23:57

Sorry winging and pug. CakeWineFlowersChocolate

Forgot to add. My work place is pregnant lady free!! Yay. 3 have gone on maternity in the last month!! So I don't have to avoid eye contact with bumps anymore.

London I'm ok around babies now (I wasn't around 3 yrs ago) now it's a bump that really upsets me. I find myself judging the mother. It's a really bad habit. But a few months ago I was sat in costa with DH and a woman ordered in front of me, when she turned I could see her bump. She didn't get decaf and I have no idea why but it just made me anxious!! So bad of me. Blush

kavanaughkj · 03/12/2016 02:52

Heya ladies - should be in bed but reading here instead. DH snoring in the other room!

Skipper, so pleased you had good news from the doctor ... his description of your OH's sperm made me grin though. I can't imagine what kind of a peacock DH would be if he were told his sperm was 'incredible'! I can say that it doesn't appear to matter if you laugh out a bunch of sperm after the deed, though ... DH does that to me virtually every time we DTD with this month being no exception. I always did that lifting-your-bottom and legs thing after DTD as well but not sure how necessary that is ... DH used to plonk himself with his back to me so I could rest my legs on his back and give him a massage with my feet! Xmas Grin

I'm with you on the buses thing too. I could never get comfy in them, they gave me unrealistic expectations. Much better fit for me in here.

Xmas Smile Aww thanks Nicky - finding out 11 cycles in felt and still feels surreal. I think I'd convinced myself my body was broken or too old so when that line came up I genuinely thought I was imagining it to start with. Hoping against hope it sticks.

Re the new grad thread Hep ... I did poke my nose in over there though I haven't posted on the existing one (way too early) and it IS mostly ladies with babies now. Not sure what to do tbh as I think they've had multiple threads for TTC#1 as well. I'd feel a bit odd chatting with so many new mummies when what you really want from a grad thread is a bunch of people going through the same thing as you are at more or less the same time - but like Alexia said, there's that 'I made it' thing as well. I don't know! A new thread for more recent grads might be nice. Xmas Grin I want all of you on it pronto!

Flowers to Pug and Winging. I hope you have sufficient chocolate and cake nearby. Cake

Jam - yes, persistence! Sheer bloody mindedness can get you through a lot. Halo

So - less farts today, thank almighty God - I wanted to stuff a cork up my backside on Friday! Boobs still tender though a little less than they were and I'm going to be fretting every day until my 12 week scan, I can feel it. Where before the prayer every day was 'please let me be pregnant' now it's 'please let me STAY pregnant'. Scary and exciting and lovely all at once.

Need me sleep. See you ladies soon!

Mooseville · 03/12/2016 06:21

Ooooh hep Can I be on the new grads thread? I do pop my nose in there from time to time but it's all new babies and I've no advice to offer. I'm on the due in June thread which is nice, but they're not you ladies!!! I still hang here and wish you all well silently!!!

Congrats on the bfps btw!

And kwick hoe you're doing ok? Flowers

sk1pper · 03/12/2016 08:30

Sorry pug and winging Flowers xx

HepKestrel · 03/12/2016 08:36

Hello moose!! Glad you are still here!!

How are you doing?

geeup · 03/12/2016 08:51

Hi all. Skipper fab news on results. Really pleased you can just chill. I am also having a chilled cycle. For the first time in 19 cycles (!) I am not doing OPKs. Am also not temping and have started reflexology. Will just be DTD every other day/every third day till AF and that's it. Reflexologist said I am highly wired and that's probably what's stopping me from falling so I'm all about the zen from now till my first IVF appt. Will attempt to lay off here for a bit maybe but not sure how well I'll last! So if I go quiet, all the best and see you back here on Dec 20th (when AF is due). Good luck and LSFX!!!

EJ2009 · 03/12/2016 09:00

So people are total pilchards.

I went to DH xmas work party last night. A colleague of his came up and said "don't worry i've been badgering him every day to give you a baby. It's the best thing you will do"

A) What an odd first thing to say to your colleagues wife &
B) poor dh that shes giving him a hard time, blaming him for our lack of a child

I'm having t shirts made for all of us saying my ovaries, my business

Mooseville · 03/12/2016 09:07

Hi hep

I was doing ok, everything had been going swimmingly until we got our nuchal screening results last week and it came back as 1:10 for Down syndrome.
We've paid for a private harmony test where they test the babies DNA in your blood and it's a more reliable test. So just having an agonising wait for the results.

It's been a bit baffling as it seems the high results stem mainly from my age (38 at term) as the blood tests and nuchal measurement, although slightly skewed, are within normal ranges. This is helping us feel a bit more positive but there's always that worry that you will be the 1 out the 10.

For any of you older ladies, I would 100% recommend getting the harmony test early if you can afford it to avoid this awful wait. The older you get the false positive rate for Down Syndrome on the NHS screening is as high as 30%! So I dread to think how many people go through the same thing. If I'd have known this beforehand I would have totally had it. It's £300/£400.

The results should be back Mon/Tues so will keep you updated.... and keep everything crossed for us.

Londonjam · 03/12/2016 10:09

Glad all good so far kav are you thinking about an early scan or happy to hold out for 12 weeks?

Moose glad you're still around cheering us Smile I'm sorry I'm not sure how significant your nuchal result is, really hoping you get better news on the next test

EJ that's outrageous! Sign me up for t shirt

Good luck with zen approach gee I think I should try the same really I feel stressed out most of the time Confused

FXSkip · 03/12/2016 10:23

ej people really are assholes, I am staying away from all work social things ATM and I know people are gossiping about me being upduffed. There's one woman that I really don't like who asked me once when I was planning to have a baby and I just responded with 'it's funny that people assume you'll have a baby, so always ask when it's coming - and yet we all know we're going to die, but I wouldn't dream of asking you when you were planning to do it'. And then walked away. Felt a bit harsh but I am done with the insensitive questions!

moose that's a pretty stressful time for you, I can imagine. I think I read somewhere that at age 45 the chance of misdiagnosing downs is 30% - probably in Expecting Better, my pregnancy bible! Thinking of you, anyway, as it's horrible having to wait.

Ah yes, grads, I remember well the switch from 'when will I be pregnant' to 'oh shit, what if...' and then every day could bring a new fear. Sadly, nothing is guaranteed at any time with babies at any stage. My only advice would be to take it each day at a time, enjoying what you have and not investing too much in the future. Fx for all of you xxx

AlexiaB · 03/12/2016 11:00

Love the idea of a new Grads thread Hep. Think it makes perfect sense! There's hardly any pregnant people on the other one now (maybe 5?)

Oh Moose that sounds so stressful. Hope you get good news next week lovely. Great advice on the Harmony test, added bonus is you will know the sex so early on. Are you going to find out?

Love that Jam, thanks. And I totally get what you mean. When I see babies I just want to kidnap them lol but I get more angry/jealous when I see pregnant women (like Mouse said). Deactivating Facebook helped a lot!

People are so insensitive and rude EJ, post me a t-shirt pleaseWink

Didn't get a temp rise this am. Bummer! Maybe tomorrow but we'll just have to keep dtd in the meantime.

harrietm87 · 03/12/2016 12:37

skipper such great news!!!
moose the wait must be agonising. My friend got 1:15 last year and was only 29 so really feared the worst but had harmony and it came back clear. The 2 weeks waiting were awful. 1:10 is still low - 90%chance everything is fine.

I'm so confused right now as AF still not here on CD34! Cycles have been 29-31 since had cool out a year ago. And my boobs are massive! BUT nothing showing on an opk (I don't have any pregnancy tests at home but pretty sure that if you're preg you get a +be opk). Also no other symptoms. Can't believe it's cos of the B6 but that's the only thing that's been different this month!

harrietm87 · 03/12/2016 12:38

coil not cool and +ve not be!

Mooseville · 03/12/2016 12:55

Thanks guys! You girls really are the most supportive bunch around!!
As to finding out the sex Alexia We weren't going to, but that's kind of insignificant now as all that matters is it's health - I think we'll find the temptation of finding out through the results too much and will cave, but we'll see!
Once we've the results next week, I'll start up a new thread for the new grads - surely a new thread would do the job for a flurry of bfps!

Nicky883 · 03/12/2016 14:21

Hope everything goes ok moose !
I love the picture jam !

HepKestrel · 03/12/2016 16:03

The waiting games continue! Moose lsfx for you. Waiting is not fun, though you would think we would all be pros at it by now. I will remember your advice though, as I am no spring chicken (37)

Starmist · 03/12/2016 17:21

Oh my god. I've just had the strongest line yet on my opk & I've got EWCM. Argh!

FXSkip · 03/12/2016 18:26

starmist can you dtd?! Good lord woman get off mn and get into bed!!

OP posts:
Starmist · 03/12/2016 19:23

DH is still ill but a lot better than before. I will pounce on him later. Would love to do it now but he definitely won't be up for it until we go to bed. I wish this DTD business was just down to me, I'd be at it all the time if I could.

Starmist · 03/12/2016 19:34

Sorry just catching up...

EJ people are so rude it's unbelievable. Good idea about the t shirts, they'd be very handy!

Moose I'm so sorry to hear that lovey. FX everything is fine. Thinking of you xx

FX that AF stays away Harriet.

InspectorPenguin · 03/12/2016 20:42

Hi ladies, just popping in to say I'm wishing you all the best and still rooting for lots of BFPs for Christmas.

And massive congrats to the recent grads Kav, MrsG and Wanting! Great to see some good news on here at last!! Wishing you all a very healthy and happy pregnancy :)

Looks like there has been some progress with those having tests recently as well which is great. But sorry about AF, Pug, Winging and especially to Alexia. I was so pleased to read about your positive result and gutted it didn't last. You sound like you're dealing with it as well as you can though; you're a very strong woman and I'm sure you are going to have your dream soon Flowers. Hope you have been shagging lots after your positive OPK!

Very sorry about your BFN too Kwik. You are such a huge source of support to everyone on here, and some kind of superwoman the way you juggle your crazy work and baby-making schedule. 2017 will be your year!

Jem good luck with the rest of your TWW. I know this is the crappiest part of the cycle for you but hope you can relax and enjoy the festive season next week Xmas Smile

I have taken a step back from MN to try and get some head space and not obsess too much on TTC. I had my HSG and internal scan last week which showed my tubes were fine (yay) but I definitely have polycystic ovaries. No sign of having the Syndrome though, since I don't have any other symptoms, so I have to wait until Jan for my consultant follow-up appointment to see what he recommends. We're going to do Day21 bloods again this month to see if there's any ovulation - my very high AMH levels suggest there may not be.

Anyway, it's all fine and we're just going to keep on having lots of sex throughout the month and not get too caught up in it all. I probably won't be on here that much as it has been helpful to log off for a bit, but it doesn't stop me wanting to see plenty of pink lines when I do have a peek, so please keep at it everyone!!

WantingBaby1 · 03/12/2016 22:54

Evening ladies!

Just catching up...

ej people can be so rude! I really don't know why they don't just think. There's a guy at work who keeps harking on about "everyone getting pregnant" when they work for him, when I know for a fact that the woman who sits next to him has been ttc for a yr. I'd probably have hit him by now if I was her.

star get dtd! Feeling positive for you Smile

moose hep would love a grads thread! Count me in. The pregnancy threads are a little daunting when I'm a brand new bfp.

I really hope your results are good moose. It's such a daunting time and we can't help but worry. Flowers how far along are you?

How are you doing mrs any symptoms yet? None here, apart from serious wind. I'm burping/gurgling constantly. So attractive Confused how are you kav? Hoping to have an early scan around 7 weeks which will be right before Xmas. So nervous. Trying to stay positive as absolutely no reason not to be.

Fx for lots of bfps soon. Thinking of you all.
